Ryan Tannehill, DeVante Parker and Jay Ajayi looking good at Dolphins minicamp

As important offensive players go, it doesn't get much more significant on the Miami Dolphins than quarterback Ryan Tannehill, wide receiver DeVante Parker and running back Jay Ajayi.

And all three have appeared sharp in the first two days of the Dolphins' voluntary veterans minicamp. That should offer lots of hope for Dolphins fans wondering what the new offense will look like under first-year coach Adam Gase.

Gase, known for his ability to work with quarterbacks, likes what he sees from Tannehill, who was sacked 45 times last year, which was the second-lowest total of his four-year career.

"I guess I'm still trying to figure out a few things," Gase said of Tannehill, "but I guess I didn't realize how live his arm was. The more I watch him throw, it's effortless and that ball travels down the field pretty good. He's hit some big plays, and just underneath having some touch.

Tannehill, criticized for his deep passes and pocket presence, seems to be improving on the deep ball for the second consecutive year. He hit wide receiver Jarvis Landry on a well-thrown pass Tuesday and did the same with Parker on Wednesday.

Parker, who battled a foot injury last season, seems destined for a quick start.

"It looks like that [rookie] year just being in a program and then getting to play some games, he seems to be a quick study," Gase said.

"You can tell he's pretty sharp. He's picking up what we're doing really quickly. I've been really impressed with the fact it seems every day we come in he's on it, he knows what to do, and he's very attentive in meetings."

"I think he's focused on what he's trying to do right now. He looks out there right now and he knows he's the starter … he's impressed me more both days from the first day to the second day. So we'll just keep learning and we'll just giving him opportunities."

Ajayi likes that approach.

"I've been excited since I found out that Lamar [Miller] was going to be moving on and that position would be available," Ajayi said.

"I've just been pushing myself through this offseason to prepare myself to have a great sophomore season. I was able to get a lot of opportunity last year when I finally started playing and I felt comfortable, and now I'm just ready to kind of elevate my game to a new level this season."

I know it's early but I'm feeling it. This is good to see. I want to see this continue as the training camp approaches.

Good to see Ajayi is gonna be at 218 this year, he did play heavy last year, should make a very big difference in how he moves...he just wasn't peak last year..
