going into this draft most knew it needed to be mostly defense. out of the first 5 selections only 1 plays on that side of the ball........
I'm scratching my head over the Grant pick. He's fast, quick, and tough...but we don't need another WR.
Phuuuuuk yeah, we got Jakeem Grant! Damn, I'm loving this draft... he's ridiculous in space. Think of him as a fast Davon Bess, Wes Welker.
Honestly why does anyone even answer the phone when the Patriots call? They just use teams on draft day, always amassing tons of picks, always an idiot GM out there that helps them out. We are ****ing chasing this team, you don't ever help them. Period.
I just find it unbelievable that the Dolphins went through all last years draft and into the sixth round of this years draft and they still haven't drafted a LB. This is a BIG need for the Dolphins, but they constantly ignore it. In fact they have basically ignored a defense which was terrible last year. Other than two players the Eagles couldn't wait to get rid of and a CB that may or may not be an upgrade for a bad secondary, I am at a total loss as to what they are trying to achieve in regards to upgrading this defense. Hopefully the offense can score 40 points a game with all the additions they have added in this draft. Because they are going to need to score that many, just to be competitive. Because it appears their defense could be worse this year than they were last year.
Looks like the draft has been heavily influence by Gase. It seems clear they are trusting his vision entirely and giving him what he wants to get the offense running efficiently.
@AbramsonPBP 4 minutes ago #Dolphins make it official: They gave up 196 (6th) and 227 (7th) to draft Jakeem Grant at 186 (6th)
So I'm just looking at some videos of Jakeem. This kid just jumped onto a platform 6' high and landed on his feet. I'm scratching my head as to why another WR, but part of me is seeing the genius over drafting this kid.
I'm not saying it is the norm. What I am saying is intuitively giving up a 4th round pick in 2017 for a 5th round pick in 2016 is a bad idea. I don't see how that is a hard concept to grasp.
Thanks for posting this. It looks like he will be the answer as the teams kick returner. He should also create excitement as a fourth or fifth WR. Yet I am still questioning why they have spent only one draft pick on the defense. Because that is where they needed the most help going into the draft.
I am happy you are, seriously, and I hope you are correct about the outcome, if you are we'll call it Panda's draft.
I wonder if he can play in the secondary or at LB, because they need help there more than they needed another WR.
Jokes gonna be on you guys when you see this kid play. Best to ever lace up at Texas Tech at wr. Damn, we got some serious weapons.
Braunecker and Ratelle still out there, man, I would have overdrafted these fools, lol, but I do think they are players.
our mike is injury-prone, so what do we have behind him? wake is old and coming off a major injury. what potential young starting de is on the roster?
Traded to Browns. Swapped 7th rounders. Basically means they were going to cut his *** and managed to get a bag of chips for him.
@chrisperk 3 minutes ago #Dolphins trade 250th pick (7th round) and CB Jamar Taylor for Cleveland's 223rd pick (7th round).
No one is questioning his playmaking ability. We are simply questioning why the defense has been almost completely ignored in this draft? There have been no LB's added to a very mediocre group on the Dolphins roster and only one CB added to what I consider a below average secondary. No pass rushers added and this was already one of the worst defenses in the league going into the draft. I don't care if the new DC is better than Coyle or not. If he doesn't have talented players to coach, this defense is going to continue to be terrible for another season. I really don't see anywhere on the defense where the team has upgraded since the season ended. They are weaker at DE and I personally think Grimes is better than Maxwell. Alonso might be an upgrade if he can play to his 2013 level, but that was three years ago. So we have no way of knowing if this often injured LB will be any better than average or if he will even make it through the season without being injured again. Because based on their time with the Dolphins, we know Misi and Jenkins are merely an injury waiting to happen. I guess the 2017 draft will have to be the draft where they concentrate on rebuilding this awful Dolphin defense. Oh well, at least the Dolphins should be exciting on offense and special teams. Of course with their defense, Grant should get plenty of opportunities to return kickoff after the other team scores.
