NOT WHO YOU WANT TO START, but which one do you THINK will start this Saturday's preseason game vs the Bucs? The way things are looking right now, Sparano may start a different QB for each of the first three preseason games, and then go with the regular season starter in game four. Certainly not the preferred way of doing things, as starters typically play about 2 and a half quarters in game three, and then sit out that last game.
I think Beck gets the nod. But McCown may get the second game if things dont go well. I'd like to see Henne start the 4th game, just to get the feel of game speed in case we get desperate.
I think Beck starts, and his performance dictates whether he spends the season as the back up or the starter.
I think it'll be Beck too, I see him bouncing back this week... now if he doesn't bounce back, it'll be McCown, by default because he has the most starts.
McCown because I think he is still the favorite to be the day 1 starter so they will want him getting all the playing time he can get.
It's really a tossup between McCown and Beck IMO. I think they giv Beck the nod though because nobody really knows for sure what you have with him yet.
My guess would be McCown. But it wouldn't surprise me if they started Henne just to light a fire under McCown and Beck's respective asses!
I think so too. The scrimmage used the same order that they'd been using for practice, but I think they will start McCown then play Beck. BUT, based on how things go this week and in that 1st game, I would not be the least bit surprised if Henne moves to 2 by next week. I don't think we will start Henne over McCown no matter how good he plays, but I honestly expect him to win the back-up job in the next 2 weeks. Beck will be moving on next year, I'm sure he will keep his ardent supporters no matter where he goes. (Or how he plays).
Beck. You gotta see what you have in that kid. If he starts go bad, you might have to go back to Josh "The Chopper" McOwned and wait to see if you can put in Henne before the end of the year. No QC option? BZ
Mcown will probably start, then it will be Beck, then Henne. Who ever does the best starting with the first team will play the last game as the starter.
I want to bump this, especially for those that haven't voted yet. Also, would like to get some input from you guys on whether you think Beck even plays tomorrow? The local media seem to believe he doesn't even get a snap (which would be an absolute shock to me). I think it'll be McCown that doesn't get a snap or comes in late in the 4th quarter.
I think Beck gets the call week 1 to start. Henne will get the most reps in week 1 though. I think McCown will get the call in week 2.
I think we see what we have with Beck. Give him 4 games. If he doesn't pan out go with McCown until Henne is ready.

As Sparano said I dont think the depth chart means very much at this stage .I think the starter for next weeks game will be more telling. I will guess that the veteran Mc Nown will start with Beck coming in after couple of series . I do think Beck will get the majority of the snaps.
could be, yet if Beck comes in after McCown you'd think he'll be playing with second teamers. Seeing as our second team OL has struggled, it'll be like last year all over again for Mr. Beck.
