In regards to ur previous post, I hope you're right. Hope Thill becomes a stud next year. Highly unlikely tho in year 5 he all of a sudden figures it out. He's never been a franchise QB and I'd be surprised if he's here for another 4 years. If he is it'll be because nobody in the draft fell to us. The front office, who obviously isn't sold on him gave themselves an out after next year. It's definitely not a given he will be here 4 more years unless Mr. Ross enjoys the 7-9 seasons he leads us to.

I haven't missed a game in probably 12 years. Whenever Directv came out with Sunday ticket. How many 3rd and 30s did we have today?

they didnt need to sign him. they could have waited another year. they made their decision last year he was the guy. i see nothing this year to change their mind. i think they're going full force to fix the oline once and for all (which doesnt require that much) and then spend the rest of the draft and free agency on defense. i think they realize they simply dont have the personnell to compete for the playoffs after the philbin housecleaning of our best players. the question to me is does lazor bull**** his way into another year. i have never seen an OC abandon a run game as fast as him. how do you start a game running for 8 and 9 yds a carry, get two first downs and then immediately go the pass. shouldnt dallas have to stop one run before you switch at least before you start passing the ball?

We routinely have 3rd and long. Like 3rd and 7+. And, routinely, we see four man rushes, with three receivers and a tight end, and Tannehill has to settle for routes that don't even cross the first down line.

It's not like we routinely see manageable third down distances. The booth guys even were commenting on that today.

Can anyone find out what our average third down distance needed is vs the rest of the league?

This season has me so down on Tannehill, mostly due, probably, to the constant negativity about him around here. I truly believe with an at last average oline, the offense as a whole, and Tannehill specifically, will look a whole lot better. However, if he doesn't, at least you've made the situation palatable for a new, incoming rookie.

Our line doesn't suck because of lack of effort, it sucks because of lack of player evaluation. We ve spent plenty of resources on the oline. I hope they finally get ur right but let's not pretend like all we need to do is try. Albert, big fa money, turner 3rd round pick, Pouncey 1st round and big contract extension, Thomas 3 or 4th round pick, James 2nd round pick. We ve tried plenty just hasn't worked.

Pouncey is fine, despite his recent snapping issue. Albert is just a walking injury. They took a chance, and it didn't work out...issue with that, is they had no backup plan for that. James might be ok. Turner has been pretty good in run blocking hasn't he? Thomas and Fox shouldn't even be in the league.

It's tough to find quality backup LT. Pouncey contract is stupid imo. You dont pay a non impact position that money when ur team has 3 legit playmakers on it (jones, wake, suh). Miller has made a case this year, ironically in the passing game. Huge improvement on his hands this year. James seems to be servicable and I think Turner is decent enough. Definitely need to find a good G to replace Thomas and I'd like to see an upgrade at T and turn James into the backup, swing tackle. Easier said than done tho.

Agreed plus we could lean on miller and ajayi more. I think the problems on offense are basically we keep shooting our selves in the foot. We get a couple of first downs then someone blows a block, or gets a penalty or drops a pass or tanny holds the ball too long. Then we get a 3rd and long and which we don't convert and punt. It's a murphys law type of offense

Guys, guys, guys we are ignoring the most important thing...although we only completed "one" 3rd conversion today Tannehill was able to improve his QB rating almost 7 points dumping it off short today and finish with a 90.3 QB rating. And since wins and losses aren't important for a QB because that is actually not a stat so doesn't exist, Tannehill was able to focus on what is really important, the QB rating?

And who cares that Tannehill had a dismal 18.6 QBR which measures clutch play and contribution to a win (again, a win is NOT a QB stat) b/c that doesn't actually measure anything anyways b/c ESPN has not made their secret sauce public.

I've always felt like this. I make plenty of sense, you just don't agree with my opinion on Thill so you assume I don't know anything. Truth is I'm a sports junky. Granted, I know more about baseball because I played 4 years at a university known for their baseball but I haven't missed a Fins game in over a decade. I had high hopes for the fins and Thill this year. Just hasn't worked out and after 4 yrs of the same crap offense I'm done making excuses for him.

I challenge you once and for all, (this goes for the rest of your clubhouse) to illustrate for the forum what percentage of a given game win or loss is on the QB. Layout your case, show your work and explain the math.

Stop crying. Stop whining. Stop rubbing one out on your hate-on.

Make your case with actual numbers, facts and formulas. Because that crap ^ is stupid.

Dude shut up. There is no stat with a percentage given to a player with how much they contributed to a win. When has ESPN or the NFL displayed a stat and given a formula for that?

You got me Fin D...I mean you are the smartest person I know. And since you have said it isn't a stat, despite the 10 or so links from different sources I posted that took about 2 minutes just a couple of days ago, it definitely is NOT a stat. I am just wondering when on earth the rest of world is going to get it.

I mean, every friggen announcer today was talking about Romo being 3-0 as Dallas starting QB today and the other QBs being 0-7...I kept screaming at the TV, "Would you ch ukleheads STOP IT!!! It isn't an actual stat b/c Fin D said it isn't!"

    What more can I do?

It was just coincidence they won those 3 games with Romo. Had nothing to do with him. Or how about maybe the OL played better when Romo was in the game? That's right. The OL and receivers played worse with the other QBs. A QB doesn't impact the game that much. Romo can't take your team from 0-7 to 3-0. It's not possible.

Come on man. Does this not sound ridiculous to you as you're typing this? It's like me asking you to put a percentage on the oline being thill only problem. Better yet, once and for all show us the percentage that the oline and Lazor are at fault for Thills mediocre career. Show your work!

What percentage would you give? Since what you're asking for actually exist? Since ESPN and other sports sites give these percentages you speak of? What you're asking for doesn't exist. Tom Brady is the biggest reason why the Pats are 4 time super bowl champs. Cowboys 0-7 with Romo. 3-0 with him 0-7 without. Without Rodgers Packers were 2-6. Before Flacco that Ravens defense couldn't get them in the playoffs. Then they win a super bowl. But yeah keep asking for a magical formula or a percentage to confirm franchise QBs make a team better. Derp.

I never once said the QB doesn't impact the game.

    Try it from this angle.....

    The QB effects the game.
    The coach effects the game.
The other team effects the game.
    The oline effects the game.
    The dline effects the game.
The LB corp effects the game.
    The secondary effects the game.
    The wrs effect the game.
    The TEs effect the game
    The RBs effect the game.
    The STs effect the game.
    The weather effects the game.
Whether its a short week effects the game.
Whether its a cross country trip effects the game.
Whether its a road or home game effects the game.
The home crowd's voracity effects the game.

There's plenty of other things that effect the game. Since we're all just sooooooooooooo stupid for not understanding why the average game's result is on the QB...

THEN EFFING EXPLAIN IT TO US.

Fill out your case instead of your diaper. Its apparently so common sense why can't you do it?

95% offensive lines fault. How I got that. I don't know good QB play and think Tannehill is a franchise quarterback. Based on his average play for 4 years especially against divisional opponents and games with playoff implications. Other 5% is on the coaches.

How does wanting evidence sound ridiculous to you? Proof is not a boogeyman.

Saying the oline and Lazor and not being able to audible are PROBLEMS is not the same as saying Tannehill is quantifiably bad because win/loss record. I've seen games that were lost by special teams. I've seen games that were lost by the defense. I've seen games lost by the coaches. I've seen games lost by the refs. And yes, I've seen games lost by the QB.

Tannehill has problems as a QB. Saying he's got problems is one thing. Saying the evidence of those problems is W/L record is stupid.

Ryan Tannehill has hit a wall this season. He had clear improvement every year he's been in the league, but he has stalled at the moment.

You don't throw him away, you bring in guys who can help him break through that wall. Starting with better coaching. Franchise quarterbacks don't grow on trees, and Ryan has shown plenty of good things over these four years. He's someone you can work with, and that's exactly what the front office will do. As they should.

You're clueless aren't you? Other areas on the team underperforming doesn't excuse Tannehill from his poor play. You always want to blame EVERYONE else but Tannehill. Other QBs in the league don't have ideal coaching or pieces around them. But the best still put up numbers and make their teams better. Now we are going in circles. This has been said to you more than anyone else here. He is an average QB and once again had a bad game. Let me guess. That pick 6 was on the OL.

Who is disagreeing with football being a team sport? And what's that have to do with asking for a percentage you know can't be done. This offense has gone through a ton of changes the last 4 years. From hc, OC to personnel. The one constant is Thill. Don't you think the QB has a bigger impact on a game than anybody else? Don't you think Thill is PART of the problem?

It's not the secondaries fault. If the defensive line got more pressure then the secondary would do better. QB has too much time to throw. It's not the DLs fault. If the secondary didn't break down in coverage early they would get more pressure and sacks. Let's make excuses for everyone. Why just Tannehill? You know what? I bet Jamar Taylor could be a top 5 CB if he had a better DL playing in front of him. That darn DL holding him back though....

They said EXACTLY what I thought they did. They identified a QBs won/loss record as a starter or gave the QBs winning percentage which is wins/game started.

What the win/loss record does is it provides insight to the quality of a QB when looking at it over time.

What you are asking for is something different. By your standards you are saying a completion is not a stat, a TD pass is not a stat, yards are not a stat, an interception is not a stat, etc...? Because it takes a WR, OL, etc...for all of that happen, but every NORMAL person would say the QB completed 18-24 passes for 241 yards, etc...and then it can be broken down by more stats under the context in which they occur.

What no one, other than someone like YOU would do is say, "Those aren't stats unless you can show what percentage of those is the result of the QB."

Since you want an actual percentage then you should be on board with QBR...QBR assigns the percentage of what is on the QB, OL, WR for all play. And Tannehill had 18.6 today and now has 33.3 for the year. That puts him 31st out of 32 QBs (only ahead of Foles 33.0).

I think you are actually thinking I need to prove this  I don't...it is everywhere and used all the time in assessing the quality of QBs. Pretty much, it only isn't recognized by guys like you who have a crush on a QB and his win/loss record sucks. If you don't like it, THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM, not mine. I have, do and WILL keep using it.

Were you under the impression I actually care what you think?
