I just hope its not a boring olineman or dlineman. Hoping for someone to bring some excitement to the team.

Excitement is always a great idea! Pat White was the most exciting Wildcat splash pick ever!

Take the best player available, we have too many needs to get fancy

The guys I've been told to keep an eye who would benefit Miami are Joey Bosa, Laremy Tunsil, Jalen Ramsey, Vernon Hargreaves, Jaylon Smith, Myles Jack, Reggie Ragland, Robert Nkemdiche

Hard not to want Hargreaves after what we saw Monday.

This draft is setting up perfectly for us. Our two most critical needs are linebacker and cornerback and there are a bunch of impact players at both positions that will be available. Even if we decide to go for a pass rusher there are a few guys to choose from.

Ideally, I want to fall in a slot where a QB desperate team trades a king's ransom for our pick. We have a lot of holes to fill. If we stay put, I want one of the two elite DB prospects: Hargraeves or Ramsey. I'd be just as happy with Jaylon Smith or Myles Jack - can't go wrong with one of those four

Right. I think the best philosophy is to take the star player so long as their on defense. Even if that's Jalen Ramsey and his best position might be safety at the next level. We're that empty on defense. Only Reshad and Suh are irreplaceable.

More pertinent question is which player should you take. These are not cans of vegetables on a store shelf. You don't just decide whether you want diced tomatoes, corn or pickled peppers, to where the individual brand matters very little.

If the draft were held today, Miami would be picking in between slots 7 and 10. With that positioning, I believe the top cover corners (Jalen Ramsey and Vernon Hargreaves) will be off the board. True Revis-esque corners are almost as hard to come by as quarterbacks, so I don't expect either Ramsey or Hargreaves to see much, if anything, outside of the top-5. Expect a playoff team to jump up the board for one of these two, and a defensive-minded squad (say, the Jaguars or the 49ers) to draft the other one.

Additionally, I would be surprised if either of the bluechip offensive linemen (Ronnie Stanley and Laremy Tunsil) made it to our selection. The Titans, Lions, Chargers, and Ravens all have huge holes along their offensive lines, and as of today, they're all picking ahead of us.

After those four, it's a bit of a ****-show, just like any other draft. Paxton Lynch, Jared Goff and Connor Cook each have a shot at the top-5, but could just as easily slip to the second round. Meanwhile, Joey Bosa isn't exactly getting "rave" reviews from scouts. The media has over-sensationalized him to be the next great defensive linemen, while Charlie Campbell and others have reported that Bosa is regarded by some NFL teams as a 5-7 overall player; not a top prospect. He could very well see a draft day slide (much like the one that saw Leonard Williams land with the Jets in 2015) if a couple quarterbacks are picked beforehand.

So, barring any reaches by those picking ahead of us, we're looking at having a shot with the following prospects:

    Myles Jack, LB, UCLA
    Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame
    A'Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama
    Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
    Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State
    Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
    Ezekiel Elliot, RB, Ohio State
    DeForest Buckner, DT, Oregon
    Reggie Ragland, LB, Alabama
    Tre'Davious White, CB, LSU
    Jack Conklin, T, Michigan State
    Jared Goff, QB, California
    Jayron Kearse, S, Clemson
    Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor
    Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson
    Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State

Personally, I'm all in on Jaylon Smith. He's a perfect fit as a 4-3 WLB, and I think he's going to make waves in the NFL.

Hell, last year I called Amari Cooper a future Hall of Famer. I'll go on the record as saying Smith and Hargreaves will join him.

We need to draft a potential impact player, regardless of need. We need TALENT.
