Just as a quick intro I'm a life long dolphins fan born in fort Lauderdale. I've been over on Finheaven forums for 8 years but their malware/pop ups are becoming obscene...

Anyway, after watching this disastrous game today I know our team is full of problems but I can't help but think this game would have been quite a bit different if you took Brandon Marshall OFF of the jets and added him to miami. The fact that he was traded for not being a "philbin guy" makes me want to vomit.

Also I've been doing my best to see the bright side of tannehill and I know its not completely his fault with the bad snaps/line play but when he gets this badly outplayed by ryan Fitzpatrick its becoming clear to me that he is not and probably never will be an elite nfl qb...

Hope everyone can forget about this embarrassing debacle of a game and have a good rest of their Sunday lol...

    Agreed.

We can't be too mad at Campbell week after week.

This is the mess Philbin left him.

While we cant get mad at Campbell, he cant be our head coach heading to 2016. I thank Campbell for giving me two weeks of enjoyment when he came in, but he does not have the Experience and we cant take a gamble on him, and back ourselves up another 3 years.

Agreed I think Campbell has potential as a future HC but he's just too young, inexperienced and is clearly in over his head

I know he inherited a mediocre team and I was as glad as anyone when he had this team playing amazingly vs Tenn\hou... I just think he's a little too young and inexperienced to be our HC at least at this point in time...

Not sure why you keep accusing me of being someone else as I said before in the game day thread I'm McMichael from Finheaven.com..... My profile over there is around 8-10 years old and I have around 1800 posts or so you can check the exact numbers yourself if you'd like....I'm not some troll..

I miss the days of being 18 years old and watching McMichael/chambers and co. Especially after watching this embarrassment today lol...

So two weeks after he was fired those blowout wins proved the team had talent and all it needed was a real coach and now we have proof the team is, and always was uncoachable? Which is it?

    Welcome, sir.

I agree. I was done with Philbin after the Baltimore game last year. I thought he should have been fired. I was surprised to see him brought back, but I stayed optimistic. That certainly turned out poorly.

And because we kept him and his staff, we had to stick with the schemes which are obviously a disaster. I think there is talent on this team, but the coaching is just abysmal. That isn't a knock on Dan Campbell or Lou Anarumo. They were thrown into a difficult situation, and they've done the best they can, but we need a coaching overhaul.

As for Ryan Tannehill, I've been posting on Dolphins boards for 10 years and I've never encountered such a polarizing player. The debates have turned cutthroat. I'm still firmly in his corner. I'm not going to ignore the growth he had the previous three seasons just because he's having a rough year. I think a new coaching staff is what he needs now.

It's funny, I never used to think coaching mattered all that much until I saw Joe Philbin's teams. Clearly it's much more important than I thought, and making the right coaching decisions this offseason is going to be crucial.

Actually this mess was created by a clueless owner who has no idea how to hire competent individuals in the front office or on the coaching staff.

Blaming anyone except Ross for the past six years under his ownership really doesn't make much sense.

Not here to point fingers, I think Campbell has done the best he could, it's a shame this couldn't have been some Hollywood story that turned out to be the Oakland As moneyball situation. What Philbin created was a hot mess from the beginning. His first year here had me believing but after everything else it quickly soured. Once we lost to Jacksonville this year I knew we were in trouble. This has been the worst year i've had as a sports fan since I can remember. Philbin left us in quite a hole, but Stephen Ross helped him dig it, and I'm not sure where we go from here. I still believe in Tannehill, but he should be on a short leash next season.

The shame is all of the assets that were lost or given away because Queasy didnt like the cut of their jib and all of the draft picks we had to waste to replace them when we could have used those draft picks on the OL.

The 2013 offseason was and probably will continue to be crippling:

    Consider the free agents signed:

    Wallace - gone
    Ellerbe - gone
    Wheeler - gone
Grimes - likely gone after this year

    Consider the Draft:

    1) Dion Jordan - suspended, likely gone
    2) Jamar Taylor - awful, should be gone
    3) Dallas Thomas - awful, should be gone
    3) Will Davis - gone
    4) Jelani Jenkins - quality starter
    4) Dion Sims - quality backup/potential starter
    5) Mike Gillislee - gone
    5) Caleb Sturgis - gone
    7) Don Jones - gone
UDFA - Sam Brenner - gone
UDFA - Jordan Kovacs - special teamer only

Ireland & Philbin's handiwork still haunts and will continue to haunt. When all is said and done, the lone talent from 2013 will be Jenkins and Sims. I'd argue that Dennis Hickey is probably closing in on that trail based off of 2014. 2015, remains to be seen, but we know that Tannenbaum has fingerprints all over this past offseason.

And we got rid of him cause coach didn't want to deal with him, and cause he didn't want the QB to have to deal with him.

Please don't get me started on Philbin. My fingers will bleed trying to explain everything wrong with his arrival and stay as Dolphins head coach. I never thought I could dislike a coach this much.

Totally disagree on two counts...1) It was Ireland that had control of personnel decisions when Marshall was traded and 2) Marshall had an untreated "mood disorder" (Borderline Personality Disorder) and was affecting the energy of the whole team, not to mention Domestic Violence.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/cri...andon-marshall-punched-face-article-1.1040181

I did a piece on Marshall when he was traded how ineffective he actually was on the Dolphins. The more Miami targeted him the worse their record and the QBs were somewhere in the neighborhood of mid-90 QB rating when throwing to everyone else, but in the 70s when throwing to Marshall.

    For example:

Miami's Win / Loss record when targeting Marshall 7 time or less = 5 wins / 3 losses.
Miami's Win / Loss record when targeting Marshall 8 or 9 times in the game = 4 wins / 6 losses.
Miami's Win / Loss record when targeting Marshall 10 or more times in the game = 3 wins / 9 losses.

Miami's overall Win / Loss record with Marshall playing = 12 wins / 18 losses.

Miami did the right thing getting rid him.

I'm sure Ireland got rid of the guys because Philbin didn't gel with them. Stupid move either way.

You could be right and it sounds crazy knowing how good of a player he is but maybe he just needed a change of scenery and to receive better treatment and develop as a person. Bummer. Sucks for us.

Do a Search & Replace where you switch "Philbin" for "Ross" and you're on track.

Philbin only happened, and persisted, due to Ross.

Getting rid of Marshall was a smart move. He was causing problems during the games and during practice. Not sure if you've been around someone with a mood disorder. When they are not happy, they want everyone to know how unhappy they are and behave in ways that affect everyone around them.

If you watched Hard Knocks that year (Philbin was a rookie coach) it was clear Ireland was calling the shots on who stayed who left. In the Vontae Davis deal they showed him making the calls to the Colts and later informing Philbin about it. The conversation when something along the lines of Philbin asking him if he was going to do it and Ireland saying he thought so.

That was the reported reason Jeff Fisher took the Rams job over Miami b/c Fisher wanted control of personnel decisions.

Yeah, I'm willing to concede on that. Marshall probably just needed a change of scenery, better treatment and time to grow as a man.

I did but it's hard to remember that. I don't believe that Philbin urged that he needed any of the guys we let go.

Hey, a first time disagreement. Getting rid of Marshall was an absolute asinine move and I always love the excuse that he had emotional problems or a mood disorder or whatever. Oh no, he threw a football in frustration. Ahh!! After every game this year, I've wanted to throw my TV or comp out the window. This team has a way of doing that to someone. He seems pretty well behaved now. I understand that complaining to your QB for more throws is far worse than, let's say....punching your wife in an elevator, etc, etc, etc ,etc, etc, etc......I'll take that talent along with that disorder all day!! Anyway.......

From what I remember we had "inside info" that Marshall was involved in some shenanigans at a night club and potentially could be suspended for multiple games and the trade happened a day or few days later. I don't think its a coincidence. And it went down similarly to the Bess trade where we had inside info that he was damaged goods and unloaded him and his troubles on another team. Basically, Ireland was a prick.

You guys are banging on Philbin for dumping Marshall and yeah that was pretty big. Far worse is him getting rid of not one, but TWO starting caliber Cornerbacks that we drafted and made up quite possibly the best young tandem of corners in the league.

That was truly Stupid. Grimes has been great but he is seemingly showing his age, AND there is still no-one opposite of him.

I feel like all this hate we have towards Ireland, Philbin, and Sparano...it's all misdirected anger....the man who's really at fault is Dumbo the owner...he's the one that hired these men, extended them, and/or took too long to fire them.
