http://www.thephinsider.com/2016/10...e-brewing-in-miami-adam-gase-mike-tannenbaumS sounds like more of the same ole Back in January, the Dolphins had just fired general manager Dennis Hickey and replaced him with Chris Grier. Now the Dolphins had to find a new head coach. The Dolphins gave interim head coach Dan Campbell a shot but the team decided on Adam Gase. Gase however was not Tannenbaum's first choice. Tannenbaum wanted to hire Doug Marrone while owner Stephen Ross was ready to make Gase the unanimous favorite. So the Dolphins set sail with Gase at the helm. Tannenbaum and Grier began to put together an offseason plan that would help the team achieve great things. Fast forward to now and the team is just...terrible. The Dolphins let go of some of their best talent in Olivier Vernon and Lamar Miller. They replaced them with veterans Mario Williams and Arian Foster, both of whom have done very little to help this team. The team then traded back some spots in the draft and were given Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso. Maxwell has been anything but stellar and I'm not ready to throw Alonso under the bus yet. Let me remind some people. Gase and the coaches wanted to keep Miller. The front office should have done everything in their power to keep the talented running back. Today Gase released two offensive lineman who should have been gone during the offseason. more in the article.
I'm starting to become a big fan of Gase. He may be the one competent person in a power position with this organization. Clearly Ross and Tannebaum are clueless. Hopefully this is a wake up call to Ross and he lets Tannebaum go.
yeah, it will be interesting. This is first I had heard that Gase was not the first choice. But, at least he is seeing things done his way.
Gase wanted to keep Miller or sign CJ Anderson. TBaum failed to do either. Moot point right now with the horrific OL play we've gotten this season. We've yet to play the same OL for more than 1 game this season. Gase should be pissed about the roster he got from TBaum and Grier. It's terrible. Mario replaced Shelby, who we should have retained. Shelby played better for us than anything we've gotten from Mario since game 1. It was Andre Branch who replaced OV. Both Branch and OV have exactly 1 sack on the season and dozen or so tackles. All 5 of our DE's suck though, even Wake, who has been touched by Father Time. Houston would much rather to have Tannehill and Ajayi or Drake over Osweiler and Miller right now. Houston has buyer's remorse over both. Miller's yards, carries, and average continues to decline and Osweiler is terrible.
If it's true that Tannenbaum initially wanted Dan Quinn last year and then Marrone this year, this would be the 3rd time Stephen Ross didn't hire the man his GM preferred...we all remember reports Ireland wanted McCoy over Philbin. How he keeps forcing all these people together just to watch it lead to disfunction time and time again is impressive, even his own acts ruin relationships, like that last minute flight with Ireland to the west coast to talk to Harbaugh when Sparano was still here. Ross truly is an idiot.
I've been more than impressed with Adam Gase. He's exactly what this team needs as a coach. He'll get things turned around, but he's going to need two years to do this. SO far, it's hard to argue with anything he's done. I'm sure he did want to keep Miller, it wold make sense for him to have done so.
how can he get things turned around if he and the GM are against each other? Also, what has he done to impress you?
I am fully convinced Gase is the best coach we have had since Shula. We need to give him a few years and not panic. He needs time to overhaul the roster. Everything he says is so spot on about the team
Well, I don't know that I can go that far, but I do think that Gase is not the problem at this point. The roster just sucks. All there is to it at this point.
You guys can't really blame Tannenbaum for CJ Anderson. They had him signed and Denver swooped in at the last second and matched. Not Mike's fault.
I just don't think this team will be watchable as long as Ross owns the team. He has failed every step of the way as an NFL owner.
He could have put a bigger number on the contract which would have made it more difficult for Denver.Besides Denver didn't swoop, they left us dangling in the breeze for a week and then matched the offer they were always going to match, that way they got who they wanted but left us spinning our wheels for a week.
I don't think Houston has buyers remorse over Miller. It's been 5 games... He's played pretty well in all of them, save Minnesota. The YPC haven't been there, but I think that has more to do with how teams are scheming against Houston. They're keying on the run and forcing Osweiler to beat them with his arm. So far, that's not happening. Time will tell by years end.
Ross would have to be a clown to not see the moves Tannenbaum made on his own. All he has to do is check his bank acct Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will gladly blame Tannebaum on CJ Anderson.. because the deal should have never been made in the first place... I dont think Miller or CJ is that good, theyre both about the same.. theyre better than what we currently have tho. so you take care of your guy, the one that was drafted by the team and has produced.. CJ getting matched was inevitible.. and trusting ajayi to become that guy with a bum knee, is irresponsible
