Pretty sure he had another reply where he implied that he's looking to leave sooner rather than later.
Why not start a Petition at change.org...may be just may be the editors at sun sentinel send him packing when 10000 Dolfans sign the Petition.
That might actually work against us. Omar gets clicks and that's what matters to them. It doesn't matter whether they're clicks because people like him or clicks because people hate him.
This thread tells you why he's still got a job, 3 pages of Omar hate, people love to hate Omar. I'm indifferent to him or any other beat writer, there job is to get hits, however they do it, by sucking up or lashing out.
If he does leave everyone is going to rejoice, but seeing how the Stephen A Smiths and Skip Bayless' are popular for the wrong reasons, don't be surprised if it's for a national gig.
Is it possible due to our love for the team people dont want to hear the truth? Anyways we need balance and not always Homer writing that everything thats done is for the betterment of the team Critisism will always be around especially when a team does some of the things this team has done. Sometimes the pill is hard to swallow
Like everything that was said, if you read anything... Every beat writer is critical.... Armando hates the phins too.... But he's not a jackass throwing darts. It explains a ton that you seemingly don't know the difference.
Omar Kelly was never insightful enough to be the guy who was going to give you the hard, unflattering truth. He's spent his entire career vacillating between being a straight beat writer, an "insider", the devil's advocate, or an outright troll- and he's really succeeded at none of those things. He doesn't really have a niche, and I don't think he really even succeeds that much at being hated. I wouldn't be surprised if he's going to try and move markets to get the career advancement that so many of his peers have gotten here.
Omar Kellys job is to generate page views and engagement. He does both of those much better than anyone else covering the Dolphins. His problem in relation to getting a national job is two fold: - He has no real inside sources. This basically got Darlington his national job. Omar Kelly is not bringing anything like that to his new employer. - He can be very aggressive, and that can be threatening when it isn't paired with eloquence or a sense of humor. Stephen A Smith can be aggressive, but he is much more crafty as a linguist. He also has a deprecating sense of humor which takes the edge off. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
My local paper is the Atlanta Journal. I read the last article and saw a decently written article that really didn't say anything that wasn't true to my knowledge. Hate the guy if you want - it is obvious, but when you let your hate cloud reality because you or anyone else doesn't want to hear what he is saying that is on the reader. Most of what these guys write I take with a grain of salt anyway. It's his opinion. Don't like it don't read it. It seems as if most here are complaining about him but most are probably one of the first ones to read what he has to say. I got no problem with his opinion, because after all it is his opinion and I can choose to agree with him or not. If he is correct in slamming the franchise in some of his articles for various different things, maybe we need more of it ---- because we are a mess as a team and yes Gace has his work cut out for him. IMO he is correct when he says that the team is a mess and it will take Gace years to fix it ---sad truth is it will
Omar is not fit for a national gig.. You could see it coming for Darlington a mile away.. Im shocked it never happened for Barry Jackson.. But Armando and Omar are definitely local writers though im not sure theyre fit to report in a city like miami though, perhaps theyre more fit to cover Sarasota high school sports
I despise him because he obstinately refuses to have a separate football Twitter feed. I'd go to Phins.com and I'd be reading what his kids ate at McDonald's...It gave me PTTFS-post traumatic Twitter feed syndrome. I still cringe a little if I catch his name in my periphery while I'm on their news site.
It's not like there is a Head Coach convenience store we can walk into and stroll down the aisle and pick any guy we want. "Ooh, they have Hue Jackson in stock. Says here he comes with experience!" They loved Gase. What if they decided to look harder into Jackson and push the envelope only to lose BOTH of them? We're not the only team looking for a head coach, and we're not the only team interested in both guys. They got the guy they feel is best for the job based on endless research.
yeah but any Sentinel beat writer dedicated to covering the Dolphins will get clicks, no? Who knows, perhaps they get even more clicks. Perhaps they get all the ones they're currently getting PLUS the ones they're currently not getting from all the fans who can't stand that turdbag.
LOL...I brought that up to him today when he was going on about how great of an evaluator he was. It was the tweet where he said he told everyone how bad Chad Henne was and how good Sean Smith was. @OmarKelly Legedu Nanee? How'd he end up doing? I remember you LOVED him that one training camp. No response...just blocked me immediately.
Do you want to hire the best coach or settle? Apparently you are OK with settling. I would have interviewed both people. Unless of course you want a coach you can control (doesn't want player control)
Lol at "settling". And what if you let Gase leave so you can interview other people and he gets a call that another team is willing to throw a check book at him? Then Jackson decides he rather be in San Francisco and you lose him too. What do you do then? They had the guy in their building that they wanted and kept him. That's usually how it works.
I think we all know these same people blasting the Gase pick (based on nothing more than the lack of experience argument), would blast the team had we not signed him and lost on other candidates. They would call the FO wishy washy & spineless for not going for the guy they wanted and settling.
What's even more hilarious is I actually liked Jackson a little more than Gase. But the guys who did all the research and handled the interview fell in love with what Gase brings to the table, and that's more than good enough for me. I'm not in the room.
Is it only settling (with a negative connotation) because they didn't interview Jackson? Would it still be settling if they interviewed Jackson and hired Gase?
I was in favor of Shanahan and I've stated my reasons but you havent heard me *****ing for exactly the same reasons you gave. I am self aware enough to realize that I don't know everything. The ultra negative, know it all types on this board are just flat out full of ****. That's all there is to it.
I mean, its obvious who my top choice was. But Gase was in my Top 3. Experience as a HC is not important. The numbers prove it. What is important, is that a coach display the ability to exceed expectations with the talent level he's been given and to do it by adapting to that talents' strengths. Gase has a history of doing that in every capacity he's coached in. If that's what you hire then you'll have the best chance to win. Will Gase pan out? Dunno. I will say this, I don't get any particular comfort from our FO in this hire, but I do get it from the fact he's infinitely more qualified (based on the above criteria) than any coach we've hired since Saban.
Those "guys" as in Stephen Ross and Mike Tannenbaum? So suddenly their decision making is above reproach? Crazy, with that kind of trust you'd think we've been perennial AFC contenders every year. Let's call it what it is - homerism. That's fine, you're allowed to be one. But let's not slap lipstick on a pig and pretend it's anything but.
Right, so the alternative is to just expect every hire, every signing, every decision to be bad, right? Unless it's the choice you would make, of course. I never even said Gase would work out, so not sure how that makes me a homer. All I said was they got the guy they wanted.
The problem is the who's doing the picking. Hell there's even been a report that Tbaum's job may potentially have been in jeopardy had he not landed Gase. So that leaves Ross at the top of all of this. What have we learned about him to this point? Is there not enough information out there to assume he doesn't excel at installing the right football people in that building? I mean I can understand wanting to give the benefit of the doubt, but a pattern has been established here. If it's not homerism, then it's hope. But it still amazes me that anyone has the gull to be mad at another Dolphin fan who's not automatically buying in given what has transpired.
so you are saying they were afraid to risk getting the same type guy with more experience......got it...........good hire!
I mean, none of us know how it'll play out. That's really my point. I understand Tannenbaum and Ross have to prove it, but what else am I supposed to do? Just say "well, this will be a disaster since they picked him."? It's not like Gase wasn't on anyone else's radar. A lot of teams were interested. That's already better than Philbin.
What? Did you even read what I said? I said we could have lost BOTH of them if we took our foot off the gas.
In a report I read and it has been said by Gace this has been an exhaustive and thorough search since October. October? They just started interviewing people 2 weeks ago. really? Interviewed 6 or 7 and decided on Gace without interviewing coaches such as Coughlin, Jackson and Shanahan. Of the 6 or 7 the only one qualified IMO was Doug Marrone, who by the way is a good coach. How is this a exhaustive search? Or is this the Rembrandt being painted?
I agree. There are obviously some people who will just assume that anything that the Dolphins do is doomed to failure until proven otherwise. That's any given person's perrogative, but I don't know how you go through life as a fan that way. I've always been a "there's always next year" kind of guy.
