Greg Cote: Miami Dolphins need consistent success to turn hope into belief http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/greg-cote/article40287759.html We can get two wins in a row. The question is will we considering that we never beaten Houston before ever. Thoughts?
we need.... corners but yeah i agree with the article, if they can sustain this into next week and more importantly into new england it would go a long ways to doing just that.
its the perfect thing to say to these players..especially the vets.. Id sign him to an extension..lol..
When I read an article like this, I get angry and think, "who are you to tell me how to emotionally invest in my team?" ...I don't need your advice on who to support! Kinda like Marcus Mariota's knee...
I'm not getting excited over a glorified preseason game. One that followed a bye for us. Facing a team with one of the worst o-lines in the league and a hobbled QB. And on defense they either had a horrible gameplan, especially considering everybody and their cats knew we'd try to run it down their throats, or they quit. Get it to 6-4 and we can talk.
I am not saying you should get excited as I too am not getting excited yet. All I'm saying is that going into that game, Tenn, had the #1 rated pass defense and the #9 rated rush defense.
I prefer Football Outsiders metrics which had them as the 3rd ranked pass D and the 28th ranked rushing D heading into that game. They will almost surely be ranked as the 32nd ranked rushing defense coming out of that game (not updated yet). And they'll probably have the 31st ranked o-line, only because there is no way they'll surpass Seattle in that department.
Yeh Deej...gotta tell you Im all in on Campbell. He will be our coach for a long time, I can feel it. Which, I fully admit sounds crazy and people can justifiably tell me so, I get that. But from day one when he talked about motivating everyone individually....I knew that was our coach.
Thats the great thing about it. Nothing to talk about. You get to chose how you want to view Sundays game..and our season. I mean right there you came up with at least 4 excuses why we were able to beat the Titans.... Hopefully we will all be on same page though later on in the season.
I like Campbell a lot. The Titans defense had been good all year until we came into town. Each week will add to that to see where we are headed.
Campbell is serious about challenging his players and staff. I do wonder how soon until it wears thin though? Sent from my SM-G360T1 using Tapatalk
I hear ya' bro. I am not getting too excited over the win, but it certainly was great to finally have a good football Sunday and it's a good sign. Better than losing. Also, regardless of the exact rankings, Our OL, up until this game, was considered by many professionals and people here, etc, to be terrible. Our QB hasn't been injured, but again, many professionals and fans alike, have questioned his abilities and considered him, up until this point, to be insufficient. It was the Phins who really hobbled Mariota. Again, better sign than losing, no?
I've been seeing a lot of people saying this Titans team was the first rated pass defense and etc. Don't want to bust anyone's bubbles, but on a yards per play standpoint (which is the most tell-tale indicator, IMO), they were about middle of the pack before our game and now they are near the bottom of the league against the pass (28th). They are also 26th in running yards per play. This is not that great a Titans defense as some are making them out to be. DISCLAIMER: The point of this post was not to rain on anyone's parade, what I want is for people to have some perspective on the team we just played.
Agreed. Some of our players can be a bit....well...over confident in themselves. Granted, the worst of the worst with the "my **** don't stink" attitude, Hartline, is gone, so maybe it will last. If (had to literally make that a big "if" lest lurker douche nozzles want to accuse me of implying anything) we keep winning, it may not wear thin. It may depend on the press clippings and if the team buys into those over Campbell.
IMO, Campbell, if he gets the HC gig full-time after 2015, is going to be one of those coaches that players grow to dislike during the week, but then LOVE him on game days.
well, thats a great question and im sure something thats in the back of all our minds.. '' none of our experts know how this all works, but when it comes to will his message or ''his way'', wear on players, I dont think so, I think if you have a style like Campbell the presense and leadership have to back it up, does his presense and leadership qualities demand respect and accountability?...yes imo,.when you start talking about guys like Philbin or another example Pagano, I dont think their intangibles measure up, so players eventually tune you out..But with this dude being so original, genuine in his persoinality combined with the edge of being very young and strait from the grid, I think there is a combination there that players will either respect, or you know what, gtfo our team..basically we want the danimal blueprint, what he thinks makes a tough player. once we know he and his staff are capable of scheming quality opponents in big games than its ll about locking him up for a long time and giving him that security so players know, its his way or highway.. Hes the exact kinda coach we want for this twon and culture, moreso than in any other place...if he's got the intell for exploitation, then im so all in because of who he is.. I really dont thinhk one player will disrespect this man....pretty cool stuff can happen when all 53 buy in to the head coach.
hes going to work them hard but I think your comment here Ro doesnt give him enough wherethall to recognize what is over the line..I actually think hes quite conscious of that line wear fun meets overboard..I think his players will trust he knows whats good for them.

That was a stat another member made up. Tennessee was #1 against the pass and #23 against the run...which is why we went with the game plan that we did.
No, they didn't make it up. That's what they were ranked when you go by the NFL standard of yards. Anytime the NFL or ESPN, etc. says where a defense or offense is ranked they use yards, unless they specifically specify what they are ranking by or if they are using someone's metrcis like PFF.
In a sense. I think most players LOVE Rex Ryan during the week and during game days, as long as the team is winning. It's when things go south for Ryan's teams that things start to go awry, as we're starting to see some players grumbling in Buffalo after the Cincinnati loss. That being said, I watched that game and the Bills' defensive gameplan was approaching Kevin Coyle levels of bad. If there's a weakness on that Cincinnati offense it's Andre Smith at RT. Mario Williams dropped into coverage so many times while lining up over Andre Smith it wasn't even funny. It was shades of the KC game last year for Miami.
I meant it in the sense that he's got some Jim Harbaugh in him. He's a former player, a competitor whose not afraid of hard work. I think we'll have to see what happens in a practice week after a loss to get a sense. Campbell doesn't strike me as intense as Harbaugh, but one of the first lines of his locker room speech after the Tennessee game was talking about their intensity in practice during the week and how it, "...makes me want to f****** bleed for you guys." I think Campbell's approach works, especially when the team does well and wins games. The unknown is what happens when they don't win games, as we haven't gotten there yet.
This has to be the best paragraph written by a beat writer in a long time. Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/greg-cote/article40287759.html#storylink=cpy
The Titans are currently ranked in the bottom third for total rushing yards, and rushing yards per game. Were they really ranked that much higher going into the Miami game?
