We will find out this year if he is a true franchise QB. It's not fair to say he isn't though with the talent he possesses and the situation and coaching he was straddled with from the beginning. How many hits/sacks has this dude taken and still gotten back up? A team like the Eagles would kill for Tannehill. There's a lot worse QB situations out there than ours and that's why we landed Gase. Someone HIGHLY respected in NFL circles.
Never said he was the worse QB. He is average. Middle of the pack. Non debatable at this current point in time. And we overpay him, so it (his situation) looks really bad right now.
Looking forward to Gase, that's all I'm saying. He could really bring out the best in Tannehill, and unlike many on this site I'm rooting for and expecting that.
Also we aren't upgrading starting QB this offseason, so all the biitching about him is futile and weak.
No but im sure Gase does have a contingency plan in place for when Tannehill is underperforming yet again.
The Packers have ARod and still drafted a QB in the fifth. Ask Dallas if if ignoring the backup QB position is wise, it isn't. But to think it looks really bad that we overpaid him, well my friend, I don't think you understand the current NFL QB market. Can't wait till Tannehill plays Wilson next year, looking forward to seeing if he can "carry his jockstrap"...or beat him again lol.
Lol why you braggin? Wilson has made it to the playoffs 3 times, SB twice, Champion Once and your braggin over 1 win.... Phins fans crack me up. Tannehill has literally accomplished nothing of significance.
Philbin, Seattle's D, Pete Carrol. Didn't anyone learn from Denver, THIS IS A TEAM SPORT. If it wasn't people like Fin-O would be smart in thinking Cam will cure all ails of the Panthers. He didn't. And Fin-O knows jack shiit about football. Maybe basketball who knows, but not this sport.
I bet it really sticks in your craw that we all can't see you holding your breath, stomping out of the room and slamming doors, lol.
Naw bro, you helping me pass time at work. I work for the U.S government, how much you getting paid right now? I'm surprised I'm not banned yet lol, mods b sleepin.
Im just gonna humor you till you catch that ban again. It is a team sport. Our team sucks. Tannehill isnt the problem nor is he the solution. He is part of this sucky team. He has sucky moments like everyone else. Tannehill is not a guy you build an offense around. Tannehill is a guy you would like to have when you have a great running game. He is not a guy who can carry a team.
Thanks bro, I have my beefs with Tannehill too. but I think Gase would disagree with you on his potential, and that's all that really matters at the end of the day. Shiit I gotta clock out, peace ninjas!
I dont think any of us know what Gase and the FO is really thinking but I believe they will bring in someone different at backup they feel comfortable with whether it be through the draft or FA, im not sure. I could be wrong but this is what I believe.
which is exactly why I think it'd be wise to ascertain his trade value....they offer a 1st and they can have him.
The whole team needs to get better, especially Tannehill. We all agree on that. No need to be a douche canoe to make your point. This site is awesome, by the way.
The whole team does need to improve, but not "especially" Tannehill if you're implying that he's the #1 thing wrong with this team. No idea how anyone watched this season, the playoffs, and in particular the SB and doesn't consider our Defense, OL, and play calling/coaching more pressing issues with this team. Agree on your other points though.
To play devil's advocate...fixing the defense takes resources, money and picks...trading away Tannehill for a high pick and rolling with a cheap rookie next year like Wentz or Lynch would free up a ton of money and allow us to bolster the defense (and OL) even more.
No. He hasn't. His TEAM has. Why is that so hard to comprehend for some? He did NOTHING by himself to earn individual merit as if he "carried" his team. He may be a stellar player, no doubt, but the dude had SERIOUS HELP from that roster. It's not even debatable. Did you see how Denvers rank 1 Defense just did in the superbowl? Like... you know, how they pretty much just won it singlehandedly? How was the Seahawks Defense ranked when they were in their Superbowls, again??? Oh right..... Tops in the league..... Like Denver.
Not happening this season. The FO is all in on Tannehill and Gase came here to work with him. He's going nowhere. Also, his real contract hit doesn't affect us until next year. And Wentz hasn't even thrown the ball in college as much as Tannehill did. He's going to be a project for some team, but not us.
He is not bad. He's just not great. Look, even Brees and Big Ben aren't good enough to get their teams into the playoffs every year like Brady, Rodgers and Manning (before this year). Or Romo. Even those guys need fairly complete teams around them make the playoffs. We can all admit Tanny isn't as good as those guys. We want him to be. Because if he's not, the team has to be even stronger than those teams have to be just to make the playoffs. Ryan Tannehill isn't a guy you say, "we have a shot every year just because we have him." Big Ben and Brees are guys you can say that, even if they don't make the playoffs. That's what I want my QB to be. A guy you start every year, thinking, we have a shot no matter what, because Tanny. That doesn't make Tanny a bad QB. So far the arguments are, he needs a medium oline and good defense. Lots of QBs make the playoffs with that. The problem is, you won't have that all the time.
So you bring up 3 hall of fame QBs and complain that Tannehill isn't one of them??? Wow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Russell Wilson still better then Tanne by a large margin. Even after all that hoopla you just said, it dont change that fact.
How can you state these things as fact when he hasn't had even a serviceable o-line for 1 full season in his career? Like, not even close to average.... While being the most sacked qb in the nfl for his entire career thus far. That's my biggest issue. We don't know what we have, and for all we know we may never even find out what he's capable of.
Exactly. With Tannehill, we can never say "we have a shot" every year pending how good the rest of the team is. We can say though, "at least we will be mediocre" every year.
So you agree i'm right? That's good. Thanks. RW can be as great as he wants, he still had a supreme roster to play with. Tannehill had pretty much the complete opposite of that. When your team and coaching staff is as garbage collectively as his was, you can expect average results from the QB (or even less). So technically he has outperformed what he should have done, looking back at it.
You apparently just don't have a fundamental understanding of football. There is more than 1 guy on every team. This isn't a 1v1 league. Denver Just won the superbowl with borderline zero assistance from their hall of fame quarterback, But in your mind "PEYTON WON THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!"
*Sigh* Our QB is average, fact. Youll find your scapegoat when Tannehill is average after next season, I been sayong this for 3 offseasons now and for 3 offseasons its the same cast of people that come out with the excuses and scapegoats for Tannehills average play. Ill say it again, excuses are like ***holes, everyone has em, only the weak use em.
You do realize that his OL has graded out worst than the Dolphins and the WR's they have had aren't even as good as what Miami has had and thats saying a lot. Do yourselves a favor and concede Russel Wilson is a much better football player and move on....not being as good as Wilson doesn't make you a bad QB by any means.
