Now you're contradicting yourself, AND you still ignored my question. I implore you, to reread my posts in this thread. Forget everything else you've been arguing or think you've been arguing. Really reread what I wrote and discuss it with me, because you're literally contradicting yourself, ignoring what I said and asked and basing everything you're saying on an argument from 4 years ago. Its a little cuckoo.
i want to have this discussion but I'm not gonna reread, I know what your saying, I don't know how I can be more clear.. Start over..I will explain my stance as best and simply as possible.
They'd be worse. Worse oline at times, and worse receivers. Imagine throwing to Baldwin, Kearse, Richardson, Lockette, Luke Wilson. Those are your receivers. No line. No receivers.
Un-effing -believable. You guys are so freaking ridiculous. You basically just argued that the Dolphins are a better team than Seattle, save for their QB. I think you just proved my point.
No they argued Wilson makes up for the lack of everything else... you're not that dense to understand that, or are you?
No they didn't. They may spin it that way now, but saying Thill would be WORSE on Seattle than here means they believe our team is better than Seattle except at QB.
Probably. Most QBs not already on good teams would be better with a better surrounding team. If not, what's the point of having talent at any other position besides QB? Its beyond stupid to think that a ****ty oline and no tools to deal with said ****ty oline (like being able to audible or have a run game) don't effect a QB's numbers. Absolutely beyond stupid.
If Thill would be better there, then it stands to reason that Wilson also benefitted from playing there and would be hindered playing here. Yes?
You're right, he;d suck on a team with talent. Why even bother signing anyone not off the street. You got a great QB? Then you're done according to you guys.
Stop, you know what you're doing. Would Philip Rivers have better numbers on a better team like Seattle, yes or no? Real simple.
Actually it is not that simple. Their is a difference between better teams and better situations.....certain players with certain skill sets thrive in situations other Qbs can't. Rivers is a very good natural QB who has had no real help in years. But, in SEA because he is not very mobile by comparison he would not be better. No real glaring difference in SEA/SD pass catchers....SD line is not great but MUCH better than Wilsons which has been the worst pass blocking OL in the league in a 4yr span. Would Wilson be better in SD than Rivers?? I doubt that also...maybe a stale mate.
What numbers are you talking about specifically? The Bengals have a ****ty o-line and no tools? Seems like one of the most stacked teams in the NFL to me. Outside if the QB position they are way more talented than the Seahawks on offense. For my money they have the best o-line and the best receiving corps in the NFL. Dalton benefits by having the second highest passer rating in the NFL (second only to Wilson). Everybody understands this which is why, unlike with Wilson, you don't have anybody making grand proclamations about Andy Dalton. Nobody gives a **** about Andy Dalton and his "numbers."
Seattle has better coaching. The strength of Seattle isn't a player, its that the coaches adapt to their players. They do what they can to put their players in situations to succeed based on those players skill sets. Their front office is on the same page. They have Wilson, an escape artist for a QB, so put the money in safety outlets like TE and on the other side of the ball. If their QB was Rivers, they'd no doubt work more on the line and gameplan around his limitations and abilities. So yes, he'd be better there, most QBs would. As I've said 1,000,000,000,000,000 times here...the tools were taken from Thill to manage his poor oline. Plain and simple. If the staff gave him the tools that Wilson has been given (of course not counting Wilson's ability to vanish and reappear 10 yards down the field), then Thill would be able to handle the poor oline better. Bad coaching has taken away his ability to audible, taken away his running game and given him a poor route structure (bunched to one side all short of the sticks) with which to thrive. Would Thill play and produce like Wilson if he was in Seattle instead? Nope, but he'd be better and better to the point no one would question if he's franchise or not. Would Wilson play and produce like Wilson if he was in Miami instead of Seattle? Nope. There'd be questions about him being franchise (maybe not as many as there are for Thill, but they would still be there.)
Address and cholesterol. I didn't say they had a ****ty oline and no tools. Please quote for me where I said that. I'll wait..... ... ... ... .. ... ... Ok, now that you realize you jumped to conclusions maybe you want to try again.
Putting up better numbers is not the equation that defines a great QB, performing well in high pressure situations is what marks a great QB. Whether a QB is good or bad, if you put them on a better team their numbers will get better, but they remain what they are, bad or good. Being a leader is one of the most important factors for a franchise QB, and that leadership is the difference in winning and losing high pressure games against teams of comparable talent.
This draft has grown on me a little. I still hate missing out on Myles Jack. Walking away with two of the top 5 prospects in this draft would of been something else. I'm still not feeling Howard or Drake tbh, but I like almost every other pick. Carroo could legitimately become the steal of the WR class. Grant looks like a video game come to life. Duarte could very well be another Jordan Reed. Although I'm worried that his blocking ability, or lack there of, get's him cut since he's not going to supplant JC or DS. I really hope he learns special teams quickly. Day 1 and 3 for Miami was pretty strong. Day 2, question marks exist, but I'm hoping for the best, especially regarding Howard. There were so many talented players on the board, I'm really going to feel let down if he doesn't turn out to be a quality starter within three years.
Cliffs: - Worst draft ever - Mocking OP that he hasn't seen any other draft - Reminising about terrible drafts in Miami Dolphins history - Can't judge a draft until year 3 - Tannehill sucks crowd stops in and derails thread
Just in the way of fairness, I have to say that it was more on the QB17 supporters derailing the thread, to sum up; JD makes a point about how this offense heavy draft really puts the onus on QB17, and "no more excuses", and the pro QB17 guys said "hold on, there still may be some excuses".
...with the 187th pick in the 2016 draft, the Miami Dolphins select...the exhumed corpse of Jimmy Durante, QB, Whatsamatta U.
And being neutered by the coaching staff at every turn severely infringes that QB's ability to lead. The most high pressure situations he has faced and failed to produce is against division opponents that knew our tendencies. Do you really think its hard for a Bowles or a Ryan to craft a defensive gameplan for a team with a **** oline that can't audible and is barely gonna run...especially when they play us multiple times a year? Marino was great. He dictated to the defense what he was gonna do. That wasn't just because of his greatness though, it was also because Shula didn't hamstring him. Marino was a different QB when JJ took over, because JJ wanted to handcuff him and did to a certain extent. And no, I'm not comparing Thill to Marino. I'm simply using an obvious example to illustrate that a QBs job is already hard, so making it harder isn't generally a recipe for success. Hopefully Gase is what we've been promised he is and he will gameplan around Thill's strengths unlike the last staff.
I don't know if anything can top our epic 2013 draft with 5 selections in the first 3 rounds yielding 0, count em, 0 good starters and only 1 contributor. Which I even hesitate to say Thomas has contributed to anything besides the opposing defenses success.
So back on topic... we just signed what was not even debated to be the best OT in the 2016 draft. To a four year contract worth less than 3million a year!!! Best draft ever maybe. At least in this decade.
wrong.. ryans qbr might raise a bit from playing with a better defense behind him, wilson would be about the same because he's already shown you what he can do with no lynch, poor line, and average wide receivers.. what you dont seem to get his how much of Seattle's success is directly related to the overall skill set of wilson.. your so busy trying to find ways on how wilson benefits while not seeing that its mostly a result of his overall skills..
