If you could guarantee one, REALISTIC, improvement this year, to the current Dolphins team, that would make you happy, what would it be? I'm sure most people have a few, so you can list them, but please indicate which is your absolute top choice if you could have ONLY ONE. There are a few things I'd like: A healthy Cam Wake causing havoc (along with the D-line). A coaching style/scheme that actually gels with the team and works. More Tannehill deep ball bombs and a more mobile RT17. Some serious ground and pound attitude disrespecting opposing DL's. But my one supreme choice, is to have a healthy and decent performing OL. Enough of the swiss cheese impersonations. My one wish is for an OL that does a GOOD job of protecting Tannehill. Seeing our OL actually stand up to good defenses (and if you include more of a running scheme for Ryan in that then fine). How about you?
I am with you. A good o-line should help RT and our running game. How could anybody not be happy with that?
Though, at this point, unproven, an OL minus D. Thomas along with adding one of the top draft prospects who is an OLimeman is already a massive improvement. How about a scary aggressive, ball hawking D?
Oline improvement. If that is fixed and Tannehill doesn't improve then we know that we have to go out and get another Qb. If the Oline performs and Tannehill improves then we can start working on the defense next offseason.
My wish is that Gase shows he can be a top tier head coach over the long term and not just another quality OC who isn't capable of being an NFL head coach. I see this as a three year rebuilding process for the Dolphins. If Gase proves to be a solid hire at the head coaching position, then I can see this being a playoff team by 2018. If he isn't , then in three years they will be looking to hire a new head coach and the process will start over again.
I wish that RT turns the corner. If RT establishes himself as a legit QB, I think that a considerable amount of our other problems would disappear. I really, really think it would be bad if QB is a need going into next year's draft. From everything I've read/seen it looks like the well is going to be empty next year. In addition, I think if RT is playing at a relatively high level, finding other positions in the draft will be eas-, easyish, well, let's just say doable.
A force on D. I want them to create turnovers through fumble recoveries, and ball hawk any passes that go behind the front 7.
I could send you an old roomba, maybe put a plastic blowup schmoo on top. Duct tape is an amazing scientific breakthrough...We could call it the Melvin Gordon.
wishing for or guaranteeing is two different things I wish for a 248 lb motivated dion jordan. I gurantee Gase is a better coach than philbin or Lazor.
I wish for adequate play from our LB corps as a group. I don't need for them to be fantastic, just average play from our LBs all season.
Thank you! This is the ultimate answer. Our biggest weaknesses have been coaching and roster depth. Especially pertaining to the affor mentioned o-line. A legitimate NFL coach & staff can, and will, cure much of the ills that have plagued this team. I'm starting to believe Adam Gase is the young Don Shula we've been looking for....if I'm right, that will make more a difference than any one player or unit. Last year's hype is better placed on this year's model IMO.
