Talk (Aikman) today of either RGIII or J.Football going to Dallas... I think they pick a QB with their 1st pick even if they do that. If those QBs get snatched up quick... maybe Ramsey, the OL and Jack could be there. Yummy.
IMO he shouldn't make it to 8 based on pure talent. I think he's the best LB to come out since Kuechly. A potentially game changing defender at the next level. However, Kuechly went at 9. LBs sometimes drop. In Kuechly's case I think the QBs pushed him down. I love hearing all this Wentz talk. I don't rate Wentz that highly but it's not difficult to imagine a team falling in love with him. There's also that knee injury. I want one report that questions the stability or long term prognosis on Jack. I don't see LB as the top need for most of the teams above us. Obviously every team can use a game changer, but most teams draft need first. Some will deviate from that for a can't-miss prospect (not all). But I'm not sure Jack is that. I see him as a game changer, but aside from the injury question there's also a size issue. Jack is 6-1 225, smaller than Kuechly was at 6-3 235. That won't fit some team's size parameters. 3-4 teams in general may shy away. The more questions that exist the greater the likelihood he's available at our pick.
Jack played it safe at gave a meniscus tear plenty of time to heal, it wasn't an ACL, he should be fine.
I wouldn't compare him to Kuechly. If you know what you know now, and went back a couple years, would you think Lavonte David would be worth it in the first round?
I'm not worried about the knee at all. But the fact that the injury occurred will always scare some off.
But we don't know that about Jack and we're talking about where he'll go in this draft not in some future "if you knew what you know now" hypothetical. Knowing what we know now, Jack is the best LB prospect since Kuechly, who went 9th. They both seemed incredibly instinctive against the run and were standouts in coverage. I expect that like Kuechly, Jack will test very well at the combine. Although Jack may not equal Kuechly's monster showing. IIRC Kuechly weighed in at over 240, ran a 4.41and benched 225 27 times. But Jack is smaller than Kuechly and is coming off of an injury. So if the question is whether or not Jack will be available at 8? (That was the question I was responding to) Historical precedent seems to suggest that he possibly will be.
I was more referencing Lavonte David with regard to size, so that was my misunderstanding. You are talking about where they will go in the draft, all of your points on that subject matter are fair and I can't find anything you said that I vehemently disagree with.
Jack avoided any risk at gave a meniscus tear a lot of time to recuperate, it wasn't an ACL, he ought to be fine.
