Who's your dream scenario for Head Coach next year?

Been giving this alot of thought recently. Obviously, first and foremost I'd like to see Campbell get the job because that would mean we finished this season strong. I'm not giving up hope for the season, but the realist in me says that we have far too many holes to push for a playoff spot. IMO it's going to take Campbell leading this team to a 7-5 record to have a realistic chance at the job and even still I don't think that'll be good enough. You know Mr. Ross wants a splash signing instead of doing what's actually right for the franchise.

I'm personally on the Hugh Jackson band wagon. He did an admirable job in Oakland leading that dumpster fire to an 8-8 record and having them in legitimate playoff contention. I always felt like he got a raw deal over there, he's a good coach.

People know I'm not the biggest Tannehill supporter, if he resembled the flashes of brilliance more consistently I'd be all in on the guy. Here's to hoping he can do that.

I think Jackson is just the guy to get Tannehill playing like he's capable of playing on a more consistent basis. Look at the wonders he's working over in Cincinatti with Andy Dalton. I'm a believer that Ryan Tannehill CAN be better than Dalton given the right circumstances, it remains to be seen if he passes him up. Jackson understands QB play and how to accentuate his teams strengths. Sign Jackson and watch this offense reach new heights and legitimately compete for the playoffs year in and year out. I'm that much a believer in him.... If you could play Ross and make the decision on our next coach who would it be and why?

I'm always a bit dubious about coaches that have been coaching for a long time becoming HCs, that rarely works, because leadership is the biggest attribute for a HC and that usually is evident early on and those guys rise quickly, so many good coordinators have been bad HCs, and most good HCs quickly moved up the ranks, he's been coaching 25 years now.

Not saying he wouldn't be a good HC, but his slow march up the coaching tree is worrisome imo.

If Cambo can lead this team to a 7-9 record at this point, I would bring him back.

Im fully behind Campbell, but if it wasnt him, Id be fine with Hugh Jackson. CK describes him as the offensive version of Rex Ryan. Im also ok with Sean Payton.

Excluding completely unrealistic options, my choice is Sean Peyton, who then brings with him a high quality DC.

Normay I'd agree, but we have a sample size from Jackson albeit a small one. He transformed that Raiders offense into a pretty good one, rather quickly. That team had NO business being in the mix for a wildcard that year. I just think the guy gets it. And I truly believe we'd get the best from Tannehill and the running game from, him. He'd have to bring a good DC with him and I think this Dolphins team would have a solid identity and rather quickly. I like the guys passionate demeanor and hunger as well. Might be in the minority but I think he'd be a home run.

I don't follow college football, the names not familiar to me. What does he bring to the table that makes you want to vouch for him? Is he and offense Or defense guy?

    1. Campbell (only because that would mean we made the playoffs this year).
    2. Gus Malzhan
    3. Hue Jackson

That's it, though. No one else.

Malzhan is the Auburn coach correct? Aside from hearing the name I don't know too much about him. What's his speciality, the offense or defense? Do you think his style of football translates well to the NFL?

He's been the head coach at Georgia for a long time. They're usually good, but never great, and he's not known as an innovator on either offense or defense. If you're going to bring someone up from college to the NFL, it had better be someone with a plan to think outside of the box and exploit am area that others aren't already doing. I don't see that in him.

I like him because he's won every where he's been and he's done it without a system. He successfully adapts to his players.

I want someone with a firm grasp on how to get the most out of Tannehill and this offense. Someone who truly understands how vital the ground game and a solid OL is to his success. Hue Jackson, Sean Payton, Mike Shanahan or Kyle Shanahan. Sign me up for any one of them, in that order.

Hypothetically, if Campbell is retained, do you think he stands pat with Lazor and Anamuro (however you spell his name) as the coordinators? I want Lazor gone, I feel like he's clueless and part of the problem.

IMO (no special insight), I think that if Campbell comes back, then Lazor does as well. Anamuro maybe, maybe not. Likely depends on how the D plays the rest of the way. That said, right now I give Campbell 50/50 odds at best, and those evaporate if we don't do well the next two weeks.

Sean Payton would be interesting if only to see if we could keep going with this 'feature the QB' game planning that Lazer has started. Personally, I don't think Tannehill is quite up to that but it'd be interesting enough to consider.

I want a more physical team though, one that is less reliant on the QB. I see Tannehill as being Flacco-esque in his casual nature. Maybe a guy like Vic Fangio could help instill some toughness in the defense and promote more of a running game so the heat would be on our defensive playmakers. In that scenario Tannehill would be icing on the cake.

That's what you gotta aspire for I think.... Bring some maulers in on that OL and run it down people's throats. Naturally, Tannehill will perform better under the circumstances. The numbers don't lie.

Mark Richt has been to 14 bowls in 15 seasons, 141-50 WL in the sec... He might be let go... He is a very good coach.. Georgia would be a fool to let him go but he probably has worn out his welcome... When u think Georgia you think RB's and defense... I think this guy would be a nice fit in the nfl now that it's shifting towards a run happy league...

2 offensive minds who have been innovative at the college level. One's system dominated consistently, ones appears to be much more talent dependent.

I disagree. His teams score points. Week after week, year after year. He turns almost any WR into a productive player. Their wins and losses often come based on how good or bad the defense is, and their D has been awful at times, but I don't lay that on Peyton.

Counting this year, his teams have never finished worse than 12th in points scored, and in the top 6 six times. Their worst finish with yards is 6th, and have led the league four times. They've finished near the bottom of the league in half of his years in points allowed, and that's why they haven't won more games.

Would love Campbell to be retained and have him hire his own coaching tree. Todd Haley would be on my list also as I think he is a pretty good Offensive guy.

    Tag Ken Whisenhunt as OC.

I could be on board with this. Even if Campbell gets us to the show, I'd still be a bit concerned with his lack of experience moving forward. Keep him paired with a good assistant HC though, and I'm more comfortable with it.

I may give Hue a slight edge over Malzahn though, simply because of the shaky history of college coaches coming over. Hue and Jim Schwartz though.... nice.

I'd also have Payton in very close contention with those guys as well if he was interested. I think it'd be important though to have a strong offensive staff in place though if we went with him.

I think most great coaches implement a plan they feel is effective, develop players that can execute it.

With the high turnover rate in the NFL, switching systems based on that can be a disaster.

Yup, most likely. As I said though, I'd still be concerned with his lack of experience and would continue to want him paired with an assistant HC. Rizzi to me, is an odd fit for that, but it's working. Even if he gets us there, I'd still want a strong assistant of some sort with him to continue to help him grow into the role.
