Need more proof Phil is a genius?? Has the team sandbagging on national tv so we can play the "nobody believes in us" narrative and ride it to the ECF. Worth every penny.
Babbitt went 4-5 from 3 at that PF position....just sayin'. Our defense won;t be anchored by a PF anymore, that's for sure. SO we gotta be more conventional, keep people in front of us, and funnel toward HW.
Can i just say i hate the Joakim Noah contract every day more and more? I would rather have maxed Whiteside and taken that risk. This wimp is already whining about his hammy. I would include Rose just to get that contract gone. Its bad enough i already cant stand Noah from his time in Chicago....just pump his value up early, hope he stays healthy for the first half of the year and send him with Rose to Sacramento for Boogie (which works on 2 front...personnel wise and im sure theres some more women for rose to rape in cali)... thank you Oh and there is no way...NONE...we are making the ECF as presently constructed. Better chance we will be in the lottery imo. Most likely though, a 7th or 8th seed and first round wipe out.
You think Babbitt's the favorite to start in the reg season? Dead-eye shooter for sure, can put it on the floor a little too. I mean Justise is a plus rebounder and can guard...anyone, which should help hide Babbitt. It's been a while since Spo started a guy who's this limited on defense though. Hopefully the team defense can mitigate his issues.
Hey in 2013 some random GM voted him "best passer" which is still really funny http://www.nba.com/news/2013-14-nba-gm-survey/
I don;t see how he can start. When we got him, I got excited, because he can fill it up from 3......but oh boy..is he bad on D or what?
Be quiet Knicks fan. You had no shot at him...(we backed up the brinks truck) BTW, he did have 20 and 13 last night.
An ESPN Insider article just said the Cavs were going to miss Delly so much that they are going to vastly under perform expectations and be forced to trade Kevin Love. An INSIDER article said that. One you have to pay for!
Glad I caught the Heat last night. I really liked what I saw from Hassan, Goran, Winslow, and Waiters. Chemistry looked especially with HW, GD, and JW. Babbitt looks like he can be a good bench player with confidence to hit the three. All in all very pleased. We looked good.
Baiting is for posters who do not get along. You love me deep down and you know it. We got a groovy kind of love. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I know it's only preseason (3-0), but Mike Dantoni, Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon, and Nene are killing it. I've never seen Harden so happy. Finally has a coach with a clue and some help.
Harden has a great shot at MVP this year as long as he doesn't embarrass himself on defense. I could see him picking up the distribution numbers to like 10ast per game. I'm looking forward to watching him run the show. Serious PnR maestro, of course, but now the offense will actually understand tempo and, you know, not just...standing there.
This Dion Waiters thing has me intrigued. I see a special compatibility between Dion Waiters and Hassan Whiteside that hasn't been present between Whiteside and any other player on the Heat roster. The chemistry isn't because the two seem to know each other that well, you can tell they are still learning one another a little bit. I think it's more compatibility than chemistry at the moment. There are things Dion Waiters can do penetrating and dishing the ball that really require someone like Hassan Whiteside to get a solid finish. I can see how, absent a Whiteside, maybe those things don't come through with Waiters at other stops. Similarly I think Whiteside doesn't have a guy that can get him the ball on the inside in quite the way Waiters can. That pick and roll compatibility isn't even there with Dragic, not really. You saw it some with Wade but I think Wade also had some other priorities.
Up 25 at halftime...looking like another blowout win. Dantoni finally revealed the lineup with Ryan Anderson at the 5 and Kyle Wiltjer at the 4. Its damn near unguardable with Harden running point. I just hope we don't resign Motiejunas and send Wiltjer to RGV.
Anyone read/seen any good write-ups on the offseason changes this year? A lot of teams have gone through shake-ups, I'd like to catch up. Thanks.
Lol, if you think MDA has a clue, give it 40 or so games when you're sick of losing 120-111 every night.
That's what you think. Trust me, he's worse. Never want to see him near the Knicks again. If you think he's your golden ticket, think again.
Heat has made 11 or more Threes in 3 of 4 Preseason games.... HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
They're basically trying to be Golden State. Or at least that's what it has looked like to my completely untrained eye during these preseason games. Or maybe it's more like Portland, Atlanta or one of those. What's crazy is they have real, genuine three point shooting talent. I remember when Riley mentioned something like three point shooters that can nail them regardless of system like Kyle Korver and J.R. Smith. I mean, you'd have to consider Luke Babbitt to be one of those guys, wouldn't you? And then there's J-Rich leading the league over a long stretch last year at 46% on the year. Tyler Johnson is 38% in both his years in the league. Wayne Ellington is a career 38% shooter and more like 40-43% when things are going well for him. We have talked about before how Goran Dragic before last year was like a 36-37% shooter. And heck toss in Rodney McGruder who is 5 of 12 in preseason, after being 18 of 36 in Summer League, and going 38.4% in D-League. He was a college 38% shooter too. Compare that with a year ago before they'd acquired Joe Johnson...when Tyler Johnson was hurt and to that point Josh Richardson sucked at threes. But I still dread it when Justise Winslow spots up from behind the arc. Blech. If he could make a J-Rich like turnaround in his three point shooting that would feel like a pretty big deal because it looks like he gets a lot of opportunities that way that he has to pass up on for the good of the team. And you know Dion Waiters is going to want to get into it, and that can't be a good thing.
I love Goran and think they finally have a supporting cast that fits him. But getting Gay and Collison would be a damn good trade as long as you're not really sending anything else of value back as well.
Not into that trade. Mostly because I've always liked Dragic's game, love watching him play. I'm pumped to see him with this roster. His game and vet experience with the Heat make him an important piece to help the young guys develop, which is the focus of this season. He's going to make things easier for Whiteside, Winslow, TJ, and Jrich. Not that Collison can't do that a little too (he's fine), but Dragic is one of the few vets who's familiar with the staff and organization...plus he's just a better player on a bargain contract. I wouldn't like all this turnover at once given who we already lost. I know that's short-term thinking. But I think this year is going to end up being pretty important for this young core we're trying to grow in-house. It's not a tank/lost cause situation to me. And selfishly I want to see what Spo can do with this bunch of underdog, unproven, re-tread types with national media guys writing us off. If anything I'd be more interested in making moves for picks given this draft. The '17 FA group is fine, but I'm not to jazzed about it given who's likely to stay put.
It's a trade for cap space. Gay has an opt out and Collison a FA. Kings need to get some value for Gay and want a locked up PG to pair with Boogie. If they give us a 1st rounder, maybe top 5 protected I'd probably do it. It would put us firmly in tank mode I think and give us north of $60 million to spend in the summer. Don't need to deal now. See how we look a few weeks in and re-asses.
A lot of buzz regarding Aldridge now too, that he's just not fitting in. We had a meeting with him last year and we could take a contract off their hands if we make the Gay trade. And Justise certainly seems like a Spurs type. Just something to keep in mind
Anytime i can get a all star quality wing for a guard, im all over that. PG is pretty much a defensive position and a facilitating position for me and Dragic only really checks one of those boxes imo. Heat also gain cap space. Absolutely should take that trade.
Looking at some playoff teams... Steph, Kyrie, Lowry, Kemba, TParker, Russ, Dame, Isaiah. Dragic is better on defense than all of them. In fact he's MUCH better than most of that list, imo. Not to mention the fact that they are score-first guys. The type of PG you need depends on the pieces around him.
I wouldn't say that. First of all, Gay has to opt out to get that space. Secondly, the Heat like him. BJax says he would currently be a backup plan in FA next summer. He also says this trade isn't happening right now and that Miami wants to see what it has first. I don't really see how this would be a tank situation. Collison is a solid PG and Gay can be a good wing when he's on. I think that deal makes Miami better now and also gives them additional flexibility in the offseason if Gay opts out.
