I'm not going to pretend to have any clue whether this is a good or bad hire at this phase. I know my buddy who is a Bears fan is pissed to lose him. Certainly not pissed at Ross for opening purse strings to get his guy and not ****ing it up.

Nothing changed because you had the same coaches you had under Philbin. Perhaps if Campbell had been allowed to go out and hire his own coaches during the off season, he would have been a more effective head coach next year.

I admit I wasn't in favor of making Campbell the permanent head coach because I was hoping they would finally realize they need a coach with previous head coaching experience. I was hoping for Jackson, Marrone, or Shanahan to get the job.

Since they didn't hire experience and decided to go with an unproven first time head coach again. I would have preferred Campbell in that case.

As you stated though, I don't have the money to buy the team. So like every other Dolphin fan, I am stuck with the decisions of an owner and a head of football operations I have no confidence in when it comes to hiring the right people to turn this team around.

I wish I could just quit being a fan of this team. Unfortunately after 50 years, it just isn't that easy. I guess now I will just have to hope I live longer than Ross. If I do, hopefully the next owner will actually have a clue when it comes to building a winning football team.

Click on the Club forum, and pick your way of paying. I think you can pay online, and you can also send a check in to pay.

Agreed with everything except Rock. Don't know the evo guy but Rock is a good poster from what I've seen. He may not be popular to some but he makes valid points in my interactions with him. I could definitely think of several posters who bring less to this board than rock Sexton does.

Perhaps? Thats a hell of a gamble. Who's he going to get to fill out a staff? He doesn't have those kinds of connections and relationships with other coaches. He's only been at this as an intern and TE coach for was it, 4 or 6 years?

Shanahan was interviewed twice for the job. Obviously he didn't impress the search committee enough to get the job. What's the point of Shanahan at this point in his career? 2-3 years? We don't need that. We need stability. We need a long term stable system. We need fresh minds in here. That's what we're getting.

Maybe you should try having some confidence in them... after all, they are the ones qualified for these front office jobs, not us as fans.

Do some research on Gase. Listen to pressers, listen to interviews, read about his past connects, read about his thoughts. He's maybe not got prior head coachign experience, but he's got plenty of experience in football, and as a coach/coordinator working with some really strong, solid names in the game who have all brought him along everywhere they've gone.

    Meanwhile, in Philly...

"ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Eagles asked permission to interview former Giants head coach Tom Coughlin for their vacancy.Schefter added the Eagles needed to ask because Coughlin stepped down with a year left on his deal. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network noted the interview was scheduled for Monday."

Depending upon how things turn out this could well prove to be a point of direct contrast, a choice of two paths takes....or not!

That's flat out wrong. If you couldn't see a difference between how the team played, from the swag to the effort, then you're blind. The issue is lack of talent, both on coaching staff under him, and on the field. As well as his inexperience and being thrown into the fire in the middle of the season.

You can't take over a team mid season and completely change the culture. I said he flipped it on its head. Which he did.

I appreciate your response, but I remember posters four years ago telling us the same things about Philbin. How he interviewed so well and he had tons of experience in football. How he was invaluable as the OC of the Packers and he was well respected throughout the league.

I fully realize the decision is made and there is absolutely nothing I can do to change it. Today though, I am merely expressing my frustration with Ross and Tannebaum. Perhaps it is just a carry over from this past season with the two of them and the last seven years with Ross as the owner of the team.

I certainly don't want Gase to fail and I hope I can look back in a few years and realize that he was actually a great hire. I just don't feel that way at this time, but as the season gets closer I am sure I will once again be there rooting them on to win every game.

Strategically and tactically, this makes -0- sense.

D was awful, Gase did not improve the Bears offense noticeably.

Feel like Ross got suckered into hype
