I respect the Hell out of you for that, BTW. When I was 13, the Fins beat the Chiefs in a crazy exciting wildcard game, and then went on to have 14 years in a row without a losing season. There was always hope going into the year. Heck, they only had one losing season from the time I was 2 until I was 26. As for this week, everything is coming up Miami. The Browns were already one of the worst teams in the league, and now they're down to their 3rd string QB, and their #3WR, a former QB, is now their #1, plus they're missing several offensive linemen. Even our swiss cheese defense should be able to hold them down. Its like the first week in our newly renovated stadium is a homecoming game scheduled against a lower division team. Designed to make us all happy for a week.
Browns are bad in recent history only. They used to have really good records all the way from the 1950's to the 1980's, and have an overall winning record in the NFL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Cleveland_Browns_seasons Bills in recent history are actually the worst if measured by number of consecutive years without making the playoffs. They're at 16 while Browns are at 13. And I don't want to know what it feels like to have been to 4 consecutive Super Bowls and lost ALL of them HAHAHA! Of course, if you only care about win percentage over franchise history, by FAR the worst is Tampa Bay at 38.5% but they won a SB.. so I'm going to go with the Bills as the worst franchise to root for (4 consecutive SB's lost in a row LOLOLOL).
You're right, perceptions can change dramatically. When I first became a big fan in 1991, the Packers and Chargers were known as awful franchises. Green Bay was mediorce to poor from the late 60s until the early 90s. San Diego stunk for almost 10 years in a row though the 80s. On the other side, the Browns and Washington were great teams that always made the playoffs.
we lost to thad lewis twice and gave geno smith the only perfect qb rating a couple of years ago, it is the dolphins, they usually find a way to **** it up.
Woah...hold on! Cleveland might be battered and bruised, but assuming this is going to be a big win is the worst thing we could do. Complacency will lead to us getting bitten on the ***, and I am sure the coaches will be all over the team this week reminding them of this. There's a reason they actually play the games, remember...
As fans we can hope to maybe see some highlight plays and a big win, but as a team, I hope they're single-minded in their pursuit of just getting better at what they're doing - regardless of opponent. The Dolphins' biggest obstacle might be their own mentality and lack of unity. They've got to work hard at getting their roles down, ingrained and getting more and more familiar with one another. They have to build chemistry and identity as a unit. Get off any week to week roller-coaster of ups and downs and opponents, focus in on Gase, and the plan, and one another, and then go out and put it together at the highest level. A little bit of the NBA's Gregg Popovich's attitude could do wonders. Lift the bar, set the standard, get hard-line about it. Get the 'stars'/franchise players on board and setting the example, the tone. Push players to perfect the little things, keep at it, time and again, pound the rock. I think Gase might be someone who thinks a bit that way, can do that. I hope he is doing that, and that he's demanding about it. Regardless of opponent.
