Yeah, but I always got the impression that his wife never really liked living there. I felt the same about Saban's wife. http://www.harpersbazaar.com/celebrity/red-carpet-dresses/a560/savannah-brinson-lebron-james-0910/ Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
Please tell me this is not true. I'd be pissed if we gave Noah a 4 year 40 million dollar contract, he's not the player he was and the player he was wasn't worth that deal.
It would be a miracle if he signed here. I just dont see it happening. OKC is definitely nervous though, warriors and popovich is going to make strong cases.. But we have so many question marks as far as, Wade's health, is Whiteside going to be part of the team, is Dragic going to be part of the team..
I know that Miami will win with a dollar for dollar identical contract. That's a given. I've been saying that the engineered amount, let's call it $18 million for argument's sake, is not possible anymore. We won't be able to convince the agent to convince Hassan it's literally the exact same amount in "real" dollars, because the agent is worried that he'll get traded to a tax state mid-contract.
Some guys are really worried about the optics, too. Have heard a lot of players consider their contracts a sign of respect. So taking less than the max even if it equals the max from another team might not interest him bc then he's not a "max player." Not saying it'll be a problem - just that it is for some guys.
Well we're in the room so we have a chance GS and Spurs can't sign him outright without dumping salary. Don't know how Clips possibly do it Biggest question for us is how we fit all 3 (KD/Wade/HW) since I presume Whiteside is part of the attraction
We need to get on the phone with the grizzlies.. Draw their interest on dragic and see if we can get conley
Can't trade for Conley. He's a free agent and I'm not sure sign and trades like that are allowed anymore Pat and Andy know what they're doing. If they have already been told they have a meeting I'm sure they have an idea of what KD would like the team to look like. What they need to figure out is how serious he is. If you see Dragic traded before Friday, it's serious
Man, a front court of Whiteside/Bosh/KD would be devastating defensively How do you get to the rim with all that length and athleticism? And even if the worst happens with Bosh, you will have almost 2 full max slots for next year
I was very impressed with KD's defense in the GSW series. That FC would be tough for anybody to go against.
The six teams Durant will consider are reportedly OKC, GSW, SAS, Miami, the Clippers and the Celtics. The Clippers are a surprise as they have little to no cap space. I think they'd have to move Griffen. The Celtics have a ton of space and could actually sign two max players. Reportedly Durant gave them a list of players he'd like to play with. Speculation is that Horford is on that list.
All I know is the meetings are in NYC...Phil's doing it stealth. No way he didn't get a meeting 10 minutes away. Media just hasn't picked up on it.
Possible Laker team PG: Russell SG: Clarkson SF: Ingram PF: Randle C: Whiteside Bench: Williams/Nance Nice young nucleus who can make noise in 3/4 years if it happens
I don't know how you can figure the tone sounds desperate when the Internet has no tone. But I digress....
My bad, I couldnt detect the sarcasm. ****, I am getting old. In my heyday I would have had a snappy comeback for that too whippersnapper
I'm used to this kind of stuff as a Wizards fan but damn the Lakers are now a team not even worthy of a visit? Current ownership running that team into the ground. That Kobe farewell contract set that team back 5 years.
Actually, The Lakers are smart to avoid KD. They have a team full of young teenagers right now. KD doesn't help them get to a championship, long term. By the time these kids come into their own, KD will be an afterthought. Their best bet is to go after younger free agents and older veterans to fill out the bench. Players like Biyombo and Whiteside are perfect for them due to their ability to protect the rim, rebound and get the ball to the shooters who can space the floor. Lakers have had a game plan for a couple of years and have actually stuck by it. The tank job was on purpose, knowing that they could ride Kobe's name and still make money. The turn around starts this year and next. I believe the goal is to be a player in the West in two years. As a long time Lakers fan, I am actually encouraged by their moves the past two off seasons with regards to coaching changes, personnel contracts, etc.
I guess they didn't really go after Howard or Aldridge right? They've been trying to get big name free agents and no one would come presumably because of Kobe or because of the current ownership and their lack of talent. Their young players really haven't been anything more than decent so I don't know what kind of franchise players they have. Granted, they can't compete with GS or San Antonio regardless of the moves they could make but they have been trying every year to get big name free agents everyone has been saying no. LA wants Durant, he's saying no way, thats not a good sign for the franchise, I mean the Lakers used to get anyone they wanted. Its one thing to have a plan and try to tank its another thing to just suck and have an incompetent front office, the Lakers have been a dumpster fire ever since Buss died.
The Lakers are a rudderless ship and have fallen as far from possible from being a historically great franchise
I can't honestly characterize the Lakers as an organization that "has stuck to it's plan". I think it's more accurate to characterize them as an organization that has repeatedly tried and failed to bring in FAs.
The Lakers have gone after every big name Free Agent in recent memory, most aren't even giving them a visit so its certainly not a plan of their. Now you could argue that they are lucky they haven't gotten any of those free agents, been in the lottery a few times and are building a solid young roster but it certainly hasn't been their plan. They have wanted just about every big Free Agent over the last few years and none of them have signed there, its not a good sign.
Is this a rumor, or your thoughts? EDIT: I see the report http://www.si.com/nba/2016/06/26/kevin-durant-2016-free-agency-thunder-warriors-heat?xid=si_social Honestly, if Riley gets in a room with the guy that gives us as good a chance as any IMO. The fact that he almost sold Aldridge last year on taking the MLE says all you need to know about his persuasive powers.
Whiteside says he wants to make his decision on July 1st and he also said to throw "loyalty" out the window, it wont be a factor in his decision.
