I hope he brings out some aggression in this team also, but you guys who are getting all excited about an "appearance" need to step back for a second. Seriously.
I spit my drink Lol. Now if we could get him to throw his arms up at people randomly in the hallway.... We know we got a coach Lol. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
After Hard Knocks, Dan Campbell became my favorite coach. I didn't think he would get the interim job, but I'm pumped he did. This dude is fierce. Blue collar, fiery, tough. Complete opposite of Philbin. Players love him and he is someone who connects well with them. We'll see how it plays out but I love this choice. Who knows, maybe he takes this head coaching job and doesn't have to give it up after the season. I'm excited for the next 12 games to see how the team responds to the changes and new attitude installed by Campbell.
Just watched the conference on the team website. If nothing else, the guy is intense. He looked like he could have taken a few reporters' heads off in answering their questions. LOL
Never thought I'd be sitting here with Dan Campbell as the head coach of the Dolphins. But hey, there you have it.
I'm dubbing him Captain Campbell. We suck, but I take solace in the fact that our interim coach could beat any other coach's ***.
I just heard this news. This is so funny! In another thread when discussing who on the team would make a good interim coach, I mentioned that I would like Dan Cambell. However, I didn't even know or think he would get any consideration. I like him a lot. He's got a fiery personality. A kind of personality that can maybe relate to and connect with the players. He's also a character. I like him. Who knows? May be good.
Just a tiny bit intimidating. No one would chirp at that guy. Only thing Rex Ryan would say is that Campbell could come over and bang his wife.

Campbell: You....what in the blue hell is your name? Dallas Thomas: I'm Dallas Thom... Campbell: IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS!
If: - a head coach is or can be essentially a manager/figurehead overseeing the DC/OCs - lazor was indeed being held back by philbin's input into playcalling, scheme and personnel decisions - the players were giving poor effort because of loss of faith in said figurehead - run/pass balance is key to shield our crappy OL This could be a brilliant move. FWIW I cannot imagine us throwing 8 passes inside the 5 anymore
Well, to cynical, are there any franchise type prospects at the top of the 2016 draft? Wish Campbell the best, just think Coyle has lost the Defensive unit
If this, or any team for that matter, take-on the personality of their HC (and I believe they do...see several Dolphins teams since 2000), then holy cow will this guy be a breath of fresh air. Get them fools hyped and pissing fire Dan! I'd already written this season off after the Bills game, so I don't care if they lose more than they win over the next 12, as long as they play with fire and show some gradual improvement along the way, and some EXCITING ****ING FOOTBALL! Go deep...sell out on the blitz...put a TE in there to block like a freaking mad man...fake punts/razzle dazzle FFS. That would be worth the losing season to me. Of course I'd rather they win a bunch and make the playoffs, but that's not necessarily a realistic expectation. Give us a reason to be excited watching the team besides golf claps and head-scratching RZ play-calling.
Wow that press conference couldn't have gone any better. If what he's saying translates to the field at all this year I could say he may earn an extension.
Indeed. But... ...must...not...allow...hope...to...rise... Change "press conference" for 'offseason' and we're basically back to the start of the season.
Campbell starts speaking at 1:24
I can't wait for the press conference where Campbell is explaining his moves "...so he couldn't block for ****, and that's when I benched his rootie-poo candy-***"
Just watched the full 20-minute press conference, and I was very, very impressed with this guy. Now you have a head coach who's going to create a culture that jibes with the team's best player and new leader, Ndamukong Suh. Campbell says we're going to toe the line between being competitive and dirty -- can you imagine how much that's music to Suh's ears? Now he can jump on board with the head coach and his culture, which was the big problem with this team so far.
The presser was just what we needed/wanted to see, imo I could see how he already had ideas about how to turn things around before he was even asked to be IHC. It seemed to me that it was already bothering him, again, this is just me reading his body language and so forth but that is how it seemed to me, that he was already frustrated by it, and by Philbin's lack of addressing it, there was one of those moments where he seemed to be covering a little anger, where he said something vague about Philbin was here, and now that's over and it will be different. Also it seemed to be the theme of his speech, without trying to make it sound exactly like "Joe didn't really know how to do it, but I do", and that is motivation, poke, prod, pet or punch, motivate these players, HOWEVER it has to be done, challenging them at practice, motivation through fear of losing a job, or because they want to be great or because it leads to more fame and fortune, whatever, it just has to be done. The thing to me was, it seemed like this was boiling over inside of him, like they were obvious things that were being ignored, and that maybe, just maybe a little anger towards Philbin for letting it happen. or go so far, it just seemed to me that there was an undercurrent of anger, and it was directed at the lack of motivational stratagy. Either way, I think we we're all glad to hear what he had to say, and how he said it, I look forward to a HC I can actually listen to, gave up on it with Philbin a few years ago, he goes on and on and says nothing, Cambell is going to be a lot more like Rex or Cowher, your going to get some fire from him, good and bad, he'll be happy after good performances and he'll be pissed after poor performances, so he'll either be telling jokes or serving notice, I can't wait, I like him, I hope he is the real deal.
I really like Cambell. Before he was hired or promoted, I was saying he would be my choice for interim HC. I am really pulling for this guy. I hope he doesn't lose any of that personality and doesn't get overwhelmed, etc. Totally different ballgame being HC. I like him. He's a total character. Also, he looks and sounds just like a good friend of mine. It's going to be interesting going forward. Enjoy. Better than the staleness, huh? However, I also feel bad for Cambell because all the talk of this being a team with a lot of talent, as it stands now, is untrue. Our LT is injured. The OL is absolute trash. Our starting FS is injured. Our rookie RB who could have made a nice compliment] to Miller is injured. Our LB unit is absolute garbage. Outside of Grimes, our DBs suck. No one has benefited from the Suh effect, Suh included, Wake has been dinged up a bit, but he's in there and he's been non-existent. Our first round pick has been recovering from foot surgery and has hardly played, so he's obviously not a big contributor, etc, etc, etc, etc... Tough.
