Same difference. People call rookies or young players or minor leaguers kids. What did advice did he give them?
Because he doesn't get credit for ARod when he received top 3 hitter in the game. How does he receive that credit? One doesn't take ARods swing and make it bad. Things start to trickle down and a slight production loss will happen. 50 points of OPS is pretty significant. You're showing me numbers of a decrease with Long, and then telling me why I'm not crediting Long with ARod still being very good. But not as good. Not sure what you're trying to accomplish. You're dismissing Long as a coach because of the talent of players on the Yankees when he was hitting coach, saying your Grandma could have coached them to success when they were having success yet once Arod started to decline it was all Long's fault. I just don't see it that way. If Arod was great with or without Long, then why is it Long's fault once Arod's skills started to decline? I never said Long should get credit for getting Arod in the 1st place, nor did I knock Long for Arod's decline. Is it possible that Long had nothing to do with Arod's success and failures? That Arod's decline had much more to do with his age and injuries than Long?
Yea. It's also possible that you are Kevin Long. Anything is possible. But I know what Long teaches. I know what Alex believes is truthful. And it's flat out wrong. There's no maybe maybe not with that. And I know what the numbers and what my eyes say. So therefore I base my opinion on different factors. You're basing your argument on, who knows. How can I be Kevin Long when FinYank thinks I'm Theo Epstein? I'm basing my argument on facts, hence why I showed actual stats in the previous posts. Anyway what advice did Arod tell those minor league players?
Didi had the best year of his career last year. He came in and was a basketcase trying to replace Jeter, errors etc.....It was widely reported that A-Rod would stay with him before and after games mentoring him about what he was doing wrong etc. A guy replacing Jeter in an entirely different league, playing in NY, not like Minnesota to boot. He played lights out defense post all-star break and had a .294/.345/.417 slash....Didi himself credits A-Rod with this...
Cano credits Arod, Melky credits Arod, Soriano credits Arod. Even mark teixiera has said Arod was helpful while they were in texas together. Im not name dropping but i have known Arod since his Sophomore year in HS, he's always been known as kind of smarmy and douchey. But, he knows hitting, he's a student of the game, he watches film more than anyone I have ever seen who plays baseball. I worked in the minor leagues and i never saw coaches review as much film as I know Alex does. He knows body mechanics better than some Biomechanic professors I know. He doesnt just teach guys the game, he teaches them about how to carry themselves professionally, he buys them suits to travel with, he talks to them about every aspect of the game, from hitting approach to learning how to read pitchers. I highly doubt that if he chooses to become a coach at some point, he wouldnt be successful. He went to Barry Bonds for advice - he had his best year in the last 4 years. I think Barry has the knowledge and the tools to be successful, also. JMO
Got to be more trades coming - right? Cause getting rid of the power lefty in your pen isnt a good idea.
He watches a ton of video....knows the body movements...yet goes on national tv and says the exact opposite of what's happening with Murphys swing? Find that hard to believe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Didi's played two years in the big leagues. One was better at the plate then last year. One was not. So I don't think we can throw his 688 ops out and give ARod a pat on the back for that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Actually it would be how to do steroids and not ever test positive for them but get caught when the FBI raids the doctors office.
Name a young player for Yankees since he joined and there is your list. He is constantly "taking them under his wing".
I expect Jose to remain a Marlin for one more season.. Im not sure we would get a better deal than what the Braves got for Miller.. If we made that trade, with Swanson on board that would have made Hechavarria expendable and he and Dee already made quite a duo.. There was no way in hell Corbin was going to be in that deal too.. Dbacks probably hung up when they heard "and Corbin too" In the end I fully expect Stanton to opt out in the future unless Loria finally decides to sell to Arison. This team is a mess and Jose is pretty much the heartbeat of the Marlins and we already are telling him hes not getting an extension here because Boras.
3 including last year at very inconsistent levels to the point where he was benched and traded, he goes to NY fills in at the toughest position and plays everyday at a decent level while having the best year of his career (albeit a short one so far)? Yes Nap whoever he was listening to was giving him sound advice...
The Boras thing looms for sure, but Miami is asking teams to rip up their rosters essentially for this trade as they should seeing what Arizona gave up for Miller...
His 2015 season was his best season. He was a 3.1 WAR player vs. 1.4 in 2013. He played 52 more games in 2015 vs. 2013 which is important and the only major difference between the two season is his OBP jump which had to do with him batting 8th in front of the pitcher where he walked 24 times, 20 unintentional.
Even without factoring in WAR/defense, he still played in 52 more games this year compared to 2013, that gives him a ton more value.
Yup. Guess ARod gets the credit for him playing more games [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nappy gonna Nappy, A-rod gonna A-rod, Barry gonna Barry - Moving on -- What's Heyward gonna do? Wish the Yankees would swoop in on that, but only so us Yankee fans can ***** about his .190 avg after the first 35 games or so. I kid, I think....
Heyward chose less money to go with the Cubs - This is good baseball JuJu - The Cubs are going to be good, I hope Theo gets them to the top of the mountain. They need one more pitcher, though.
Wow. These are the kids of things I dreamed about when Theo was hired and the rebuild started a few years ago. Adding Heyward and Zobrist to a team that won 97 games last season, and without giving up any of our young talent to do it. 2B Zobrist CF Heyward 3B Bryant 1B Rizzo RF Soler LF Schwarber C Montero SS Russell I don't think that I'm using hyperbole when I say that's the best Cubbie lineup of my lifetime. Zobrist and Keyward add a huge amount of OBP at the top for the next four to drive in, and when your worst hitter is one of the best young SS in the league who projects to grow into 20+ HR power himself, you're doing pretty well. Plus Javy Baez on the bench to cover what looks to be six different spots as a reserve to boot. Oh, and Lester and reigning CY Young winner Arrieta at the top of the rotation. I think a super villan style evil laugh is in order
Shame. Coghlan had career high in home runs. Nice hitter, being pushed out because hes not flashy enough.
Coughlan is a very useful guy, and a popular player with Cubs fans. He'll likely see a lot of time in the OF verses tougher RH starters, as the first LF bat off the bench to PH, and late in games as a defensive replacement.
