Does this put Landry back on Kickoffs fulltime? Really wish we would poach Raheem Mostert of the Eagles PS
Credit to the staff for recognizing a mistake and correcting it instead of hanging on senselessly. Now for Dallas Thomas...
This should mean Jonas Gray is active next week. Stoneburner would take Dion Sims' place among players active on game day. But with LaMike getting LaAxe, that should mean one other active game spot is open. That should be Gray for short yardage.
well i hope they fix sheppard before that, with misi in the middle we might stop opposing running backs before they gain 4-5 yards a pop
Is Jones still available to be brought back to handle kickoff returns or is he on another teams roster at this time? While Landry might be the best return man on the roster at this time. I hate to see the best offensive player on the team also being used on special teams. I just worry that there is a greater chance of injury to Landry by subjecting him to kick return duties along with being the teams #1 WR.
15 runs for 5 or more yards yesterday , that is beyond concerning. Simply can't have the DLine play as it did for most of the first game and have this type of play from the LB's . Problem may be that the LB's played to their ability level . DLine didn't and that needs to change.
Give the best players opportunities to handle the ball. Do you think Landry shouldn't do sweeps like a RB because he might get hurt too?
Amen!!!!!! Testify. I never understood taking the ball out of your playmaker's hands. He won the game yesterday.
yeah i rather have growing pains with McCain on the outside and Misi in the middle, sheppard was awful yesterday
I think D. Williams would be fine. He does his best running in the open field anyway. For kick off return that is. I do not think an active roster space needs to be used for a returner.
Let Williams handle the kickoffs, i'm cool with Juice returning punts. LaMike James is officially a disappointment at this point. What's Dante Hall up to these days?
agreed on not wanting Landry doing both KO and punt return duties. I thought Jones was injured wasn't he?
Well in their defense Sheppard played like 19 snaps...so that wasn't where my priorities were heading...
Not sure why people are so down on D Williams, especially if he's now our 3rd RB behind Jonas (hopefully). Williams can definitely fill in for 3rd down back with a focus on receiving out of the backfield. As long as he's not in there for 3rd and short and goalie situations, he brings value as a change of pace back.
Looking like you got your wish. @TesslerSports: The Miami Dolphins are signing Raheem Mostert (RB/KR, Purdue) to their 53-man roster off the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad today.
Um, Landry was leading the league for a large span of the season on kickoff returns last year...it would be crazy not to give him another chance back there. I understand that they don't want to do that because he's playing a lot more on offense, but his talent to see the field and hit a gap is undeniable. I am surprised that we cut James that fast, but it was also probably the right move with Gray on the roster. He's better suited for our offense anyway and James only made the final 53 for special teams.
Hard to find highlights of Raheem Mustard, surprisingly, but here's one from pre-season game #3 against the Packers... big kick return to start the game against Packers 1st string STs. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap3000000517819/Raheem-Mostert-67-yard-kickoff-return
Even if that was a slip, that's great ..... can't wait to call him that if he breaks one. "He put some Mustard on that return!" LOL
I admit I'm biased as a Purdue fan, but I was shocked the Eagles cut him. He is a huge upgrade as a returner and he played well on offense too for the Eagles.
i think most of us don't want laundry on KO because we need fresh WR's. With Parker being injured, We have juice mathews and jennings...... If juice gets hurt on Special teams, might as well kiss our WR core goodbye.
I agree, the midget soccer league is the best place for him to entrench himself on a roster. Good call.

I just read they had waived Gray as well. Does anyone have an idea why they did not see fit to keep gray on the 53? Doesn't make sense to me when Williams seems to be the guy that should be on the PS.
