per jeff darlington on twitter https://twitter.com/JeffDarlington/status/684200047874019329 michael silver in a follow up tweet said the 49ers have also asked permission, the interview if granted could happen by sunday. this is my #1 candidate.
I've come around on Jackson. Arguably the best HC prospect this off-season. From a resume standpoint, you have to like what he's done. He's been a positional coach numerous times at a number of positions. Not only that, but on both sides of the ball. Has head coach experience, despite getting shafted in Oakland. Did good things w/little talent to work with. Del Rio has more talent now and managed less wins. He's done great things as the offensive coordinator in Cinci... Having that o-line helps, but none the less, credit where credit is due. Plus there is a Tannenbaum connection. That's important because we need our HC, GM, and VP on the same page. That prior relationship may be a very good thing in terms of a working relationship. I don't even remember why, but I recall not liking Hue Jackson during Cinci's year of hard knocks. That's the only negative I have on him. If I re-watched it, I may feel differently now. If he becomes our HC, I'll def. go back and take a look. Outside of that, there's a lot to like IMO.
Almost feels strange to say, but I the 9ers are a worse mess than Miami. I don't know why Hue would want to go there over Miami. Not many teams we can say that about, sadly. I would expect a couple other teams to want him to interview, so who knows if the Phins have much of a shot, but Hue or Shanny would make me feel better about the 2016 NFL season.
A report earlier today suggested that Panthers offensive coordinator Mike Shula didn’t want to interview for any head coaching jobs while Carolina remains alive in the playoffs. However, according to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer (via Twitter), Shula said this afternoon that he’ll make that decision if and when he receives an invitation to interview for a head coaching position.
You'll be waiting a while if Carolina goes deep into the playoffs. As BDH said, he's supposedly not taking any interviews or calls while Carolina is in the playoffs. Wants to stay focused on a SB run. Got to admire that in him. Hopefully that changes. I also suspect he's not on our radar, or potentially not even interested in coming here. Sure, it would be great for him to build his own legacy where his father did, but if things go bad... do all parties involved really want to deal with the issue of legendary Don Shula's kid having to be fired by the organization, or him having to step down? In another city/situation it's not an issue, here its a bit... complicated. Personally, I wouldn't let that stop me from hiring the guy as Miami's coach, but I'd tend to think the organization may look at it a bit differently. Although, with Ross... who knows. He might see the hype train and potential $ signs surrounding a hire like that and he may just be all over it.
I don't think Hue is the right hire, rumor was that he lost the team in Oakland, which is why he got fired, and that is kind of backed up by his next job, secondary/ asst ST? His stock clearly dropped a lot, going from OC to HC to secondary and asst ST is a red flag, suggesting that he did lose the team, so I would pass on Hue.
Absolutely false. 100% a lie. I know this for a fact, as my contacts were still employed by The Raiders at the time. Jackson got railroaded by two people. Mark Davis and Amy Trask. Hue had The Oakland Raiders at 4-2 with JASON CAMPBELL as their QB. Jason break his collarbone, Hue starts asking around about Carson Palmer, and then bam, a first and second rounder are sent to Cinci, Palmer is sent to Oakland and their defense didn't get any better (and losing the draft picks didn't help their cause). Coaches are chewed up and swallowed in Oakland. They do not value, nor do they want, anyone being the face of the franchise outside of The Davis family. It is why they rid themselves of Gruden, despite his success. It is why they brought back Art Shell, hired Dennis Allen and people of that ilk. Coaches they can keep under their thumb. Strictly ego. Jackson was having success, and the front office killed it. Simple as that.
her recent public praise and tweet could be remorse over her past actions. Have always wondered the true scuttlebutt over this Oakland stuff.
I do believe that Hue stated that he wanted complete control over the team the following year, and that the leaders above him better not screw it up. That might have had something to do with his getting fired. Someone posted the quote just the other day.
