Armando: "I am a grown man who has covered sports since 1983 and covered the Dolphins and the NFL since 1990..." "have been around greatness... and I have been around, well, the exact opposite of greatness..." "I have seen the Dolphins abound." "I've made a professional decision to not drink the Kool-Aid anymore." "I am declining to believe Adam Gase is an offensive mastermind simply because people say so. He will have to prove it to me." "New general manager Chris Grier said at his introductory press conference the days of Dolphins dysfunction are over. Great. Prove it. Show me." "Not trusting their slogans." "Not trusting the OTAs and minicamps." Congratulations Armando for finally taking the red pill. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2016/01/dear-miami-dolphins-show-me-prove-it-do-it-and-then-ill-believe.html
wait....is Armando trying to pretend he believed in the Dolphins until now? lol. That's a good one Armando. Anyone who reads his link just fell for clickbait. He's pandering.
Thats is great but I doubt he is a Dolphin fan anyway.A lot of fans are feeling the same way except for us lifers who are not going to change teams just because its dysfunctional. Hope is the fuel that drives us and I am still hopeful and drinking the coolaid again. It tastes quite good as a matter of fact. When it begins to taste like vinegar I will spit it out and start all over again knowing that one day we will be in the SB again.
Armando hates the Dolphins, and has at least since the days of high-five. I'm not clicking his self-congratulatory articles to be told how awesome he is for being right.
I don't think he's suggesting anyone to change teams. Me? I'll NEVER change my team, but I'm going to continue to wait out this ownership. Plus, Armando doesn't have to be a Dolfan. This article was needed.
Pandering or not this is how I feel and I am sure many others on the site do also.I fell hard for this team in preseason only to be dissapointed in sept as usual. I don't care about how good the free agent signings, draft, and training camp appears anymore.Show me on the damm field for once because I am not falling for it again.
I stopped putting any stock in all that stuff a long time ago. A trend is a trend until it's finally broken and all the stuff that has transpired before the regular season over the last decade hasn't meant a thing.
I hear ya.What got me is exactly what he said about the scrimmages with the panthers.I remember when rivera went to philbin and asked him to dial down his defence because he was afraid newton was going to get killed.I am thinking we might have the best defensive line in football.Boy was I wrong.Never again!
No one is arguing that. Feel what you feel. its just ridiculous that a known Jets' fan/reporter with a spotty track record for the truth and objectivity, writes an article as a fan.
At this point, it's gonna take more than one good season to restore any faith. We had a good year when Pennington fell into our laps but nothing after that.
Not to stir up a controversial subject but if this was valid - is it still valid? Because I only came to reading Dolphins beat writers in the last few years and didn't get any of the older history. Of the various authors I find Salguero and Abramson to be the best of the bunch. I'm not always a fan of his style but I've read a lot of what he has written and not once have I ever detected anything suggesting that he's a Jets fan, nor would I have said he's not a Dolphins fan. That just my honest assessment. So if anything, maybe this is something from the past and not actually present in his writing now, because I just don't see it.
This is just the beginning of another offseason of "talk". I'm far from negative, but it's the same thing every offseason. As this one begins and eventually starts to move, we will hear all sorts of rumblings from a highly motivated Bobby McCain to a noticeably stronger Jordan Phillips to a focused Tannehill who has complete mental control over the offense. Such n such rookie will be making a name for himself while Dion Jordan will be more motivated than ever. The hope will follow, imaginations will run wild, "what might be" will start to come in to focus and I personally will be standing in the Kool Aide line yet again awaiting a glass of aqua rage. It'll happen no doubt, but that is why I love this sport. I'll continue to believe in this team no matter what...I am a lifer through and through unless we do something horrible like move to LA. Bottom line is we all expect improvement this offseason. So pray for a Zach Thomas 2.0, beg for the O line to be solidified, hope that signing that veteran guard will bring stability, wish for Tannehill to bounce back, and avoid injuries by using your telekinetic fan power.
Don't understand the premise of what Armando is saying. Is he a Dolphins fan? Why does he desire to believe in the team?
It's all a clean slate as far as I'm concerned, they will get the same enthusiasm out of me as ever, why?, because it's illogical to prejudge new talent based on old talent.Gase is his own man, so is Joseph, these are tannenbaum guys and he is new..clean slate, let's do this..only going to support until I see weakness
Every season starts anew......thats how I see it, thats how Ive always seen it for 30 some odd years now. Been through the good times....and the bad times and always approached a new season with fresh optimism. If people want to stew in their juices and follow Armando's lead, thats how they chose to support the team and more power to them.
Some stew in their juices. Some cream in their pants over routine offseason puffery. Neither makes one a better fan than the next.
You must understand if someone says anything negative they are horrible, and bad, and a jets fan. I for one didn't see anything wrong with the article the wrote.
To understand the Armando hate, you'd have to go waaaaaaay back, over a decade ago when a lot of the folks you see with NOV 2007 Join Dates on their account used to go to another board. A poster on that board, (was it dolfanmike?) had an email exchange with Armando about the now ancient "high five" incident. Armando, at the point where the Dolphins were not going to make the playoffs, high fived another guy (Jason Cole, used to be a Dolphins beat writer) in the press box. The reports of that made it out, the user had a back and forth, Armando came up with a million reasons why things were misinterpreted and he would never cheer the Dolphins losing and so on, got called on it, and generally embarrassed himself. I don't think the thread exists anymore, sadly, but it was legendary at the time. Another time Armando stepped in it with this site in particular was when a flunky for the Herald lifted Universal Drafts (old draft site with CK, Boomer, and Con) player list. Simon and CK both said something to Armando, Armando brushed them off, things escalated, bad words were spoken (things are better now) and the list was removed. So yeah, Armando isn't the most beloved of people around folks who have followed the Dolphins for a long time. It has nothing to do with this article in particular, outside of this article in particular being more of the same old self-serving garbage Armando has always heaped upon readers of the Herald.
I guess when CNN (the most ridiculous of all "just take my word for it" mainstream media sites) stereotypes your owner as the poster child for corporate double speak, you can afford to voice an article of dissension. Hell, I post an article of dissension here and there's a 50% chance it gets deleted entirely and sent to the gulag archipelago...Get real.
