We heard reports that the Ginger wanted Mike McCoy but Ross wanted Philbin and well...we see who got their way. Will Ross go over Mike T's head and hire someone Tannenbaum doesn't necessarily favor? We know TBaum isn't going anywhere but does Ross also force Hickey on the guy?

I think this time Ross needs to let Tannenbaum handle everything, the search, interviews, final decision, who to hire, who to fire, I don't even want Ross present for any of the interviews, we don't need him in there calling candidates by the wrong name again lol...who knows what dumb **** he'll let slip out of his mouth to turn them off...he's embarrassed the franchise more than enough, just stay away.

I understand the last time we let the VP pick the GM and coach he ended up hiring the modern day version of Matt Millen and the fist pumping failure but hopefully Mike T finds the right men to lead this franchise, I mean we're due right?

I'm personally done with first-time Head Coaches. That's what, the 3rd in a row that doesn't work out?

What would it take to get Gruden to step down from his TV gig? I'd be all in on him. Well known, well connected, respected, fiery guy (lord knows we need some of that), he's won before with a veteran game-managing QB, and what's more important, he was very high on Miami in preseason. He said he thought this was our year to dethrone the Patriots. Probably means he thinks we have a lot of talent on our team which is good.

Ross will make the decision with tannenbaum and probably others(peterson) in his ear, propping up guys that have a relationship with. There have been some good coaches hired recently(arians, quinn, bowles, ryan) and we are stuck with queesy. It's a damn shame.

I think it'll wind up being Tannenbaum that keys in on someone and convinces Ross.

However, I think Tannenbaum's reputation is dubious at best and that he's going to ruin the next regime with bad drafting and probably hire an incompetent HC as well.

That's just my prediction as of October 4th, 2015 though.

It's gonna be interesting to see how much power the new GM has if Hickey is let go...we heard about Mike T overruling Hickey during the draft once or twice ...though obviously if Tannenbaum hires some new guy he'll have a little more trust in him compared to Hickey who he inherited.

Let Tannenbaum pick his guy,and give it 3 years. If it doesn't work out, can 'em all. Enough of these half firings. Keep a regime, or bring in a new regime

While I have zero confidence in Ross's ability to hire a competent head coach. Exactly what has Tannebaum done in the NFL which shows evidence that he is qualified to hire the next head coach?
Fans in New York were delighted to see the Dolphins hire the man who ran their franchise into the ground and left them in cap hell as their GM. They knew it was only a matter of time until he did the same thing in Miami.

In fact with the huge contracts he signed Suh, Tannehill, and Pouncey to, we are already on our way to cap hell part 2.

I don't see anyone in this organization I trust to select the next head coach. I also have no desire to have Peterson involved in the decision, because he is the person who convinced Ross that Philbin was the right guy for the job in 2012.

Hopefully on the flight home from England, Ross will realize he is not capable of being a competent NFL owner and he will decide to sell the team. That is the only chance I see this organization might have of become successful in the future. Ross and his inability to hire a competent staff to run this organization is the major problem with this organization and I don't see anything changing as long as he remains the owner of this team.

As Philbin only answers to Ross, only Ross can fire him. That said, Ross has stated that he's done with making the Football decisions and that's why he hired Tannenbaum as the team VPO. Once Philbin is fired, it's all on Tannembaum.

Tannenbaum hired Rex Ryan as the HC of the stej. I'd rather have Rex than any of the clowns we've had since Shula and Jimmy were here. IMO, Tannenbaum can't do worst than Wanny, Saban, Cameron, Sparano, or Philbin.

He kept Sparano and Ireland far too long. He hired Hickey, a GM no other NFL team had any interest in hiring and then turned the football operations over to Tannebaum. A very questionable decision, IMO.

I don't see that he has made a single good decision in regards to the hiring of qualified individuals to run the football side of this organization since he began the majority owner over six years ago.

If your happy happy with Tannebaum and Hickey, so be it. I am not happy with them at all.

I have been saying that for some time now, but his defenders always want to tell me I am not a true Dolphin fan if I feel that way.
Yet I have been a Dolphin fan for longer than most of the posters on here have been alive. All I want is an owner who knows what he is doing. Because it is obvious Ross doesn't have a clue.

It wouldn't surprise me if Ross signs Philbin to a new long term contract on the ride home from London.

A lot of the guys taking up big cap hits are either hurt or doing terrible. I'm pretty sure we can cut loose grimes, wake, and Albert at years end with no hit and right now none of them have given us a reason not to. They're making a lot of money to do nothing.

I'm not all that hopeful that Ross or Tannenbaum will hire the right guy. Something tells me this is just the start of another 3 year cycle of disappointment.

Well restructuring Suh clears a whipping $18 million in cap space, doing the same with Albert clears about 6 mil, that's 24 mil right there, carry over the 10-12 mil we have now, cut Greg Jennings and that's around 38-40 mil that we'll have....which makes lowballing Evan Mathis look even more silly.

What Ross needs to do is find one guy and put him in charge with the ability to do whatever he wants - hire or fire anyone - make it his show.

That guy and that guy alone answers to Ross for the success or failure of the team. Everything filters down from there. Anything else will be a train wreck.

Converting his guaranteed salary to signing bonus would result in big cap savings next year, with no lost money for Suh.

Long term that would mean more dead cap money if he is cut before his contract is over. I'm not sure about the 18 million dollar figure though.

Imo, the problem with this is that it hurts the future for the present, which has been the Fin philosophy for far too long now, just let him play 3 years and cut him, there's no way to get around the 64 mil guaranteed, but over half of it will be gone after next year.

Ross has said he hired Tannenbaum to make the football decisions, so to answer the OP, we'll have to wait and see. Has anyone heard what Tannenbaum or Hickey has said in relation to this? If I'm a reporter, I'm asking them about it also.
