Cool Pic! Love the bend of the light through the girders. Nice swirl on the seats. Sure when the top is on we'll lose that but looks cool. imo. (EDIT: Looked at for a bit and have to say that might get annoying. Reminds me of the old Zumba pants lol)

The image on the video screen looks simulated. There's no light reflection off of the seats below and just looks kinda funny, like it was done in photoshop. Still a cool photo though.

Really, there are a ton of European stadiums very much like Miami's. Nearly every soccer stadium has this sort of flat roof over the fans with an opening over the field.

But, here in the US it is definitely different - which I also like.

I really like our stadium. Especially that it benefits the fans so much (massive difference in temperature) and will add noise. I still dislike the lower level and how that has transpired - both still too flat but also those seats behind the bench are a terrible idea, imo. Fails the team, in many ways. Nevertheless, I love the rest.

Like a new day for Miami. Maybe this will actually change our fortune. Something needs to. It's been really bad since Joe Robbie was built.

If you don't think the venue plays a major role in the way those fans behave, We completely disagree and it's not worth getting into..

What do you hate about the lower lever? how do the seats behind the bench fail the team? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this.

Took the words out of my mouth, dj.

The fans who can afford those are going to be uber rich who are not going to be quite as rabid. It's basically a giant luxury box right behind the bench. Also, the number of seats are a lot fewer than there would have been otherwise. So, on both of those it means less rabid noise behind the bench when the team is needing noise to get them pumped.

I really like how these show the slope in the roof. I wonder how they plan for rain water to drain off? Just drop off the edges wherever? Surely not? That could get interesting as a fan in those heavy rains. Or will they have some sort of way to get it to drain into a particular area where there isn't fan traffic?

You have to know that the fan experience for games is going to be exponentially better - especially in the upper deck - without any sun hitting you and being able to stay mostly dry from the rain. That's just a huge bonus. I think a seat near the front of the upper deck (I once sat about 5 rows up there for a Monday Night game in the 90s) would be fantastic with the roof. Pretty pumped.

If I lived in So Flo that roof would really be a significant incentive to want to attend games.

Anyone with better knowledge than I (in b4 fin d joking "so everybody")

Why can't we slap a **** ton of solar panels on the top of the stadium and provide energy for the lights on the field/scoreboard/ potentially the surrounding neighborhood??? It's Miami, and will have a crap ton of sun exposure, why aren't we (government) funding this?!!?!?

I've thought the same thing! We have this HUGE flat roof, why isn't at least some part of it covered with enough solar panels to supply the stadium with energy? It seems so obvious.

The government does give a rebate, 30% back on the purchase, the electric bill on that place is astronomical, I don't think you could get enough panels on that square footage to offset the cost, you certainly could put a nice dent in it with that roof space...the problem in Florida is the hurricane situations...those things would fly off and become weapons..they're anchored in the roof but still..

In Florida (the Sunshine State), you're not allowed to be all solar.

Fantastic idea! I'd bet that even after it's completed they could do that. It could be the most environmentally positive stadium. It is ridiculous not to do it.

Some would say they are smart because passing that kind of legislation lines their pockets with Big Energy money. Smart, dumb....I dunno....corrupt? Abso-effing-lutely.

*SIGH* corruption at its boldest. Similar problem in Virginia. If you get your electric from Dominion Power, they are allowed to (and do) fine you if you have solar panels at your house.

It isn't as simple as everyone is trying to characterize IMO.

The big problem with allowing people to go completely solar is that it will create cross-subsidies for non-solar energy users. The economics behind regulated energy distribution make the system more efficient overall when everyone is connected. The more people disconnect entirely, the more costs increase for those that can't afford solar (the poor).

I believe that the government needs to do more to promote alternate forms of energy, but you also have to consider the impact of innovations such as this on a macro level.

the problem is simple, solar threatens dirty erergy utility companies...in Nevada it's completely shut down, think about that, you can't go solar in fu$$in Nevada..lol..in Cali, all you pay is a ten dollar connection fee to connect to the grid.

Not sure about the solar laws in Florida..but like I said if your a homeowner you gotta take into account hurricane season....in Cali there is no threat..
