I was a proponent for drafting Gurley last year because he can makes his own holes as well as being the best RB picked in recent years.

I am not sure Elliot is the same category but we still need a playmaking RB who can block and have enough power to make up for OL deficiencies.

Its a fairly deep draft for RBs and I think we draft a good one later too .I wouldnt be upset if we draft Elliot though .:pointlol:

I'll be really happy with him if we take him at #13. Not only do I think he's one of the best RBs to come out in recent years, but I also think that there's a huge gap between him and the next available RB in the draft. Elliot also won't even turn 21 until just before camp in July, whereas Booker, who I think is the #2 back, will turn 24 next month.

I'd be upset. Think he's good, but not great. Not a huge area of need as we can get vets cheap, or decent players later.

    Also I'm a ducks fan.

I'd be pumped if we took him at 13. Stud RBs can work wonders for QBs who are trying to make a leap. I'd also be really surprised if he's available at that pick.

I would be somewhat disappointed. He looks like he can be a very good back in the NFL, but for the #13 pick, I'd prefer an elite back - which he isn't.
If Hargreaves is still there (another very good, but not elite player) and we take Elliot, I'd be upset, but not a huge amount

I want defense, but I would be happy with Elliot. He's literally the only offensive player I'd want in the first round.

I have a strong sense of hate for Ohio... but I'd take him on this team in a heartbeat.

That being said, I'm not sure if RB is where I'd want to spend our first round pick with our needs at DE, LB, and CB... oh... and that pesky OL.

Waste of time he wont be there at 13.. Traded that pick on a hope and prayer for the defense.

At 13 your not assured of ANY sure fire stud.

He could fall, could be smokescreen for a trade back. He'd help our pass protection.

I like Derrick Henry better for our team because he's bigger and adds a different dimension than Ajayi.

Beyond those two, the backs get more flashy but more light in the pants and fumbly...

I've seen several different places compare Elliot to Le'venn Bell of the Steelers. Elliot is shorter, but they're about the same size. Bell is probably my ideal running back playing today in the league, and does everything the way that I would want a Dolphins back to do, so if Elliot can become that kind of player, I'm all in on him.

My preferred choices at #13 would be Hargreaves or Elliot - just like they were when we were picking at #8 - because they are both potentially very good players that would make a big impact on this team. Personally I don't think they will be available when we are on the clock, but if one of them is available I would be happy with us drafting one of them. If both are available when we are on the clock then I would probably lean towards Hargreaves, but either way we would be getting a good player.

We need a Class CB at 13. Our defense needs to be much improved to give the Offense a chance. Were not built for 30+ points a game.

I'm in absolutely no way opposed to a CB at 13. It would be a good move.

However, add Elliot to our offense with what will almost certainly be better coaching, and progression and better health from Parker and Stills, and there's reason to be hopeful for a big jump. We expected it last year before things went South.

Like many other I think we've put too many recent top picks on the Offense. I think he'd be a fine player for the 'phins but LB and CB are more urgent areas of need. If all the worthy CBs and LBs are gone beforehand than I'd be happy if we picked him, but I'll be furious if we pick him and pass over a top CB or LB

So New England had no run game in the playoff and champ game, no threat whatsoever, denvers pass rushers feasted.

Elliot might be the quickest way to improve the team and to combat the pass rush..combatting the pass has to be the highest priority of the team..

For me it will be tough to decide, I see a potentially great player in Leonard Floyd to finally fulfill a position where I don't think we've ever had an elite playmaker, strongside linebacker, a player who can drop on one play and come after the QB on the next, a player with excellent speed and athleticism to do all things that relate to the position.

Or, completely balance the offense and protect the qb with a skilled 3 tool running back

They should have this visit, especially for a smokescreen because Elliot is the guy teams may be willing to trade up to get. We could be in that perfect spot. Especially in this draft, I would like to trade back because it's a pretty deep draft for D players and that's what we need. If we did trade back with a team that wants Elliot, there will definitely be a solid edge payer or DB available. It would be a great move and a great step towards building a strong team with depth, etc.

I firmly believe that the earlier a team drafts, the greater importance there is of drafting a 'playmaker'. Elliott is the best offensive playmaker in the draft. Furthermore, this year's draft really does not have a lot of playmakers. Is running back a need? Yes. Is it our greatest need? Certainly not. But clearly this fills a need.

Question #2 - Is there anyone in the draft who will make a greater immediate impact on his new team? I highly doubt it. Elliott would make a great impact week 1. Think about how many times we had the ball 2nd and long (and all too frequently it was 2nd and really long). If we could put ourselves in a situation where it is 2nd and 6 or even 7, it would really open up the playbook. Remember, RT is at his best with intermediate routes. No matter what anyone thinks of RT, you seriously have to hope that he turns the corner next year. If he doesn't, things will be really, really bad next offseason.

Question #3 - Do you think that there is any chance that Elliott will be a bust? Now this certainly opens the door to comments like, "No, but there are better needs/players available" and "you can find running backs later." To which I would respond, with a big "Yup." But I sincerely want to ask you guys, "Do you think Mike Tannenbaum can find these players?" I really am doubtful. And for the people suggesting that we trade back and try and accumulate picks, I would love that idea if we were the Packers, Seahawks, Steelers, or Ravens, but the bottom line is I don't trust our front office. For all of you guys who are suggesting trading back, I implore you to type, "I think that Mike Tannenbaum is capable of finding great players later in the draft." I really think that simple exercise could lift the level of discussion on this board.

A lot of posters have mentioned that Elliott probably won't be there at 13. And if that is so, this whole conversation might be useless, but looking at every possible scenario is important as well. In my mind, it would not take me long to write his name on a card and walk up to the podium.

I've been liking Floyd more and more. I think that's who I want them to take. He can be a real playmaker for the D. He plays strong, fast and aggressive and that's something this team really needs. He has good instincts and can clean up good against the run. I'm in.

We've jived many a time on our pre-draft evaluations, etc.

I too would love for them to get VH3 and there may be a better chance now with all the recent moves that were made.

Zeke makes this offense an instant threat. I'm not a Buckeye homer by any means, when it comes to transitioning to the Dolphins.

Zeke makes everyone on the offense better. Only thing that kind of concerns me is his upright running style vs elite hard hitting defenders.

He is a monster...his vision and anticipation is amazing.

Lots of people who are paid to do this for a living have him falling to us in mock drafts. Its even more likely with the recent trades, and the likelyhood of QBs going high. I'm in no way saying that its a lock, but I think its very plausible.

It's high but the guy is ridiculously talented and is probably the favorite to win ROY because how fast running backs can produce and if you put him behind the Dallas offensive line, we're talking 1500 yards rushing first season.

I hate all this talk about taking him at 13, because he won't be there, lol, people start in with this talk and then I get to thinking how great it would be to have him, and then I have to remind myself he will not be there at 13.

At first I didn't bother looking at his tape because I just thought there was no way we were going RB in the 1st, then I read somewhere, someone comparing him to L. Bell, so I kind of rolled my eyes and said, yeah, let me see that, and to my surprise, I saw what the man had been saying, EE can do it all, and do it all well, and is great at following his blocks and an instant decision maker on the run, like LB, EE seems to see the entire field and is very decisive.

If we were lucky enough to have him fall to us at 13, I would hope we take him, he has the tools, mentally and physically, to be one of the best RBs in the league, with a very high floor and ceiling imo.
