he's my top candidate. almost beat the broncos with aj mccarron... parker can take aj greens role. landry can be sanu. stills marvin jones. just need TE near effert lvl and it'll be like he never left cincy. oh wait or o line sucks and defense sucks. but other then that it'll be like he never left cincy. oh, the weather is leaps and bounds better...

Tannenbaum used to be his agent, so there is a chance that not only would Tbaum want him, but that he knows exactly what Hue wants.

I was thinking more along the lines that Ross will go for a more splashy name.

I'm at the point that I'd be ok with Shula, Jackson or C. Kelly.

I would be cool with all three as long as Kelly has a GM keeping him in check.

I need to know more about Jackson. I like him initially. But is he a leader of men? I remember him being really lethargic on the sidelines with Oakland. Which doesn't mean he isn't a leader of men, I.E. Dungy, but just need to dive into him more.

    Here and there
There isn't a DC that can come in and coach this turd of a defense. It's going to take players, and coaches dont pick players. What this franchise need is new scouts and find impact players on defense. We need corners a safety defensive ends and most of all at least two linebackers. That takes scouting and a GM understanding the needs of the teams defense. Like Bill Walsh said when getting complimented on his WCO 'all systems work when you have the players that can run it'

For some reason I keep thinking Mike Shanahan will be the next coach of our Miami Dolphins.

I would have no problem with Jackson as the next head coach. In fact of all the names mentioned so far in regards to the head coaching vacancy with the Dolphins, Jackson is at the top of my list.

There is no sure-fire candidate this year but the best combo I've heard is probably Hue Jackson as the HC with Jim Schwartz as the DC.

I still think Vic Fangio should get consideration as DC but the talk over him seems to have gone cold. The above is the best combo going though. Ironically, as bad as Tannenbaum's history is, his connections to both Jackson and Schwartz may be his most valuable aspect right now.

What gives you that idea? As far as I know, the only team that is even interested in him is the 49ers, and that's only a rumor.

Yeah, I want Shula as well. Hugh seems like an ok candidate, but I honestly don't know enough about him. What I know, which is probably about as much as most do, doesn't exactly thrill me like it does for some people.

There are not many teams in the NFL you can say have a really good OL....the Benglas are one of those teams that do. Couple that with an abundance of talent on offense, and the fact that Jackson has failed at every OC position he has had (other than Cinn)? I see no reason to believe he could be the difference in us being good or not.

I'm totally fine with Jackson. Not excited, but if he's out man, then I'm good with it and support him, and will give him a chance. Much better than Philbin.

That would involve taking him away from my Tar Heels, but Gene Chizik did wonders for UNC's horrible defense. Last year they gave up an average of 39 points a game and lowered that down to 22 in Chizik's first year. However, Baylor did pound them to the tune of 600 yards rushing the other day and the defense did not adjust at all...I wonder what he would be like here as DC?

I don't know what makes me think it will happen, but its what I think.
Maybe it's Ross' desire to go big. While I'm OK with Jackson or Gase or Shula, none of them deliver the big name, big headline Ross covets so desperately.

IMO I don't think Jackson would be a good hire for HC. He is working with a stacked deck in Cincy and until I see Dalton in the playoffs I'm weary to say he is some sort of QB whisperer.

The better option would probably be Shula if he would take the job. I think a good pairing for OC would be Kevin Wilson of IU which I know sounds a bit left field, but the guy has Oklahoma pedigree and he is developing all-American offensive line talent at a basketball school. Not only that but he got one RB drafted high last year in Tevin Coleman who went to Atlanta and the kid they have this year who shredded many big ten opponents.

As far as DC someone suggested Zach Thomas. That could be interesting don't know if he can coach though.

I don't get the Hue Jackson thing. Watched their last game ran on 1st down almost every time. I kept thinking now is time for a play action. Finally late in the game they ran one and threw a bubble screen out of it. WTH? no thanks.

Mike Singletary had to be a position coach before being a DC or HC. Zach won't be any different.

Agree totally, but I would love to see Zach brought on as assistant LB coach, and then let him move up as he shows he's got it.
