This offense is hurting my eyes. Goran, please come back... On the GSW-SAS thing, I'm just not sure how the Spurs can play their best lineups against the Dubs. You can say that about anyone, of course, but the Spurs style is just so different from GS. They don't have a Bosh-level defensive big who can pursue outside. Like we saw last night, Draymond will punish the sh-t out of bad matchups; the Curry/Green PnR can create laughably good looks (*cough* Kevin Love). It's going to be fascinating to watch. That said, everyone's getting pumped about their matchup next week...but I highly doubt we see Pop and Kerr/Walton show too much of their hand. Playoff hoops is a whole different thing.
For some of you stat geeks and bettors....if you want the best barometer for how the knicks will perform it's Aaron Afflalo. +1 or better = 16-2 -0/-1 or worse = 1-16 Over 30% on 3 = 14-3 Under 30% on 3 = 3-14 You're welcome.
Kareem was not as good as Draymond is now at the time the Lakers dynasty got going. Klay, Barnes, and the collection of role players they have, more than make up for Worthy and the rest. Ask yourself this. That High P&R the Dubs use with Steph and Dray? Spurs guard that with Parker and LA for most of the game. How many points do they give up per game to that? When they get wide...it's over right there.
Heat is 5-6 in January. gotta go 3-3 rest of the way to make my mark...can they do it? They better get Dragic back SOON. Going without Dragic AND Udrich was a disaster tonight.
Agree, although if Draymond Green keeps stepping up a dynasty is certainly possible imo. I can see Klay hitting some wall at some point aswell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One thing with the GSW will be seeing how they hold up in terms of durability. I've not checked the stats but it feels like Curry gets high usage, can they sustain this and avoid injury for the rest of the season?
Also, if anyone's interested, I'm graphically tracking this season performances, looking at simple win rate for each team as the season progresses. 95-96 Bulls's season is in for comparison as our the two worst ever seasons. If someone has a suggestion for another interesting comparison, let me know. So it's basically the half-way point for the season (feels a lot longer!). Here are the standings: And the last 10: After what seemed to be the rise of a competitive Eastern Conference the West is slowly starting to look more and more dominant. Top 8 West vs Top 8 East sees the West ahead of the east for positions 1-6, and then the East takes over from 7 down. Meanwhile the ridiculous Warriors are a full 10 games ahead of the best team in the East - the Cavs - who just got demolished, totally and absolutely demolished, in embarrassing fashion, by the Warriors. Can the Dubs keep it up for another whole half a season, though? At the half way point, does anyone have any predictions? Who is currently in a top 8 spot who won't be there in March, and who will rise to grab a playoff berth? Or are we set already? Will anyone other than the Cavs win the Eastern Conf. championships? Who will be playing in the Western finals? Thoughts?
Check out the 96 Bulls' win progression. Two long stretches at the start then shorter but extremely regular stretches to close out the season. It almost looks like they scheduled their losses. Sustained performance. The Warriors started out better but just recently dipped. Will they end up with a more eratic performance than Jordan's Bulls in 96? Projecting forward from the traces for the Warriors and Spurs it's going to take almost perfection from here on out to beat that 72 win record - although the great start from the Dubs makes it an easier path for them from here.
The opposite. When a guy that is notoriously putting others in difficult positions, and puts his teammates in a position to cover up for him constantly while making their work more difficult on the offensive end...it can grade on you after a while when he goes into a postgame interview as if he won a game by himself. The preening/lobbying is especially difficult to dismiss on this team that preaches selflessness, and sacrifice. Meanwhile, he's lobbying for counting stats, while a guard picks up his man at half court.
Whiteside is a liability in a 7 game series. You give a team enough time and they will exploit his game. I hope he fakes it enough to maintain some trade value. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
All you have to do is double him. What Spo has to do is make Whiteside exclusively a P&R player. Now, he sets ****ty screens, ...bench him.
I see no functional difference between making sure the scorer's table records your block and complaining to referees while in transition.
We're only a 1 1/2 games up on the 9th place team. We may not have any 7 game series to worry about. This is not a good team right now in its injured state and we were trending down before that anyway.
You can complain to the refs when it can lead to you getting a call down the line...especially when you play PERFECT team defense. You don't when you never get a call and actually get the refs to watch you closer, while blowing assignments all over the place.
BTW, Forbes:...Miami Heat is 10th most valuable franchise at $1.1 Billion. Miami Dolphins are valued at $1.3 Billion. The two teams have never been closer.
Is what it is Boik. Kareem was on the back end of his career when Magic got going. Dray just got started on his own HOF career.
Draymond Green is currently having a season that is better than ANY of Kareem's last EIGHT seasons. Kareem's last 8 seasons were with Magic. If you think Draymond is an ascending player..then it stands to reason that this Warriors run can/will be better than the Lakers run. The flip side to that is that is James Worthy..but Klay, Barnes, and the aggregate of the Dubs roster makes up for him and the rest.
Whats funny is that Ross once said he felt stupid because he thought he overpaid when he bought the Dolphins. I guess when you dish out 1.3 billion to get 7-9 seasons consistently, that would definitely look like you overpaid.
There is a good chance if we dont trade him by the deadline we might just let him walk for nothing in the offseason for a chance at Durant... Sooo ill take Gallo.. He fits well with us, provides spacing, shooting, and underrated passing ability.. Mike Malone has dealt with characters like whiteside in Cousins..
I still love Whiteside. Definitely has his faults but he is just fun to watch in my opinion. Hope we keep him.
Scorer's table doesn't impact the outcome of games. Complaining to referees has intrinsic value. A lot of players/coaches will complain to work refs into giving them more favorable calls. At the least, there is some reason to argue with refs that could potentially help the team.
Right, if your goal is to grab the 8th seed, then HW is the type of player you want. If your goal is to make playoff runs and compete for rings, then HW is not the type of player you want. Personally, I think you need to salvage whatever value HW has in the vein of getting closer to a title.
Both are acts of taking yourself out of the transition into defense for the purpose of addressing a third party.

I don't agree with this statement and I don't get the Whiteside hate from the same people who loved him 6 months ago First, Whiteside can absolutely be a starter on a championship type team. He's not going to be your first option but he brings things to the table that can't be taught The stuff he is less proficient at (covering the P&R, etc.) can all be taught. He's already getting better as he's gotten more opportunities Second, if he's such a bum and only good for a team going for the 8th seed why would anyone trade for him? It's time for the Heat to accept reality. This isn't a championship caliber team and this core never will be. And the really sad truth is that Dwyane Wade cannot be the lead player on a championship team anymore For all the talk about Whiteside, some of it certainly justified, Wade's on/off numbers aren't great either. The Heats been better on both ends with him out We may not want to pay Whiteside the max, but we can't pay Wade $20 million either
I don't think he can start. Defenses will dictate him becoming a passer. Miami won't win if that is the case. Because some teams aren't realistically expecting to contend for titles. I don't necessarily disagree with any of this. Getting rid of HW puts Miami in better position to build a championship caliber team. Wade needs to take less money, and hopefully he will like he has in the past.
Take the best 10 qualifying lineups for the Heat and see WHO are the two most common names on there. Then take their top 10 four man lineups, and 3 man lineups. See if there is a common theme. On/Off without context is worthless. Lineup Data provides that context.
There are gambling sites saying Miami is a great play tonight at +4.5. I don't get it. I'm not touching them. Who knows what they are doing tonight?
Ya i went opposite on that.. Soon as i got the alert from myESPN app that D Wade is out, i betted on Wizards ML with the juice.
Im now starting to wonder if we will come up short again from the playoffs.. This is getting ridiculous.
So, uh... .... ...yeagh. Who knows how long Whiteside will be out. I guess it's an oblique thing. What exactly is the deal with Wade's shoulders? TJ clearly isn't healthy either. Man oh man.
