If that is a consideration, then the door should be open now. Saying you'll wait to take a player at position X when position X becomes a hole will put you at a disadvantage relative to the market. The only way it becomes a waste of resources is if the pick itself is a bust, and the odds of that are just as likely as any other position. If you end up with two quality QBs, the market is there to move one.

Well, you can turn that around too. When you have multiple holes already you can't take a position that IS NOT a hole already.

    Right?

I think you should poll the teams fans and see if any of the above mentioned would trade their QB for Tannehill. There might be 2-3 teams that would say yes. It appears that you are also looking at backups, as of now I do believe we only have the logan guy, whoever he is.

What? You don't think the Browns, Bears, Eagles, Jets, Vikings, Saints, Chargers, Cowboys, Steelers, TEXANS would want RT.

That whole post was a waste of time. 2 or 3... oh my.

Was Matt Moore released? I've seen nothing on it, but he is no longer listed on the CAP page for the team - http://overthecap.com/salary-cap/miami-dolphins/

That would leave us with Tannehill, Dysert, and Logan Thomas if so and free up $2.6M in salary.

I wonder if he is calling it quits... given we just signed that other QB (Zac).
Maybe just bringing in some RT competition... haha.

Because during the interview he requested film of the Broncos game from last year (when Gase was the Denver OC), the Eagles game and one other game this year. At least 2 of the 3 were well played by Tannehill. He also talked about it briefly in one of the interviews after the hiring with Dan Lebatard and Stugotz. Gase is a legitimate QB guru who helped Peyton Manning (Clyde Christensen came aboard because of the connection to Manning), helped Jay Cutler cut his interceptions in half despite having all 3 of his top WR hurt for significant chunks of the season, and won a playoff game with Tebow while helping to redesign the offense to the players strengths. Put another way....If Gase cant help Tannehill improve, every Tannehill supported has virtually no choice but to admit defeat....but if he does improve, haters are probably going to be eating their words because Tannehill may have a monster year.

You may be right that he could move on from Ryan after one year but it will be the first time in Ryans career he has a legitimate QB guru. Philbo the Clown never coached QB's and Mike Shermanator didnt even like Tannehill at the college level. What you are saying isnt impossible by any stretch or unfathomable but in order to get this job it was clear Gase had to hitch his wagon to Tannehill for at least 1 year. Personally, I dont think we have seen the best of Tannehill yet. IMO, he can be better then he was in 2013 when he was pretty darn good.

Just to clarify, I don't dislike Tannehill. I've actually supported him as QB and will continue to do so for now. I'm just saying I won't fall over if the Dolphins go for another QB if that QB rates as a good value pick at the spot picked. So if they do grab a 1st round pick then he better have great prospects, and as you've said, it seems as though this year is underwhelming.

You shouldn't fill holes in the coming season at the expense of future seasons. The cap space makes it a zero-sum game.

So... you draft a filled position and do not address the gaping one you already have??? IMO that will not work either.

Well, if Mando says it... we better do it.

We should have just hired him and Omar as co-GM's.

Some of you might actually enjoy that.

Or you miss out on a huge game changing linebacker or Safety or even another defensive tackle for a position that isn't even going to be on the field.

3 year 26 mil, 10 mil guaranteed, not a monster contract, but nealy 9 mil per so it's a substantial offer in 2012.

So you agree in principle with the Miami Dolphins drafting a QB, you just don't think that there is one worthy of drafting. Thats fair.

Yes. If Miami could get a significant upgrade, I agree. I just do not see any who are for sure a significant upgrade. Especially in their first two seasons.

Even if you had the first pick in the draft for the next 5 years what would the probability of drafting "A huge game changing QB " be? Andrew Luck was probably the highest rated QB coming out in the past decade and yet 4 years later the jury is still out on him as well.

Browns, doubtful, they have the pick of the best QB in the draft. Bears, no they have Cutler coming off his "best" season ever. Eagles , over Bradford? doubt it. Jets possibly, but he has not looked good against them, the fans would likely revolt. Vikings, no way no how. Saints, no way no how. Chargers, no way no how. Cowboys, room healthy, no way no how. Steelers, no way, they would laugh at the thought. Texans...... maybe.
