changing the culture is the most overrated term i ever heard.. there are two cultures, winning and losing... guys are going to be flying around hitting ppl.... i heard this from every head coach since i started watching football... the list of cliches and catch phrases goes on and on.... not jes for us... im not bashing dan for saying what someone rehearsed with him... obviously we cant handle the truth... i think we will beat the titans but dan is clearly not the answer and neither is this new DC... culture change is impossible... we are winners or losers... motivation from a HC only gets you so far... eventually the players are ultimately the problem... i dont see any fight in our team... and if we are to become winners the players on the field need to be held accountable... all of them... its well documented that suh ignored a team rule in protest...if not for the price tag attached i would have cut him.. disrespect of the team rules and the coaching staff will not be tolerated, defend him all you want.... its my opinion... RT17 is the answer, as for all teams, the qb is the answer... keep him upright and let him win us games.. if he cant then move on... a coaching staff that can evaluate talent is whats needed... a staff who wont let guys like suh say what he wants to the media and get away with it... dan campbell is the equivalent of handing the keys to the asylum to the inmates... cliche.... changing the culture from what dan? winning to losing.. thats the only answer... ppl flying around and playing hard doesnt cut it... this team need discipline, they need to be evaluated, they need to be taught how to play their position... they however do not need to be motivated day in day out, this in not college, these are men who knows what at steak... $$$ dan is another in a long line of coaches that are in way over their head hired by the dolphins.... now if this was the U dan could step right in and be successful... in order for dan to succeed he needs atleast 4 years to build a team to his and his coordinators strengths.... he needs 4 years to learn how to coach, we need to win, lose, win, and lose again... i applaud teams like the steelers and the bengals... the have a winning culture because the allowed their coach to grow.. the had hard times and stayed the course... im not saying we should have stuck with joe but the next HC needs time... and not 3 years... he need to learn how to win.. we have never been a team that strikes gold, we need to build our team from the scrap heaps... i thought about what i wanted to post all day but now im brain farting lol but some of you will get my point...
He has had one practice. Not even a game in and this guy isn't the answer? Anything else your magic 8 ball is telling you?
he is not the answer because he will most likely win 5-7 games and be replaced at seasons end... this team and this fan base will be calling for his head and threatening to stop buying stuff...
First off, if he wins 7 out of 12, there won't be any interviews next year. It is clearly his job to lose, and Ross wouldn't give him the power to choose his own coordinators if this was just an intern gig. Second, you simply do not know what you're talking about, my friend. The front office asked for Campbell to take over. The players flat out demanded it. Everyone in the organization thinks that Campbell is the guy and they are thrilled Ross made this move, and it was BY FAR the best move we could make at week 4 going into a bye. An outside coach would want to change everything and write off this whole season in the process...but not Campbell. He made it very clear; tweak the problems, get a lot more physical and win right now. On a scale of 1-10, making Campbell the head coach ranks in at a 9.9997, and I think he's going to surprise the heck out of a lot of people this year. Sure, maybe we do only go 8-8 overall but considering what we started with...getting our asses handed to us by Washington and Jacksonville....8-8 is pretty darn amazing. Just wait and see.
im glad ur optimistic, this team and this board needs more fans like you..... i however am realistic... the first time dan cost us a game it wont be pretty.... i still hope like hell they keep him and let him grow.. im tired of new coaches...
What were we supposed to do? Keep Philbin? The reason why Marvin Lewis has lasted so long in Cincy is because Marvin is the defacto GM and if you remove the playoff loses is pretty great. He's really never been on the hot seat because the bengals are a mom and pop outfit and will probably never fire him unless he really screws something up. The same can be said about teams like Green Bay and Pittsburgh. They rarely have a whole lot of coaching turnover because of how well the organization is run by those in charge. There seems to be a certain pride that the players play with on these teams as well...Like a historical pride. We had that here at one time, but over the last 15 years it has dissipated and we have become a punchline for jokes around the league. This isn't a proudly run organization, this is a money can buy wins organization which can work sometimes, but it's never a model of consistency for winning. There was a three headed monster that needed to be slayed in order for us to try and move forward. Philbin is gone, and believe me...I looked at Marvin Lewis, and thought briefly "why not just give him more time"? However the sad reality is that these are different circumstances and Philbin simply could not handle Miami. As for Dan Campbell and the "replacements"...Well don't expect much and I think we will all enjoy the season a little bit more. I would love nothing more than for this to turn into some Hollywood story similar to the Oakland A's Moneyball movie made a few years back, or better yet a scripted remake of Major League (the football version). Team coached by unknown longshot with unknown underdog assistants turns team into winners....It would be the story of the year if that were to happen. Sadly I just don't think it will....Doug Flutie isn't going to show up and make magic....We are stuck in a bad spot but at least we are comfortable until the real cavalry arrives next season. For now i'll just enjoy what I can of this team.
The next coach will be Tannenbaum's call...I don't know if Campbell going 7-5 the rest of the way means he keeps the job.
Not sure why you think Campbell's introductory press conference was "rehearsed." Did you watch Hard Knocks? This is how he is. It's not an act. And it's exactly the kind of fire our team desperately needs.
um, how did UF go from absolute crap last year to being 5-0 this year. They got new coaches........ What about Michigan, absolute crap last year, got new coaches, pretty decent this year.........
I would like to see Campbell return for the next season. I'd like to see what he can do with a full season. Training camp would look totally different in my opinion.
He gets this team to 7-9 or 8-8 he deserves the job. He's got the respect of the players. If he gets to either of those records, what are you going to do? Get rid of him, lose the locker room again and start fresh?
I dont know what to be more upset about.. The fact that after a horrible season last year the Oline got ZERO improvement in the off season or that after making Geno Smith look like a QB god with a perfect passer rating in 2014 our secondary got ZERO improvement in the off season. Not that I dont like Jordan Phillips or D. Parker but after signing Suh should we have really drafted a DT with our second pick? A WR in the first given the OBVIOUS holes we had on the line and secondary? As a fan my hands are tied.. I'm going to sit home with my jersey on just like every weekend no matter who the coach is, just like every season.. This is Sunday entertainment and my son and I have a great time watching the games. Id like to think he can turn things around, that's my hope of course. Its odd to me how some fans are now ok with a 7-8 win season but 3 weeks ago were in a rage if that was suggested.
He got here through Parcells' connection, he was recommended to Ross by Parcells to take the reigns this season, he's got the pull he needs. It really is his job to lose.
