Change his tune? Lol philbin knows hes going to get fired anyways after this season. There is no way in hell he gets another extension. If ross walks in his room and tells him you have to fire coyle now (after telling him to fire sherman which philbin did not want to do), philbin will be like well, wheres my contract extension, why am i going to make changes if im not going to be around, fire me for i can get paid and be gone.
not yet. hopefully by 4pm we know who our interim coach is. anyone know if ross flew to miami from london or back to ny?
Ross is going to let us down again. Philbin will keep his job at least until the end of this terrible season. It's 2007 all over again. Patriots look like they may run the regular season table again and Miami looks like they won't win another game. At least then Miami had competent ownership.
I agree with Blitz, Philbin will remain until the end of the season. Ross just doesn't learn, and it's going to cause the franchise to suffer. ROSS is the real problem with the team, and until he sells its going to be an open sewer of malaise.
Philbum should have been canned with Ireland, but our owner didn't feel he was the problem. Clearly, he made a huge mistake. This is what happens when billionaires try and make football decisions, just like with RGknee. Pick your GM Mr. Ross, whomever that is should be given authority to choose the coach because they know a hell of a lot more about football than you. Then if things don't work out get rid of them all. It's pretty simple logic, but it gets all f***** up when your ego gets in the way and you start forcing your decisions on to the football men you've hired. At least now Philbum will be gone, it's just a matter of time. However because we've waited so long this season already looks lost. Give Hickey the entire off season to find his new coach, and it that doesn't work rinse and repeat. This season is probably only gonna get worse but at least Ross should learn his lesson. It's probably why he hired Tannenbum in the first place because deep down he knew finding a new H.C was only a matter of time. I'm not thrilled with Hickey, Tannenbum or Ross but a new head coach for 2016 is going to help a whole lot, Philbin and staff are just garbage. This team still has a lot of talent to build around going into 2016, we just need the right Chef. However this first quarter of the year has really shown me our window is in the future, not the present. I really believed that this year would be our year to really surprise people and make the playoffs, but a lot of that belief was based on the strength of our dline. Suh hasn't lived up to his price tag but our defensive ends are truly the group that's killing this defense. Wake is done, finished. Amazing how quickly he's fallen off, but this is the NFL, this kind of thing happens. OV is the one that REALLY disappoints me, but at least his price tag is being significantly reduced as well as Millers' (even though it's not really his fault). Jordan's suspension has really hurt this team, we really could have used a talent like him with the way our ends have struggled, but he made his choice and we just have to live with it. We have to start looking into the future now, and Ryan Tannehill is the future of this team. He's played poorly this year, but so has Luck. In fact, just about every young QB is struggling right now in the NFL, because reality is it's very rare for a guy like Marino to come in and set the world on fire, most young QB's take a lot of time to develop. All in all I'm still very happy with the core of talent on this team. Tannehill, Pouncy, James, Lamar, Cameron, Simms, Landry, Stills, Parker, Matthews are all very young and talented. On defense Jelani and Koa are solid but we definitely could use a stud MLB. Our DT's are also very young and talented and our secondary has a few nice pieces to build around in particular Reshad Jones. Our defensive ends and offensive line are really the groups killing this team (as well as coaching). We need to cut Wake after the season and completely rebuild our ends and oline similar to what Scott McCloughan has done with the skins. This team still has a bright future with a lot of individual talent but Philbum and company need to go. For all of Ireland's mistakes even he knew that much 2 years ago. And finally, the nightmare that is Joe Philbum is about to end. Too bad it took this long, but at least our best players are still young.
I think the only true talent we have in the defensive backfield are Grimes and Jones. Not sure who else you're looking at.
And here...we...go...! (Word/Rumours creeping out about Philbin) Here's the original: The link is to Facebook, so for anyone without FB -
Aaaaaaand Coyle?? The defense is the side of the ball thats quitting and disgruntled, the offense just has to deal with the leagues worst OL and playcalling.
The axe has to fall to keep the ship afloat, i'm ok with Dan Campbell as interim head coach. Jim Schwartz might not be a bad call for defensive coordinator. Watch it happen and then the team kick up the emotional and intensity levels several notches, team is DOA under Philbin, no pulse.

Jim Schwartz makes way too much sense. Not only can the guy run a defense, he's also familiar with Suh, and in the same breath we protect our investment in Suh. Even without Suh here, I would do backflips if we added Schwartz to this staff. I agree though....if you're axing Philbin, you might as well chop Coyle out of the picture as well. As for Dan Campbell as the interim replacement, I love it!

I've been out for a while guys but I just wanted to come in to say I knew I was right about Suh and the entire coaching staff. I remember how many people here jumped on me about Suh, which is why I left but I accept your collective apology.
Has anyone stopped to check Jim Schwartz's head coaching record? 2012 and 2013 should be reason enough to keep him out of our HC job.

On one hand, I feel a bit bad for Philbin it didn't work for him. Seems like a good person. On the other hand, I'm so thankful he's finally gone. He just wasn't good enough as a coach. Now.. on to Kevin Coyle...
You know what i find ridiculous, reading comments on facebook of them saying "some coaches are just coordinators. Philbin is a great coordinator not a good headcoach". This guy gets so much undeserved credit in grgeen bay. The guy did not call any plays, Mccarthy did. Stop it already. Hes a good family man i think, i dont know him. But as far as football goes, we dont know what hes good at. But he did nothing in green bay to get credit for. He passed out playbooks and reviewed game tape. Thats called being a video coordinator. Mccarthy didnt even have to use his headset when philbin was there, and it wasnt until a few months ago that mccarthy gave up the play calling duties to Clements.
Freebie: Meanwhile...
I agree. Some people are not meant to be head football coaches. Look at Wade Phillips. I'd love to have him coaching our defense, but is not head coach material.
