Except the big difference is, Wade had a relationship with Bosh and Lebron outside of the court, and still has. He's a very big reason why they came here. We have no connection to Durant at all, as a matter of fact he threw shade at Wade once saying he's no longer a top shooting guard and that James Harden is the best SG in the league. Btw, how stupid do those comments sound now when you compare Harden and Wade this season?

There's almost no chance, especially now that the Thunder are legit contenders to a championship.

We have a better chance at getting Lebron back here... and if I were to put a percentage of Lebron leaving Cleveland to return to Miami, I'd put that at 2%.

If it's possible, I'd like to target Manhimi, Jefferson, Mozgov.. I also want Batum attached to one of those centers.. I want depth at Center for sure though.

I'd also like to take a flyer on Jerebko

Need depth at center. But what this team really needs is shooting IMO. Glaring weakness right now.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I think you're selling Riley incredibly short. This is a man that got a meeting with Lamarcus Aldridge when his team had zero cap space last offseason. Other than Washington, what ties does Durant have to anywhere else? The guy wants to win. If he wants to win, tying yourself to Pat Riley on an Eastern Conference team is a pretty good option. There's a reason why guys like Stephen A. Smith have Miami in the conversation for Durant. Is it likely that he'll be here? Probably not. But if there's any chance at all, I'd like to keep that option open, and the only way for that to happen is for OKC to lose.

Here's a good article with lots of quotes by Deng that suggest he might be willing to take a discount to stay in Miami. http://blogs.herald.com/miami_heat/...ve-the-heat-a-discount-this-summer-maybe.html

I also found this part interesting:

He must be mistaken, right? Miami fans are the worst. They're not real NBA fans like those in Cleveland or Chicago. I mean, the only other fans Deng has to compare Heat fans to are...oh. :shifty:

Agreed on both counts. Love Batum, but the way Deng played after the ASB was inspiring. I would be very happy keeping Luol.

we played our game for 3 quarters of game 6. out of 7 games. Still pushed it to 7 though...so that means, we need players that can impose our style on teams, and not have us react anymore.

    A) Shooting
    B) front court depth

Maybe this is just because he had a bad playoffs but to me Joe Johnson is the guy you replace. His shooting sucked before he got to the Heat, it went on fire when he arrived through the end of the season, then sucked again in the playoffs. His pace just does not look compatible with what's going on around him. He was a good option for offense considering we were desperate, but certainly not ideal.

Luol Deng is a keeper. He's got such good stamina. And he started hitting his threes pretty well like a stretch four.

I'm excited what they can do developing Richardson, Johnson and Winslow. Yes they could use some better shooting but to some degree they're going to always be limited that way by Goran and Wade. We are getting great role play shooting from Tyler Johnson and Josh Richardson, how much better can we get? Would be nice if Winslow develops this way. I saw Section's tweet about Justise's steadily rising three point percentage.

Really I kind of wonder if Wade couldn't embrace it more and carry what he did in the playoffs over to the regular season. It strikes me as a mindset thing. I realize he's had playoffs where he shot from three this well before and it didn't translate, but he's also had regular seasons where he shot from three this well at a high volume. Like I said it could be a mindset thing and I'd really try and get him to embrace it as he gets older.

Bosh coming back would be so huge. There might be a tendency to get greedy and kind of minimize that, but it changes so many things, as does the development of the young guards. There are so many irons already in the fire that way, you'd hate to screw that up.

Also, in Deng, I'd want him back, but he has a lot less value as a spot up shooting 3 with Bosh than as a stretch 4 sans Bosh

    Interesting dilemma here.

Deng blossomed as a slashing 4. And that's exactly where Bosh prefers to be (4). In our desired high tempo offense, Bosh is better as a 5. And that's where Whiteside lives.

Ideally, one of these guys comes off the bench. But would any of these guys realistically accept and transition to such a role?

Oh and nice of the NBA to reward the 2 biggest tank jobs in the history of sports with the Lakers and 6ers. I mean why not dump your salary lose for a year if they are going to make sure you get a lottery pick in the top 3?

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

This doesn't make much sense. All other leagues literally give the worst teams the best draft picks. In the NBA, they at least have a chance of not getting it, depending on how the balls drop. Granted, the 76ers came out and told everyone they were planning on tanking for awhile, but that still means their fans suffer for years while they execute whatever plan they are executing.

I suppose you think The Heat deserve the top pick for some reason?

I'm reading this unlikely bonus thing here:

    http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q74

    It says:
I'm not so sure it's such a viable strategy. Also Larry Coon says that the unlikely bonuses that are achieved are added back for the calculation of luxury tax.

Besides, there's a more plausible idea of a discount for Whiteside in Barry Jackson's blog using the advantage that Miami can offer a 7.5% annual increase while other teams can only offer a 4.5% annual increase. You can use that to bring a present value discount in the first year.

    Done some studying on this....

there is one spectacular deadline deal to be made. There is a rumor going around that Atlanta will strip down the team for 2017.

Kyle Korver is on a 5.7mil expiring deal. Heat need to concentrate on getting in on any three way attempt to dump Korver. His salary slot fits perfectly.

Like I said before Lowry dug his own grave. Efficiency numbers through the roof for Lebron today. Did ya miss the part where Lebron takes mental notes?? How do you throw shade at a guy that notoriously responds with motivation and anger and is a top player

When he made the comment, it was absolutely 100% dumb.

    And even now...

One guy played 14 playoff games and the other played 5....and the one that played 14...outplayed the one that played 5:

And they should be rewarded for that? The purpose of the system was so that teams don't do that.

It would be strange for Mutombo to somehow know before hand, but it's certainly possible, and his reaction to it is a little fishy. The league has been accused of rigging the lotto for years. This is just one more thing to come out that makes people think about it.

Boston is a team people don't discuss much, but I could see as a place that might entice Durant. Ainge is going to do everything he can to get a Blake Griffin / Jimmy Butler type.

(Also I think Riley's resume is good enough you can say Wade had way more to do with getting LeBron than Riley and that not really tarnish how great Riley is / was / will be)

That's why you have Luol Deng playing 4 when Bosh is off the floor and 4 when Whiteside is off the floor. I don't know the exact number of minutes you can get with him doing that but it's probably a lot.

Sure, I could see that. I think Boston may have a chance, but to say Miami never had a chance is shortsighted, IMO.

And while I agree with your last statement, that's not what I meant by selling him short. If you aren't giving Riley any credit for that, you're crazy, and if you think he won't give the Heat a fair crack at Durant if he does in fact leave OKC, then you're crazy. I also think that while Wade may have been the catalyst for LeBron coming (Wade was never great friends with Bosh, so I'm not giving credit to Wade on that one), Riley was the one who got it done. He put the plan in motion, and made sure it was possible.
