I think it's time to move on from Misi this offseason.

Having just watched the Eagles game on coaches tape I can say that this linebacker thing could be a problem unless Zach Vigil is significantly better than the other guys that were out there this last Sunday. Koa Misi was not the problem and he will be missed if he's out. Jenkins even more.

But I do applaud them for deciding to put Vigil out there. That was one of the takes I came away with from watching the film. Neville Hewitt looked like an undrafted rookie. And Mike Hull looked even worse. At least 2/3rds of the time, Kelvin Sheppard was a dumpster fire.

Although reading Armando's blog it's hard to say if he's just ASSUMING that the starting linebackers will be Vigil, Sheppard and Paysinger, or if that's what he saw at practice.

If the latter, the big change there would be Neville Hewitt and Mike Hull being bumped down the depth chart a bit...which I find unsurprising as it seemed like they cycled through Hewitt, Hull and even Vigil for a couple of snaps out of frustration because they weren't doing their jobs well. Vigil didn't play enough snaps to evaluate (5 of them)...though obviously he made a big play on special teams. He looks a lot bigger than the other guys. That could be a focus based on the opponent.

I'm sure a lot of that has to do with nerves. Hoepfully, they all will get settled down quickly and start to make some plays.

Yea lets get rid of our 2nd best linebacker, in his prime, under contract for the next 2 years with a cap hit of less than 5 mill each season. On a team where LB is absolutely a needed position, real smart. Maybe we should let go of Jelani Jenkins and Reshad Jones too, after all, that idiot Jeff Ireland drafted them as well lmao. Btw, great game by both OV and Shelby last week (No one likes to praise OV for some reason when he performs, only b**** when he doesn't). Rishard is another reminder of what a terrible GM Ireland was here too. With the coaching this team has had in the last 4 years, it's amazing we're still relevant. It's due to talent and decent drafting. That's why we beat the Eagles, they haven't drafted/signed in FA as well as us for a very long time (Danny Watkins, Marcus Smith).

Never mind evidently they're going with Hewitt if Jelani Jenkins can't go.

Sad that Jenkins may not go. I know people are aware that's he's good, but I think we are talking about a STUD when we mention Jenkins. Some of it is subtle and he's smallish but I can't wait until he is a fully seasoned pro!

Sad to see that the only guy on the injury report who went full today was Damian Williams. Of course the guy I don't want to see back on the field feels great and is ready to go. :smackhead:

Misi is good when healthy. McCain is practicing at LBER and I have waited a long time to see that. Vigil is intriguing.

I agree Misi is not a dynamic LB. However, we are hurting at all of the LB spots. There is no sense in creating yet another hole. We only have so many draft picks and we really don't with certainty who will be available in free agency. I'm betting we keep Misi. He's fairly cheap and pretty solid.

I like Misi, but he is always injured. You really cannot build around someone injured all the time.

Its actually surprising that a player like Misi, who's solid but not special in any way, has stuck with the same team for six years despite starting only 66 out of a possible 89 games due to injury. He's just always hurt. Even if you throw out his rookie year, he's missed or been limited to a reserve role in 18 games the last four seasons, so more than a quarter of the team's games. If he were an amazing difference maker, like Cam Wake, then its something you could understand and be cool with, but for me, this year is the end of the line for Misi hopefully.

From the official team site, regarding Lamar Miller:

It would be really cool to see him tie the team record. Ricky is tied with Paul Warfield and Mark Clayton for the most consecutive. No Dolphin has ever scored a TD in seven straight.

EDIT: Miller is also on pace for 1493 yards from scrimmage, which would be the third most in a single season in Fins history, behind only Ricky's 2002 & 2003 seasons.

That seems impossible. I would have thought Csonka had way more the 7 straight games.

I agree, he isn't good enough to justify keeping him, as Unlucky also said, he's a solid but unspectacular LB, and his greatest asset is being diverse and smart, however, I do think we have bigger fish to fry, so many other areas of need, perhaps one of the younger LBs has the potential to move up and take his spot? but there are so many holes to fill and not enough picks so I wouldn't be targeting Misi this offseason, just imo.

I wasn't around back then, but the team's media guide lists the record as six. Remember that Zonk was always part of a RB commitee while he was in Miami. His season high of 12 TDs didn't come until his final year in 1979, after five years away from the team. During the Super Bowl seasons of 72 & 73, Morris scored 22 TDs while Csonka had 11, and Kiick had six. Until Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown came along, those were the top three rushers in team history, and their careers almost totally overlapped. Of course, Ricky and Ronnie were on a lot of the same teams too.

Not that I am counting or anything, but we had Earl Thomas at 12 also, and traded down for Jacksonville Jaguar, Jared Odrick as well as Misi. FML

I still laugh thinking about that post where KB was insistent that Earl Thomas was too small and would never make it. I give him credit though for sticking by his convictions, he would never budge from what he thought was right.

Misi isnt a player you build around with... And he is average anyways... Funny, dolphins fans use the phrase "cant get rid of him , we have issues other areas, we will create another hole if we get rid of him"... Somehow, i see this as a problem and the reason why we are on this treadmill.

We continue to try to patch things up on other areas and ignore upgrading key positions because we are okay with keeping an average player there that is just another patch from a massive hole left by Zach Thomas.

How about we get rid of Misi, and draft a playmaking gamechanging MLB. every top defense has one. You cant name me a top defense in the NFL that does not have a better linebacker leading them than Misi. Try it, its not possible.

Jenkins and Paysinger are doubtful, Misi is Questionable to play.....don't get the love for Vigil in here, he has the hips of a 350 pound NT...

Morris Claiborne is out for the game, which means they will put Byron Jones at CB opposite Brandon Carr....and Tyler Patmon in the slot.....yikes...Jarvis Landry could catch a lot of balls, Sean Lee is also back for them, but what is the over/under for him limping out before halftime ?

Jesus, I know, Ireland could be especially obtuse in season. Remember the year he scrambled for McKinnie..this site literally had at least three contingency plans already in place that were better. Pats took Waters, which was one of them, he did well as I remember...So funny how many experts we have on this site. My favorite was when Canephins tracked Ross' jet in real time when he cheated on Sparano to court Harbaugh. That thread was epic. I think if we just ran a sticky thread come draft day, and the GM actually followed our advice...

I do like Hickey, though. God I hope Tannenbaum doesn't get jealous and let him walk.

Watched mashups beforehand, knew he was full of bull concerning Thomas

Be that as it may, you go into games with the guys you have, not the ones you should have had if there was competence.

Oddly, our Lb corps atm boils down to Tannenbaum's skill at finding gems in UDFA's and late rd picks..ie...he has to earn his pay, there are no high draft picks or big money FA's to bail his decisions out.

Oh, if that was bad, consider Jimmy Graham, who we had at the Senior Bowl and the staff loved

4th rd grade, he went rd 3, we took John "I suck" Jerry instead..that draft in hindsight was just brutally incoherent and delusional
