It's mind blowing how epic that collapse was in the 4th quarter. Traveling on an inbounds pass? The refs also tried to **** us again. In the end though, that was an enormous win. Going to OT like that I thought it was over. It's incredibly hard to come back from that. But then Miami took over in OT, and save for some BS calls and a couple more freak mistakes, they still pull out the win. Toronto will be in must win mode in game 2, but I think we can take it and bury them early. P.S. Do fans in Canada not understand the rules. The loud booing on obvious fouls was crazy.
That's how I felt. Good lord the style of basketball they play is terrible and borderline unwatchable. They look like a team that should be an eight seed
That was like child berth. Heat should petition the league for 2 wins for that one. League allowed muggings last night in the OKC-SAS game in "foul and score" situations. So they learned their lesson right? Ref has to know that the raptors where instructed....INSTRUCTED...to FOUL. so of course..you swallow your whistle and then call a foul on us on a loose ball. Then...DO IT AGAIN in Overtime when they fouled Wade intentionally. Jesus H. Christ. Well..usually, after stealing game 1 on the road, you usually get your doors blown off in game 2. Toronto will bring ENERGY..and try to ride that. Take that away..come out with equal energy and play Good.....Just Good. Because we played like crap tonight. We do that...we can make short work of this team. Very encouraging to win on the road in the playoffs while you play like absolute garbage for the most part (on offense) Ok, this ones over, time to move on.
We committed 10 turnovers between the 4th quarter and OT. I mean we played an epically ugly game on the road and still won.. Just two things I want spo to adjust Joe Johnson is a career 80% free throw shooter, Richardson is a rookie. Intentional foul free throws go to Joe. Find someone else that can inbound the ball. Deng made too many mistakes, or have Deng work on it during our day off. He's a veteran I trust he can correct the mistakes.
Deng is known for being one of the most reliable inbound men in the NBA. He made TWO bone head mistakes inbounding the ball tonight.
Just 12 assists tonight, and we run an offense that uses a lot of ball movement... Toronto has no idea what's coming to them soon..
We're the better team, especially with Lowry playing like this. We also have a substantial coaching advantage. Only reason that game was even close was turnovers. And I guess Valley boy winning the (one legged) Whiteside matchup. We were awful. I didn't mind all the old-school iso ball though. I kinda liked it - especially through Joe with the 2nd unit. Aside from maybe Carroll who played the 4, TOR doesn't have the guys to guard Wade, Joe, and even Goran one-on-one. We're just better at getting buckets that way.
No wonder it looked like both teams were trying to lose tonight. The Heat had lost 8 straight game ones on the road, and the Raptors had lost 6 straight game ones period. It was like a stoppable force meeting a movable object.
I would say the Heat lose big in game two...but I don't know if the Raptors are smart enough. Heat had completely dead legs out there, and now two of the most important legs on the team are injured in addition to being dead. Wade is going to play with a hobbled knee. Whiteside was sluggish on his knee even with adrenaline pushing him through, I hate to think what he's going to look like to start game two. Joe Johnson looks like Paul Pierce on Ambien. Stoudemire makes fewer appearances than Tupac. The only guy that plays with any amount of energy and control at the same time is Dragic and he's going to come down at some point because he had a pretty brutal seven game series against the Hornets. There are times you wonder if the Heat can even get off a pass with these dead legs. Thing is I watch Dwane Casey after the game and he's talking about how he liked the pace. Really?? Because if you upped the pace a little bit, you'd have put the Heat to bed for some much needed rest. Early instead of keeping us up all night. So maybe the Heat can win again but if they do it will be Casey's poor judgment, I would think.
We got to throw something new at them next game that they aren't game planning for. Perhaps let Winslow attack more, maybe Joe wakes up and makes a ton of shots. Something has to give, but I want to step on their throats and take Game 2.
Disagree. Upped Pace helps Miami. They run a lot of early actions, and they shoot exponentially better early in the shot clock. It's a system thing.
We played sloppy, we missed countless layups/dunks, we turned the ball over, we got crappy calls, yet we never lost control of the game. I think part of the reason Charlotte took us to 7 is because we blew them out the 1st 2 and slept on them afterwards. Id have to say were alert and focused after almost letting this one slip away. That D wade speech/chew the **** out the whole team, i dont remember seeing that 1st round.
Joe Johnson wasn't that bad guys...he was 7-16 for 16 points. Those are good numbers for what essentially is your 4th option.
And he got the team off to a good start in OT. I don't have a problem with his play tonight. I would like to see a little less iso with him, but it's nice to have a guy that can score when they need someone other than the regular guys to.
Prediction for Game 2- 1. Raptors come out with energy but at the slightest bit of a comeback from the Heat they fold like an accordion. 2. Heat fans complain about the officials.
I watched last night! Wade got away with a blatant travel on the game clinching steal and layup! That shot clock violation that got over-turned was a joke! Log in here "Refs tried to screw us again!"
First of all: 1) Learn the rule. It is not college. You can go from your knees, to a gather of the ball and then dribble. In the NBA, it is not a travel. In College it is. Second of all: 2) The replay showed it hit the rim. I didn't think so at first, then TNT showed the view the Refs saw, and sure enough it hit the rim. Your post was really bad Phin-O. really bad. Two swings and misses
That Lowry heave should have been reviewed. That play is exactly why you have replay in the first place. There was plenty of time. Shocked. Thank god it worked out for the best
Also, how crazy is it that J-Rich looks like a better pick than Winslow? If Justise can get his shot together we have quite the young core
Justise gets himself in great position all the time he just doesn't seem to finish. If he can develop that his potential is sky high. That being said J Rich looks like a top ten pick not a second rounder.
Ah, you want to look at multiple angles before making a judgement? (Annnnnnnnnd there's supposed to be an image here but I'm dumb and don't know how to post them after 10 damn years on this site. Go here - https://twitter.com/SBNationNBA/status/727688930410283011)
I think Winslow looks pretty good. I expect the finishing to come to him (though I thought the same of Waiters at one time).
??? You posted the Kyle Lowry shot. The shot clock violation. Trust me...TNT had the angle and they were surprised themselves that the ball actually did hit the rim, and where all congratulating themselves on having the angle. it hit the rim.
Don't get me wrong, I love Winslow and think he has a chance to be a terrific two way player, but J-Rich is pretty clearly the better overall player today, which is just stunning for the 40th pick
I'm saying the angle you're all touting for the Lowry shot was awful and didn't really prove much. From other angles it doesn't look like he stepped out. Either way. Y'all won. Calls went both ways, for sure. The refs aren't out to get you. (I will say that it's funny that right after I posted this, the SB Nation Cavs blog wrote a post about the Cavs not getting calls and I'm buddies with all those guys. So pot, meet kettle.)
I wondered if Lowry stepped out on that half-court shot during the game, but despite looking it was never conclusive in my mind. But Wade did not travel on that game clinching steal. They discussed it either during the game or on Inside the NBA afterwards (I can't recall which) and chastised the twitter-verse for getting the college and NBA rule mixed up. They also mentioned that Wade was pretty obviously fouled on two of those inbound plays.
The problem is your angle is insufficient when it comes to showing whether the side of his foot was out of bounds or not. You can't even see the side of his foot. I'm a little confused, are you just trying to bait and troll people for amusement or are you actually bringing up arguments you really believe?
The problem is that the image you guys are all passing around is insufficient as well! I'm not trying to bait or troll. You guys talk about the refs screwing you after literally every single game. Simply bridging the idea that it's not true isn't baiting or trolling.
The point remains that the play should've been reviewed. Maybe it ends up standing and that's fine. But make sure you get it right
The refs absolutely tried to screw Miami in the Charlotte series, that's why they (the Heat FO) complained and MIRACULOUSLY..the officiating changed in the last two games. In this game, they had the same bout with insanity they had in the OKC-Spurs game..we just pointed it out.
Again - what possible motivation could the NBA have for trying to make Charlotte win that series? A Heat vs Cavs ECF is easily the only thing worth watching in the Eastern playoff bracket. What is the reasoning that these different crews over multiple games were specifically trying to screw the Heat out of that series?
