We get the best pass rushing D tackle in football and we now have maybe the worst pass rush in football.
Well we have 1 sack in two games against two of the worst olines in football. So my guess would be yea.
I posted this in game thread. But I keened on Suh for a lot of the game. Every snap I keened on him, he was the worst defensive lineman in the group. He seemed completely disinterested once the lineman even made contact with him. Pathetic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why is this happening with Suh? I mean we are only two games in but he has yet to impact the game at all. I'm also afraid to say it, but both Wake and Grimes are showing their age. If Wake, Grimes, and Suh aren't playing well, we are going to be in trouble. Reshad Jones is doing his part, but the other three need to get going, starting next week against Buffalo. I also think at this point Kevin Coyle gets most of the blame. This coaching staff is terrible. Coyle doesn't seem to have his guys engaged at all, meanwhile Philbin is still burning timeouts and falling apart mentally when the game matters most. Only two games in, i'm not giving up but I fully expect an 8-8 finish at best if we continue to play like this in the trenches.
Yeah, the Suh thing is very concerning. The defense as a whole. I didn't think I could be more angry with the defense than I was all last season...but I am. Suh is looking like a complete waste of resources. I know it's only two games, but you don't shell out that money for Suh to only get 14 games of production out of him...and that is being generous, and assuming that Suh gets his head out of his *** and starts playing, because he looks downright awould right now. They should bench him and start Mitchell next week. See if that lights a fire under him.
Actually I attended a peewee football game last week and I think one of the teams actually had a worse pass rush. So at least one team in football has a worse pass rush than the Dolphins.
Agreed, I feel like they just aren't engaged with what Coyle wants. Things will change after this season. This is Coyles last year.
Coyle is awful. Took to long to swap McCain with Taylor at CB. With no pass rush, you put Chris McCain in ONCE for a blitz?! And Phillips had a huge presence when in, yet his snaps were limited. Clueless coaches leading an uninspired defense.
Which is what we are seeing, today did not see #91 out there very much. Also think our OL is not protecting the DL via using the same cut blocks on opponents that they are using on our guys
Coyle hasn't done a good job, but it's not his fault that our 4-man rush gets consistently stonewalled time after time. We just aren't getting any pressure on the QB, no matter how many men we bring. That's not just on Coyle, it's on the players too.
Suh is a great player, but I think Aaron Donald is the best pass rushing DT in football. Besides the point. Definitely been a disappointment so far.
dline was better last year lmao. should have invested in the oline. nah, we didnt need the best rated lg that was available 3 weeks ago. everyone from the top down in this organization is inept
Winning free agency doesn't typically work out for teams, and especially the Dolphins. Not sure what made us think this time would be any different.
No real surprise here since the same things were happening last year. Perfect example, Jared Odricks altercation with the staff.
and outplayed him big time yesterday LMAO. probably could have kept odrick and improved our oline. Maybe they think that since they spent so much on suh, they can use garbage parts on the oline and get away with it. **** you philbin, **** sucker.
I felt last year that the players on the team just weren't buying what this coaching staff was trying to sell them. It appears that this has continued this year and now there are reports that Suh is starting to freelance and not play within the structure of the defensive plan. I just don't think many of the players on the team have respect for the coaching abilities of Philbin and his staff and that is being shown on the playing field. As long as Philbin and this coaching staff remain with the Dolphins, I just don't see this team being any better than the same mediocre team they have been the last three years under Philbin.
Best DL coach around, Kacy Rogers, left our team and went to the Jets. In part because Coyle is dumb and he didn't want to work for him.
First time in bortles career he hasn't been sacked. If that's not an indictment on our dline issues, i dont know what is. What will it take for change to happen?
I'm not defending Coyle because I think he is the problem but Rogers left because he got a promotion to DC, plain and simple.
Wake is getting fairly old for a player in the NFL. He started having to deal with nagging injuries last year and it has continued into this season. Unfortuntely it just might be that we have already seen the best we will ever see from Wake and he will just continue to decline in production from here on out. It is beginning to look like the so called great DL the Dolphins were suppose to have this year might just end up being a very expensive DL, which is only mediocre in regards to production on the field.
Pretty sure Rodgers would have chosen the Jets over Miami, had he been offered both DC jobs. Him and Bowles are pretty tight IIRC. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
If he had been offered the job at the same time, I agree with you. Yet the Dolphins had the time and opportunity to promote him to the DC job before Bowles was hired by the Jets. Once he was hired as the DC of the Dolphins, the Jets would have been prevented from offering their DC job because it would have been considered a lateral move. The NFL prevents coaches under contract from accepting a job with another team unless it is a promotion.
Coyle. Coyle. Coyle. He's inept. Just like Philbum, just like Lazor. Can all of them! This coaching staff is an absolute clown show. And our owner is about as clueless as Al Davis.
Coaching is definitely part of the problem. But remember that Wake is pretty old in football terms. And even when he's 100% he's a bit inconsistent. Vernon is wildly inconsistent and not even that good when he's on. I'd take an average player who doesn't cost us the game with a penalty and doesn't want a huge contract over him and be happy. Such...idk. Adam Beasley reported that Suh was "going off script". Maybe that's it. Whatever it is, if it's not fixed quickly we will be a below average defense at best.
