I think Eva Marie legitimately did not want to wrestle. Looks like Becky and her argued last night over twitter, and what made it more authentic was Bayley pretty much saying "give me a chance, I won't waste it and I'll wrestle you".

I think Eva wants a job as a Nitro girl. Something like Lana is for Rusev or Maryse for The Miz.

The Eva Marie thing is clearly a storyline. She didn't back out or legit get injured. My point is that it was, and is, a stupid and pointless storyline.

I like Balor, but his mic skills was on par with Roman Reigns. And as a Reigns fan who recognizes that Reigns shouldn't be on the mic too much, I can't give Balor a pass on that.

WWE is planning on having more cross brand matches at the Big 4 PPVs (RR, WM, SS, Survivor Series) between RAW and Smackdown superstars.

    Barf.

Wrestlemania is one thing, and intermingling during the Royal Rumble obviously makes sense. But that should be it.

I mean I guess I get Survivor Series having a 5 on 5 or 4 on 4 elimination match for bragging rights or some speculation and the Rumble is obvious but I'm not a fan of WM (unless the winner of the Rumble wants to challenge the champ on the other brand) or Summer Slam.

I still think the brand split is going to end badly (again). Really wish they never did it in the first place.

Love KO and Jericho vs Enzo and Cass. Lots of personality, jericho can work with pretty much anyone.

WWE had a plan and seems to be working on Roman Reigns. They hit the reset button on him, got him an opponent that is so unamerican, so nasty towards the fans, the fans would root for just about anyone even Roman Reigns.

And they even gave Roman Reigns some good lines this time to attack Rusev that isnt "suffering succotash"

You guys gotta watch or listen to the Steve Austin podcast that aired tonight with Dean Ambrose.

    A TON of tidbits.

My Fav: He confirmed the rumors of him wanting to "create" a complete blood bath and utter mayhem in his match with Lesnar at WM, but he was met with "complete laziness" from Lesnar, and that Brock "didn't want to do anything".

RAW is so damn long. That alone, makes me want to watch Smackdown over RAW.

    The Good:

Jerichowens (JeriKO?). Y2J is having one of the best runs of his career, and even at his worst, is still solid. Kevin Owens has thrived in his time in WWE, so using the two of them together is a no brainer for entertainment value. Kevin's logic for hating people, while silly at times, still seems to make sense. Pettiness helps define his character further.

Cesaro being elevated. Clearly he has been a beneficiary of the brand split, which I am happy about. The guy has found his niche with the well dressed man/Swiss Superman deal. Signature spots, and a great look. I am a fan of anything he does.

Rusev. He has lasted and thrived much longer than I thought he would. Dude deserves some praise. He puts on great matches, has a good personality and embraces his role big time.

Cesaro-Sheamus. GOOD physical match. I was happy to see the crowd agree.

Lesnar/Orton video package. As much as I didn't like that run-ins last week, I DO think the match has been promoted really well and has a nice big time feel to it. The video promo package they produced this week was really well done. Kudos to that department.

    The Bad:

Enzo & Cass. I am already sick of these two on the mic. I know that SAWFT stuff works for the crowd and selling merchandise, but good lord if it isn't the most annoying thing ever.

Enzo/Cass vs. JeriKO at Summerslam. thin roster and you use two top singles people in a tag match? That seems ridiculous to me. Why not split the two and have two singles matches, and give us some interactions backstage between KO and Jericho after each match, etc. If ultimately, the goal is to get to Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho...why not give them a reason to lift off from there?

Finn Balor promo. The guy really needs to be in the ring, establishing himself as a legit threat to Rollins at Summerslam. Pre-taped promos won't really work. Not when you are still new to a large portion of your audience.

Braun Stroman's entrance music. I don't mind him squashing people for awhile. But that music has GOT to go.

Yeah, he came off very good yesterday, and that surprise spear at the end was a great way to end Raw. He's becoming a fan favorite so fast, just a few weeks ago he was getting the **** boo'd out of him.

I was listening to Jericho's podcast and he mentioned he wrote the lines Randy Orton said in his highlight reel 2 weeks ago. Makes me wonder how much writing he does for RAW behind the scenes.

There needs to be some balance though, next week Rusev coming off on top of Reigns, maybe knock him out and do the Accolade over him, and then finish off by insulting the crowd, all of that would work in a build up to the PPV.

Rusev is easily the best heel in WWE. He reminds me of Scott Steiner in WCW. Just brutally nasty to the crowd, cocky, and very powerful and pulverizing wrestler.

There is already talk of switching some wrestlers from RAW to Smackdown as the WWE feels the draft turned out poorly. Most talked about switch is Orton to RAW and Owens to Smackdown.

  22. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

That would actually be a pretty good trade. I wonder if they could run a story line where Orton keeps disobeying Bryan/Shane to the point where they are left with very little recoourse other than to trade him, and in return, they get Cesaro/Owens. I think it would need a bit more time to play out rather than doing it immediately. But I am all for having a trade deadline that lasts about a month or so.

And they are right...the draft DID turn our poorly.

I would hate that because I would probably watch it two nights a week because of Kevin Owens. I guess that would be exactly what they are looking for with the switch though.

It's not like the WWE didn't have months to plan the draft out either.

I agree there absolutely should be trades and should have been trades done the night of the draft. You can have Shane pick someone you knew Stephanie wanted on purpose just to make a deal. Imagine if Shane picked Triple H?

I like that Orton idea a lot. You could really use it for anyone. I forget which Podcast it was maybe Jericho, Austin or even Scott Keith's but it was mentioned how it was surprising that both Owens and Zayn got drafted to the same show and pitched an idea where Owens and Zayn would keep interfering in each other's matches so Foley/Stephanie got fed up and had a Loser Leaves RAW match at a PPV and the loser would be traded to Smackdown for someone else. I thought something like that could work too. Or just have a wrestler be unhappy with his current position and try to get fired or traded to the other brand, well endless storylines there.

But yeah have a trade deadline from like Survivor Series/December PPVs to the Royal Rumble or something like that.

I'll be honest I just don't watch Smackdown because outside of Styles and Ambrose there's no one I really want or need to see wrestle every week. I'll just watch the monthly PPVs because that's when I know you'd see a really good match.

By the way, if you aren't watching the Cruiserweight Classic, you are MISSING OUT. It is into the second round now and it is already in the running for greatest tournament ever. Not even joking. The Cedric Alexander/Kota Ibushi match was gloriously brutal. And it has been fun to see Tajiri again. The Gargano/Ciampa match form the first round was stiff as hell too.

It is the best thing WWE has produced in an extremely long time.

I haven't watched it yet but have heard great things especially last episode. I need to check it out when I have some free time.

The main reason why it's probably so good is because Vince isn't producing it or anywhere near it, it's all Triple H. I heard even the play by play is light years ahead of anything that's been done since the JR and King glory years.

Paul Heyman obviously has signed a new deal with the WWE but part of his deal is more dates and even creative input on his character and role. Heyman also pitched ideas to be the mouth piece of Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura. I don't think either guy would work with Heyman. Nakamura has tons of charisma on his own and his English isn't horrible, he's going to get over on his ring work not on the mike. Same with Joe. The WWE didn't need these guys (or others) doing 20 minute promos.

It is better than NXT even. It really is a tremendous production. Mauro and Bryan are awesome on commentary, as you might expect. Bryan seems to channel Joey Styles at times, which is a bit annoying (OH MY GOSH!), but that is a small nitpick.

The crappy part is when the Cruiserweights start on RAW and we get Michael Cole not knowing any of the characters or moves, and not calling out the in-ring psychology the way Mauro and Bryan do. But if this was the late 90's, and tape trading was still a thing...this tournament would be the most sought after in wrestling history, I promise you that. Find time to watch it. It is incredible.

In Heyman we trust. Some of the other guys didn't work for Paul (Cesaro/Axel) because I believe WWE tried to crowbar Paul onto them to get them over as opposed to Paul truly believing in them. If Paul wants to work with Samoa Joe or Nakamura, I would welcome the idea. Remember, Nakamura will NOT be allowed to get away with being himself while on the main roster, so he may need help.

Also, how cool would it be for Heyman to strategically place his guys on both rosters, allowing him to go to both brands, and possibly represent champions on both? That would be a cool story line and help sell PPVs for both brands if Heyman is cutting promos on both.

Yeah I'm actually hoping that by Stephanie announcing RAW will have the cruiserweights it will be some type of storyline where Daniel Bryan secretly has guys from the tournament already signed for Smackdown so Stephanie will be in her glory on RAW with the new championship in her hand and cue Bryan's music. But yeah that's a pipe dream and you're right Cole is going to be awful calling those types of matches.

Yeah I don't blame Heyman for not getting Cesaro, Axel or Ryback over because the WWE really cut off those guys' legs and didn't give Heyman anything to work with.

You're right it's too bad Nakamura won't be able to be Nakamura. I mean isn't that the point of signing him?

I do like that idea of Heyman having guys on RAW and Smackdown. Cool idea.

Eh I think there's a big disconnect between who Vince likes personally compared to who Vince thinks will make him money. He may love guys like Daniel Bryan and Dean Ambrose but he thinks Orton vs. Batista or Roman Reigns being the next Cena is going to make him more money.

The four main matches at Summerslam include:

    AJ Styles
    Dean Ambrose
    Dolph Ziggler
    Finn Balor
    Seth Rollins

Four of those five are competing for the top two titles in the company and the other is facing the top guy of the past 15 years. I think it is pretty safe to say that Vince McMahon being a "size queen" is a bit overstated. Or at the very least, a little bit of an old label that is probably best to be shed. He has been using smaller, more athletic guys at the top of the card, for quite some time now.
