http://www.thephinsider.com/2016-mi...erbacks-eli-apple-william-jackson-artie-burns Good article on how we've been sizing up the cornerback position more than anything else. The article hints at Tannenbaum double dipping on corners. I like the discussion in the comments even more than the articles, same for Mando's articles. I don't think we double dip, but I think we add one in the first two rounds. Kinda excited to see what TBaum will do. He's unorthodox to say the least. I could see him moving up to grab Ramsey or Jack. Nobody has a clue what Tannenbaum will do, not even Tannenbaum.
Do you think it's a good idea to move up to grab someone? I don't know if we can afford to lose any picks this year. I'm just curious on the pros and cons of doing that.
I think he values quality over quantity. So his likely response would be, "well, we can't afford not to lose picks this year." I like the approach, to be honest. Most picks are a waste of time. I mean would you rather have Laremy Tunsil, or Conky and Artie Burns? The whole, "we can't afford it" theory is bunk in regards to the draft. Bottom line is you're getting cheap labor anyway. I've seen Ireland save up and completely whiff with Dion. We've seen him trade back for Odrick and Misi and pass on Gronkowski out of fear of his medical. At the very least, Tannenbaum does not operate with any fear.
That's true he doesn't. So then I shouldn't be surprised if he does a whole bunch of things in this year's draft. Let's just hope that they are good things.
You have a lot more faith in Tannebuam than I do. I look at the mess he left the Jets in when he was with them and how the Dolphins went from 8-8 to 6-10 with him as head of football operations. This makes me question why this man is in the position he is with the Dolphins. He may not have any fear as you suggest. But that doesn't mean he knows how to build a quality football team. I would rather see Grier and Gase making all the football decisions. I really don't see a need for Tannebaum now that they have these two men as GM and head coach.
I have to bring up the counter to this argument, that because all picks do not work, that is all the more reason to have as many as possible. For most teams, you have a better chance of getting a better players in the combined 2nd through 7th rounds than the 1st, we're a good example of that. Reshad Jones, Lamar Miller, Rishard Matthews, Jarvis Landry, Dion Sims, Derrick Shelby, Olivier Vernon, Koa Misi, Jelani Jenkins, Charles Clay, vs Jared Odrick, Mike Pouncey, Ryan Tannehill, Dion Jordan, Ju'uan James, in the same time frame. If you give up picks, you give up chances to draft good players, because every pick is a chance at a good player, and the better teams in the league build their teams in that way.
