Solid move, no need to create more holes unnecessarily. Glad the new GM understands this team has talent and wants to keep it in house. Same reason we tagged OV and won't give him up without a calculated fight, smart moves. Good thing Grier isn't new to the organization, he knows what we have and is off to an excellent start.
I have no problem with this, he's dependable and versatile when he isn't injured, it also allows the Fins some leeway acquiring LBs
Solid move? We need a solid LB...It's bad when you know he isn't good but he keeps on sticking because the FO can't replace him. Crowder MIGHT have been better!
If he didn't have any years added onto his deal, then that would have to mean that they cut his salary, right? His agent certainly hasn't run to the press with the details.
The last time we tried to fill two LB spots we paid big money to Ellerbe and Wheeler. Gase has a three year window to prove something so I don't blame him if he's more interested in starting off by making sure we don't move backwards. Misi is a solid enough player to hold firm at the LB position. Allocation of resources says we can't have beasts at every position. The Panthers have Davis and Kuechly, not many people can name that third guy.
I am confused at what is going on here. The cap is 155.27 this year and we are now at 169.8? We are not going down we are going up. Tannenblow needs to get his head out of his *** This can only mean one thing - either Wake or OV are gone. Or maybe both.
We don't need to be under until the league year starts on Monday, and they've done almost nothing to free up space while tagging Vernon. Moves will be made. I'm going to guess that with Miller set to go unless they get him done, that they're doing their best to get his new deal done first, and then move on from there. Still, why some of the obvious cuts haven't been made yet is weird. Either way, the team can clear a LOT of cap room with just a handful of moves, and at least some of them have to be coming.
but those moves are tough. We are 15 m over. NO OV NO Wake NO Miller No Mathews where does this money come from to sign these guys I get the fact they need to be under, that's the easy part, rescind the OV Tag and restructure Misi (provided his cap hit is zero, which it wont or cant be) puts us under by about 1m Then what? we have no gosh dang money. I hate Tannenblow.......................we will never win with this shmuck running the show
I just don't get it. Misi is always injured and he can't cover the pass. He is okay against the run on occasion, but overall he is a below average LB. He must have pictures of Ross in a compromising situation or something. Because he keeps getting new contracts, while much better players are allowed to leave via free agency. Miami had one of the worst LB units in the NFL the past few years and Misi was responsible for much of that bad LB play.
The goal I think would be to lower his salary keep him for depth, quality backup and start to rebuild the unit..if he has to start one more year at MIKE so be it.
I think that Vernon moves on, cutting Grimes and Greg Jennings gets us close to the cap number, I think that Grimes would be a $3.5 mil cap hit. Good riddance.
That's just a sign of how bad the LB corps has been overall for some time now. Misi is what he is, but he's been better than most of the rest when he's been healthy. We desperately need improvement, but have been really bad at making that happen.
