This video is worth watching in its entirety - it's the end of day two presser.

Gase handles himself in an interesting way, it's refreshing to watch. On the one hand he's open, he talks freely, on the other hand he's not afraid to push back against questions that might be a bit silly.

Go check out 6:50 onwards. I think it's Chris Perkins asking a question about QB's, picks, and defensive plays. Gase is polite and calm the entire time but he pushes back. Being a fan of the NBA Spurs with Coach Pop known for the hard way he handles nonsense questions, and Belichick too doesn't get pushed around by the press. Might be a good sign of his mentality?

And go to 9:34 too for the last question. Gase stops himself from firing straight back at whoever is asking the question - and then tones it down a bit, but overall he seems conscious of attacks/criticisms being made against the DB's and isn't afraid to fire back to defend them.

    The exchange is:

Reporter - "It's only the second day but how are the DB's doing?"

Gase - "They're doing better than what you...(pause)...like...(pause)...how negative that you wanna be about it. Like, they're doing good. They're doing good."

When the season starts and the games start counting, I hope I like Gase then as much as I like him now. He is, by far, my favorite HC that we have had in a long time.

    ~If that makes any sense~

Its extremely refreshing. We've gone from Saban, who's clearly intelligent, but also not good in front of the camera, and just a lousy human being in many ways, to Cameron, who was in over his head a lost in all aspects of the job, to Sparano, who seemed to view any dealings with the media as a waste of his time, to Philbin, the walking corpse. Gase is such a big move in the right direction from all of that that its hard to even put it into words.

Perkins is, by far, my least favorite Dolphins' beat writer. The dude doesn't have a f-cking clue. If he can cover an NFL team, anyone can.

9.34 was Salguero. I thought he'd asked about DBs, though.

great post. These media guys are just relentless. It's like the new coach has to pay immediately for the prior year failures, which by the way hurt to the core. All the holes we have on the team must have been addressed (I'm being sarcastic).

The media here loves to criticize, but never have solutions. The easiest thing is Tannehill. What is their solution, if they are not happy?

Oh good catch! You're right, I've just checked, it was the DB's. Salguero mentioned it in his latest article:

"That’s why Gase, known for trash-talking with his players, took a good-natured swipe when I asked how the current group of cornerbacks practicing through two days of training camp are doing so far.

“They’re doing better than how negative you want to be about it,” Gase said. “They’re doing good. They’re doing good.”

I like it. Swag from a Dolphins coach. Gase is sticking up for his corners in the face of critical thinking."

The reporters want someone in the staff/team to just justify their negativity.
will be very interesting if we are successful, especially, early, what they say

did anyone see today's PC? Gase talked about Foster and the matchup hell he creates. A LB can't cover Foster, so when you pit a S on him, then you have a LB on our TE. I know that is simple, but in the past it was just talk. Now we have the talent and coaching staff to push those chess pieces together

One thing Gase does, which I like a lot, is talk about concepts. On another note, did you catch what he said about having receivers run their routes at full speed to help the QB/WR timing? It seems so simple, I wonder if we were one of those teams that practiced half-speed in the past. Yes, Philbin, I am looking at you.

"I mean hes a probowl player. Hes gunna make plays. Its what he does. That may be breaking news...."

    lmao!

These plebs in the media down there are so used to non answers or cake softballs because coaches are scared to get the media against them....Gase believes in his process and his coaches and is not holding back anything. Love it.
