Seems rather quick, but it does put an exclamation point on the end of the statement, "show me what you can do now, not last year".
yeah if someone doesn't get traded and gets cut instead, you better bet that they tried to trade said player beforehand. problem is, every other team is watching the happenings on each team, and when every other team sees us bench this guy due to injury, and sees our sub-in play better than our starter, they can read the writing on the wall. i think a team would have to be absolutely stupid to trade for feely in this situation. all a moot point now though.
Seems like all the guys that liked to run their mouths are finding the road out pretty quickly. Shame we couldnt trade him though!
Sort of surprised, but not really. Feely got off on the wrong foot here by opening his mouth, then getting hurt was really bad for him seeing as we had a young guy in here going after the job and he's been impressive. Dump the vet feely, dump his contract(which i imagine is alot more than carpenters) and move on with a fresh young leg. Im ok with it.
Not sure how I feel about it, as Jay Feely has been know to not be a great guy on the team, but hes a good kicker and someone would have given up a 6th or 7th for him probably. Also Rookies are dangerous imagine that when the games matter or in TIGHT games where were like 3 points down 4th quater game on line in bad weather as well what a rookie might do. Choke and cost the team a game or two and his confidence goes south for the rest of the season! I hope it works for us but we will see!!
Well, I'm not shocked, but mildly surprised at the timing...probably just giving him a chance to catch on somewhere else, since they apparently made up their minds early... That said, could they be making some extra room (cap wise) for a Bentley or someone of that ilk ?? I know he apparently wants more than what we must have offered when he came in for a look-see...
Man he was a lone highlight for the 2008 season! I just hope the kid can come through when we really need him.. We saved some cash on this deal for sure and lets face it by the time we woul really need him 3 years from now he might be craptastic.. Lets hope the new guy improves and is spot on for us in 2/3 years when it REALLY counts!
Feely maybe can give the media more interviews about how he doesn't want Ricky Williams on his team anymore. He should have focused more on his kicks, rather than flapping his gums.
Yeah I know about that, but I still feel this team would be better with a veteran in the position. When its 4th qtr and we're trailing by 2 and we need that game in Toronto against the Bills do you trust Feely or some rook ?
I was very disappointed in that. That was what I felt if we were to get rid of Feely it would be for someone that could boom the ball, instead all we did was get someone who is a younger Feely. I guess its Feely without the mouth
