Wade didn't waste anytime showing us all he isn't done. The dude is the energizer bunny Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So which way should Riley have played it? Let Whiteside walk, or give Wade 3 years at $20M? Because to give him what he wanted, that's what it would have taken. I hate seeing Wade in another uniform, too, but I don't blame Riley.
Did we win our opener or did we look like a lottery team without Wade? We will be fine everyone... not even Jordan retired with his first team..
We offered Wade every cent we could. Nobody would take McBob's contract. It is what it is. I wish him well but it's time to move on. When he's done, he'll sign a one day contract and retire a Heat. He's on an extended business trip. He'll be back eventually
We were a mere months removed from him playing like one of the best players in the world in the playoffs. You don't get "done" that quick.
He offered Wade 2 years, $40 million, after Wade opted out of his Big Three deal. Wade supposedly wanted $20 million a year, so Pat Riley gave it to him, and Wade declined. LeBron James, not Pat Riley, cost Dwyane Wade money.
Well, winning cures a lot of that. Winning against the Magic felt pretty good. Winning against the Hornets would feel pretty good. That'll make me feel better. And I kind of like the current approach. Let the Heat front office go to town finding a bunch of guys they think are under-valued, and let Spo go to town figuring out the offense. It's kind of cool.
Yes. I know, the concepts of "playoffs", "being competetent" and "winning", can seem so alien to a Cavs fan. Don't worry, you people will get used to it (granted, no one can/will stop you guys from eating horse poop to your heart's content at parades)
Much better effort tonight. They tried to go Hack-a-Nene, lol. He sank about 6 in a row. He ain't Dwight. 7 of our first 8 games are on the road. We need to go minimum 5-3.
What in the hell happened last night. I had to check out of the game beginning of 3rd quarter with the game well in hand and then find out they lose?!?
Whiteside was benched with foul trouble in the third. Hornets took away the paint and no one could make a shot.
He was brutal down the stretch. Need JRich. Overall pretty encouraging peformance though. Dragic started looking like Dragic. Winslow positive impact all over. Whiteside had some incredible moments.
It was a chess move. Ryan Anderson...Eric Gordon...guess which Pelican is next, lol. He looks so disgusted with your team. Welcome to Houston, AD.
Quality comeback. No one wants to live is a s-hole wasteland like sprawly Houston. AD loves New Orleans. He's not going anywhere despite every basketball fan in the country coveting him. Have fun with our crappy cast offs. Ryan Anderson's productivity is not going to improve and Eric Gordon's next injury is just a moment away. I feel sorry for Rockets fans your team is unwatchable unless you enjoy Harden isolation plays that end up with free throws. Whippee!
3 games in, 1-2, but that is as good a 1-2 as you are gonna have. Great performance vs. the Spurs. Had them beat a couple of times. Kawhi is so good.
Kawhi is just a mystery. My knowledge might be at fault but I don't recall a previous player who has developed so much. He's gone from being just a very good but long defender to a very good all-round player. I still wonder if he lacks the killer mentality of some of the highest calibre players but at this point I'm putting my questions and doubts on the back seat because every year he goes away and works and works and works and comes back with some new facet and depth to his game. His shot already looks smoother and now his handle too seems to be improved. It's amazing.
He is very good to great at EVERYTHING, except his ball handling and facilitating. Heat beat the Spurs, but not Kawhi. he didn't let the Heat win on the scoreboard. he really gets better every time I see him.
Thought this exact thing during the game. I was particularly impressed with how he uses his body/contact in the post (Justise can learn from some of the little things he does). Then you add his wingspan and you get a real monster in the paint, and he's learning to kick it out in rhythm. Of course his IQ on the defensive end is downright uncanny. Very few players have made the kinds of improvements he has steadily over the years, and then his flat affect gives you the 'mysterious' factor Galant mentioned. Just a different kind of dude. Thoughts on Spo having Waiters guard him down the stretch? That iso possession where we're down 2 with :40 to go? That would be JRich going forward, I suppose, and Spo just didn't want Winslow to foul out. ALSO HEAT FANS, here's a breakdown of Whiteside's dominant start, and the strides he's making. This dude (Nekias Duncan) seriously knows his stuff. http://heatbeatmiami.com/block-examining-hassan-whitesides-post-dominance/
I was surprised how the Heat offense couldn't get going in the first half, especially the first quarter. They were working their butts off on the defensive end but just not converting on the offensive end. Obviously, they came back in the second half, but again right at the end the shots that had started to fall began drying up again. Whiteside is very impressive, especially his blocking. These tip-blocks showed his deceptive reach - where Gasol in particular looked clear to get a shot off but nope. Having said that, towards the end where the game was within a couple of points I felt maybe it was unacceptable of Whiteside, after falling down, not to hustle back at full speed. Maybe it would have been pointless but when a game is that close you don't just give your opponents a free basket. Winslow looked like he had a nice smooth jumper - how is he on offense generally? I began to worry he might collapse the Spurs by adding an mid-long range threat but in the end he didn't get that many shots off - felt under-used. Although that's just recollection at the moment, maybe that wasn't the case.
Lol. Well that's over. W! Boogie's a load...and he's kinda crazy. Tyler Johnson earning the big bucks...he was awesome.
