Well I'm not real good at "doing" anything unless I try. Otherwise I'm doing it half-assed and will fail anyway. Plus I can't get anything "done" unless i "try" to.

    My own thoughts:..
When talking about drafting he seems to be saying that the picks will based on who he and others involved with our draft believe to be the right players for the team; that's all. The remarks about sentiments and COTTAGE INDUSTRY gurus were referring to who the so called draft experts deem worthy of specific spots to be drafted.
The cottage industry has nothing to do with cottage cheese, as some poster was joking about. The cottage industry refers to groups of analysts and researchers who get so involved with research, etc, that they lose sight of the objective. ie Mel Kiper and all the Kiper wannabes.
I also believe the sentiment remark was aimed more towards restating the above. In other words who we draft will be based on expertise within the Dolphins organization, period.
Also, I realize that the "Ginn and his family" has been a punchline, but IMO Cam was just trying to make a point about having drafted a quality character player.

because of everybody's hatred towards Cam's playcalling,Caper's defense, and Armstrong's ST play.

But S&C does need to improve. Even under Saban we'd start the season really slow, then come alive (kind of) midway through the season. Cam didn't help matters this year by basically giving the vets on D the summer off.

Living in New York, I had the great pleasure of watching the guy build up the New York Giants from nothing. The Giants are my 2nd favorite team, my NFC team so to speak. Him and Shula are my two favorite coaches of all time. Shula obviously number one. Anyone who hasnt had the pleasure of listening to the guy on a weekly basis is in for a treat. The guy gets football. He actually makes press conferences fun to listen too

People seem to be under the impression that Parcells will micromanage everyone: coach, GM, players etc. I don't think that will be the case. The people he puts in place will do the work, will choose the schemes, and use the players how they see fit. The only difference is we trust Bill to pick the right people to do the job.

I don't think he'll be able to watch from the sidelines for very long. I think he'll be our Coach, not right away but I think it'll happen.

So long as everybody agrees on the philosophy. And in the press conference he did say that he would hope that whoever the GM and coach are, he would hope that they could brainstorm ideas. What do you think that means? Do you really think he's going to have people that disagree with his "suggestions"

I just think agreeing on a common philosophy is not the same as VP Bill Parcells choosing which QB will be here next year and whether we run the 3-4 Defense. He'll bring in people that he trusts to do the job and he will let them do the job. I think there is a subtle difference between that and Bill as the puppet master.

Sometimes I think people will expect Bill to call in the coach and tell him to kick a FG or go for it if it is 4th and goal

Just like he did today and said Cam has to worry about preparing the team for this week's game and he will meet with him next week. I think that is how he will be. Let the coach coach. He'll just make sure we have the right one.

If you think of the time when Pat Riley retired from coaching and was just the President of the Heat. He was pretty hands off with the coaching. He along with the GM made the moves to bring in the championship pieces but he rarely interfered with Stan Van Gundy's coaching. Heck, most of the times he was hiding up in the Sky Box during the games because he didn't want his presence hovering over everyone. I think that is the apprach Bill will take.

Of course in the end Riley came back and tossed Van Gundy out of the way to do the job himself....so maybe Parcells does that in a few years too

He is the Big Dog, no doubt about it.

I liked the subtle pressure he exerted by saying that we'd won one game this year, "hopefully 2"...

I always found it interesting the kinds of players that Parcells likes. He loved LT, but he is also good friends with Keyshaun. He didn't want to draft Glenn and derided him in the media, but then he brought him over to Dallas, where he played very well for him.

I cant see that happening, hes 66yrs of age. Maybe this job is his way of getting as close to being a Head Coach now as he can. Not HC but next best thing for his health and sanity.

Parcells is a micro-manager. I have followed him since day one with the Giants. He would want a plan for every single aspect of the game including the way the wind would funnel at the Meadowlands with the opening or closing of doors.

There was no detail too small for Parcells.

I could buy into this thinking....the thing that I just dont get or see yet with the signing is what is Parcells going to do as VP? Not HC, not even GM but VP of Operations.

How much true influence and control will he have once the coin toss happens and the ball is in the air.

heck, comparing him to a young Shula just doesnt cut it since he wont be on the sideline (unless he pulls a J. Jones and comes on down) to make calls, to scream at players, to talk in the locker room and drive guys.

I am still on the fence as to how this signing really equates to an improved team...cause at the end of the day if it doesnt equal that its all just window dressing by Wayne.

I've thought about that as well.

It seems like maybe Wayne didn't have the stones to fire Cam after just one year and brought in the Tuna to clean up the mess.

I think in theory, he should be able to set up a structure like he has spoken about, but whoever he hires as a new coach won't be as good a coach as he used to be regardless...

He will have his people in place so he won't need to have control after the coin toss. It's like cooking, he will have everything prepared, so all the HC has to do during the game is follow the directions.

    1) I only wish it were that easy during an actual game
    2) Parcells doesnt seem like a guy (personality) that can easily sit and watch and hope it all goes to plan vs. demanding to be the guy on the hook making the calls when its not going to plan.
    3) I hope it works out - but right now I think its just window dressing

Yeah my comment was him as a coach. i'm as much on the fence as you. I dont know how he'll do as VP. I think he'll be ok but I also think we're going to waste another year by installing his guys andI'm not sure how much better they'll be. I'm not as critical of Cameron as others on this board. But it seems inevitable he's gone. I was really hoping to see one more year out of Cameron but now it will probably be Sporano

The thing he does bring is massive contacts throughout the NFL and the knowledge of being through the wars, something Cameron lacked. I had hoped we named Parcells coach last year but now I just hope whatever we do set up we stick with. i am tired of the constant overhauls this team goes through year in and year out
