I doubt that its every single one, but the one I failed at was to rescue someone who'd been kidnapped. I'm going to guess that the Minuteman quests (which that was) may be more prone to being that way.

I have three different quests that are partially complete because I had to abandon them due to not being able to get past the enemies. Hoping to be able to return later on with better stats and equipment.

I love the "weight" of this game Bethesda did a great job making things feel like the have some density...the weapon and power armor are fantastic..I could spend hours jumping off things for the hell of it. I personally have zero to complain about.. quests companions story combat are all top notch imo.

Something I came across that I thought was cool. I'm in a conversation with a guy who seems to be a major character in the game, talking about a series of sidequests that I'm working on, and he incorporates the next mission on my list in the main questline into his dialogue. Basically "This thing that you were planning on doing next over there seems like the right idea. Do it and then we'll talk about it afterwards". Makes the game more alive and immersive, especially because it at least seemed like the timing of the two different storylines didn't have to match up like that.

I've started putting some perk points into the weapon catagories (I use rifles and pistols, mostly), and was pleased to see that after you do, your weapons attack power reflects that upgrade when you look into your inventory or are at the crafting bench. I was thinking that you would just have to do the math in your head and assume that it was working X-times better than the numbers show.

On a related note, between the upgrades and the perks, and finding a few new weapons, things have gotten a whole lot easier for me in the last few hours of game play. I've gone from using guns with 30-50 attack, to ones with 80-100. I'm level 24, and am going to unlock Gun Nut #3 at my next level too, which should allow me to really take a few of my guns to the next level.

Now, my problem is that I'm always right up against the wall in my carrying capacity because my guns are weighing me down badly. When I remove all of my junk and extra items that I pick up, I have around 50 lbs free.

You need to pick like 3 guns you use regularly and carry just those (maybe a pistol too). Make sure you don't have Mods weighing you down also.

Yeah, I'd gotten into a habit early in the game, with ammo so sparse, of carrying six or seven different guns that use different calibres because I'd run out. I've decided to stick now to a combat shotgun, and assault rifle, a .10 calibre handgun, and a powerful .44 calibre revolver. Along with a bladed baton that does 30 damage for when dogs or ghouls get too close. On top of that, I bit the bullet and modded all of my armor pieces to be "deep pocketed", and can now carry a max of 290 lbs. So now I should be able to leave my base with 100 lbs or so of room, most of the time.

Also, are you transferring junk to your mule (companion) when playing? I think most of them can carry like 200 lbs or more, even Dogmeat can hold 150 or so.

Yes, always. Learned that trick in Skyrim.

I also sell all of the boxed food products that I pick up as soon as I can. Trashcan Carla is usually hanging around Sanctuary these days.

Really good article about the difficulties with the user interface in the game. I agree with virtually everything the writer says. Half of the challenge in the game is overcoming how confusing the interface makes everything. I suppose maybe that was intentional? Like you were dropped into this world and have to figure it out? Either way, its been a frustration for me, and I think a very unnecessary one. So many things that you expect a game of this nature to do, it either doesn't do them at all, or does it very poorly.

I'm really enjoying the game itself, but I would enjoy it more if the UI was even average.

Something I've noticed the last few times I've played is that it seems like the world of the game is "alive". I've come across buildings or other areas for a quest and found dead bodies of two of the factions where they'd apparently killed one another in a battle. Its really cool that while they're all "enemies" to the player, they aren't all on the same side. I had a mission to clean a building out of super mutants yesterday, and I went in to find 75% of them dead, having been killed by a few protecteron robots.

My favorite thing about Bathesda games is small things they set up in the environment. I read all of the terminal entries because some of them are hilarious. Then there is just matter of what is laying around certain rooms. For example in one of the police stations, an interrogation room table had the following on the table: few cigarettes and a cigarette pack, ashtray, handcuffs, a coffee mug and rat poison. Now, if you open the door, grab whats on the table and move on, you don't see the hilarity in it. I try to catch little things like that on purpose and I'm sure that I still miss good portion of them. Shows that these rooms aren't being randomly generated, but created by hand.

There are a lot of intentionally constructed scenes. Some of them are funny, some of them are really somber. I found a hidden bunker in a junkyard with two skeletons hugging each other on the mattress. The nearby terminal made reference to two kids being taught where the bunker was, but there were no child skeletons in the bunker.

    Holy cow!

    http://www.vg247.com/2015/11/30/fallout-4-secrets-tips-pc-ps4-xbox-one/

#1 is a total game changer for me. Here I am, level 38, and I'd just given up on getting the companions to wear gear. I thought that it would be like Skyrim, where they would just automatically equip and use the best stuff that they were carrying. When that didn't happen, I figured they couldn't use anything except for their default. Having them wear actual good gear should definately help them stay alive longer along side me!

#5 is useful too. I thought that the bell was an alarm for when they were being attacked. I can't tell you how many times I've walked the entirety of Sanctuary Hills looking for one follower. I've taken to having my favorite companions crammed into the Rocket store so I can grab them easily, lol.

I had figured out most of the rest, though some only recently. Its a good list.

On another note, I think that its so cool that I've played the game this much and never once felt the need to "grind", and battle vs easier enemies to gain XP and loot. I just explore and quest, and the rest takes care of itself. I'm filling out my perk chart pretty close to my plan in the beginning, and am going to embark on a mission in the main questline that I've been avoiding once I'm at level 40 and can max out my weapons, armor and power armor. From there, we'll see, but I feel in no way over powered, and I get killed on a pretty frequent basis.

I saw that yesterday. Seems like a good article, but I quit reading part of the way through because it had some spoilers for parts of the game that I haven't gotten to yet. For me, a lot of the fun of the game is discovering things on my own.

I have been "farming" pieces of armor the last few days though. I had a mission that took me to a point much further to the Southeast than I've been otherwise near a Gunner base. After completing that, I've been fast traveling back to that spot, killing a handfull of them, stripping them of their gear as much as I and my companion can carry, and then fast traveling back to my base. I've gotten myself a really nice set that way, I've equipped all of my companions who can wear gear with good stuff, and I have all of the settlers at my three biggest bases in armor and uniforms.

I have five or six different sets of power armor, but I haven't worn any a whole lot. I just did a mission in the main story where it was important to wear one, and that was definately the longest I'd had one on. I think that I went through three power cores before it was over.

I actually don't like doing that on my first playthourgh, trying to be as "natural" as possible. That's why I don't read where ANYTHING is or anything like that unless i've been there xD I do agree that Legendary Loot is pretty meh for the most part, unless you are farming non stop I'm assuming. I'm playing on Hard, with not a great combat build and I'm thinking about cranking it up to VH because at this point it's getting kinda boring.

On a side note, encountered a group of super mutants yesterday, one of them had a plasma rifle, i got really excited, and naturally - got blowned the **** up by a nade. First time I died in like 3 days. Go figure he didn't have the plasma rifle after reloading :(

As far as power armor...Yeah, I stopped worrying about it lol. I have like 3-4 suits, other ones I wear, then get bored and ditch them. I just don't like them.
I have a main one I keep at my HQ, rest are for the lulz.

Still haven't bothered building anything past the minimum requirment, despite going with a high charisma build for solely that purpose :D

I regret going with high charisma. It does nothing in this game.

I'm beginning to agree with this review:

I'm going to finish the story, and hope that the mods revitalize the game when the GECK comes out in 4 months. I have 500+ hours in FONV, and I already want to play it again. FO4 is feeling more and more like a chore.

I'm playing on normal, level 40, no idea how many hours I've played since the PS4 version of the game doesn't track it properly due to rest mode. (I'd guess around 60). I still get killed a lot, despite having what I consider pretty good gear and weapons, and despite generally being very careful. I save before I open almost any door, lol. Its definately a challenge for me, and about as hard as I would expect/want a game like this to be. I have finally gotten to the point where regular ghouls don't overwhelm and murder me, thankfully. They still creep the living crap out of me though.
    en
Just walking around and exploring, I keep coming across areas that I hadn't found or been to before, even in areas I've spent a lot of time in, and I think thats awesome. There truely is an almost limitless amount to find and uncover. Almost any small building could have a door that leads to a huge area underneath.

As to the charisma part, I do agree for the most part. I have a level 6, plus the first to levels of the "lady killer" perk. I find that I'm generally 50/50 with women now on yellow choices, but usually fail with men. How much this effects the outcome when I'm trying to be diplomatic is hard to tell. I do agree with the author you quoted in regards to that interaction. I went through the conversation as peacefully as I could, several times in fact because I kept getting killed, and it always ended with his death. This despite the fact that later missions seem to imply that it would have been better had he lived. The fourth of fifth time that I went in the room to talk, I just pulled out my shotgun and blasted him before we started, lol.

I had a main questline mission last night where I had to be slow and diplomatic, but Danse was with me, and kept attacking the other character on sight. It drove me nuts, and left no possible resolution. I ended up having to load an earlier save and send Danse back to base before I went to talk.

So, FYI, apparently there's a set limit on how much you can build at a settlement. Had a really nice plan working and was having fun building up a large building to fortify one of the larger ones, and it stopped allowing me to add anything else. I was really confused and thought that the game was glitching, but I found online that its set within the game. Oh well, there goes that.

There's a meter in the upper right corner of the construction UI that tells you exactly how close you are to reaching that limit.

Mods on the PC version get rid of the limit entirely.

Yeah, I discovered what the meter meant the hard way. At a smaller site, with less going on, it may not be as much of a hassle. I'll have to take a look and see what may be a better alternative. Was thinking I could make a really cool base there though.

My problem with the limit is that all sites need defense, and defense counts against the limit. It's not even balanced, just silly.

It's in there because consoles can only handle X amount of objects placed in close vicinity. So of course, efforts to build really cool and interesting structures are held back by the object limit and the relatively low diversity of objects.

The PC patch is basically just the previous beta patches that were already available. The fixes are not comprehensive, considering how long this game has been out already.

I've personally haven't had a lot of performance issues. The most common one is when a NPC wants to start a conversation, the game will shake and wobble as it forces my character to turn to face them. There's also a lot of slowdown when the game is autosaving, but that may be intentional.

The game shouldn't slow down at all when auto saving. You shouldn't even notice it happening.

Oh, well it absolutely does. Always see the notification in the lefthand corner of the screen. Such as when completing a sub-objective of a quest, or leveling up. In my experience, this is pretty normal with a lot of games though.
