"Ajayi was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, the NFL announced Wednesday. The explosive second-year back out of Boise State ran for 214 yards and a touchdown in helping Miami top Buffalo 28-25 on Sunday. Ajayi became just the fourth player to rush for over 200 yards in back-to-back games, after having rushed for 204 yards in Week 6 against the Steelers. Ajayi joined O.J. Simpson, Earl Campbell and Ricky Williams as the only players to accomplish that feat."It's surreal to me," Ajayi said after the game. "The backs I'm in company with -- that's huge. Those are Hall of Fame guys, guys I look up to." Ajayi is the first player to win the award in consecutive weeks since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2006.

The AFC Defensive Player of the Week was Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman. Perryman had seven tackles and an interception in helping San Diego top Atlanta 33-30 in one of the season's most exciting games. Perryman led the Chargers defense in holding the high-powered Falcons to just three second-half points.

Raiders punter Marquette King took home AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. King punted five times -- averaging 50.6 yards per punt -- in helping Oakland top Jacksonville 33-16. Four of his punts pinned the Jaguars inside their own 20-yard-line. The fifth-year player even had a chance to show off his athleticism when he turned a muffed snap into a 27-yard gain."

I hope he does it for 3 weeks in a row. That would be super special.

He's definitely a star in the making- it's rare to see speed and that much power rolled into one guy. I wold not expect for him to have a 3rd 200 yard game against the Jets, but it does bode well for the rest of our offense since it makes it so hard to game-plan for us. Other teams have to focus on stopping the run while we'll be practicing play-action passes all next week.

But if he only rushes for 160 yards or some bull****, he sucks.

Yup, I was going to say the exact same thing. Unless he can break every record known to man, save a kid from an angry gorilla, cure cancer and get NFL Player of the Year, we may as well just trade him to NE now and be done with it. I don't want that kind of riff-raf on my team.

I dunno about that I would have said the same thing against Pittstburg and Bufallo's Defense before this as well. OH I HOPE he does it against the Jets would be such a sweet feeling to stomp them.

First player in the NFL Since 2006 (LaDainian) to win Player of the Week honors 2 weeks in a row! This feels like the wildcat, the way we've found a groove by pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Only this is legit.... the healthy o-line is finally living up to its billing after all those assets and dollars....

You mean that it feels like the Wildcat, in that we sucked up until that point, and then were suddenly awesome for a couple of games? I can understand that. The big difference of course was that was a gimmick, and though Ronnie an Ricky were talented players, it was mostly about surprise and confusion. This year is about getting our best players healthy finally, and just taking it to the other team with simple football concepts. Hopefully, Gase is smart enough to adjust when teams start gearing up to stop the run, and we can then shred them through the air. I think he is.

I love that Buffalo had Mike Gillislee and Reggie Bush and yet finally the headline wasn't something to do with ex-Fins getting revenge against Miami.

    Not this time Rex.

But seriously, is this brand of power football not more fun from the perspective of a fan!? I love it.

I've definitely always loved the ground and pound. More than that though, I'm not sure it's possible to play great football without it. So maybe that's why it's enjoyable, because ground and pound with a QB who can make highlight throws when needed, is solid, balanced, grounded football. ?
