Half the time it's like your talking to yourself, Dolphin25 is simply stating how he feels, and whats more important, it's completely true, he didn't say the Fins suck, nor did he say anyone was a homer. You aught to be looking in a mirror when you say that.
When you factor in what he wrote with the drivel he thanked leading up to that, my take on what he said isn't crazy at all. You thinking it is, just reinforces that it wasn't.
One thing I think that is being lost on the Landry punt return is the fact that there was some good blocking on that play. Landry did a good job of making two people miss, however he only had to make two people miss. I do not want to take away from Landry's great play. I just want to point out there were some other people who did their jobs to allow Landry to score that touchdown.
This is just week one. This is realm the first game teams have gameplanned for. Most teams are still working out the rust. We are one of them. If we play like that in week 5 I will be worried. Right now I'm happy with what I saw. Landry is out to prove something. Cameron looked impressive. Parker didn't even play yet. Phillips had a sack. The secondary bore down in the second half. The next three games are still preseason to me even though they count. I just want to see some incremental improvement week to week and get near 100 percent of the team we will be by week 5.
Honestly I don't get the hate for Keyfin's thread here. I'm a huge Tannehill fan and I still think he will be a top 10 QB this year, but yesterday was an awful performance. Luckily it won't be remembered as we won and he got very lucky, should have had at least 2 picks. I don't think that D- grade was all that harsh, terrible game from Tannehill.....he can and will be much better than that though. I do think the defense deserves a B-, poor run defense but still only 10 points. We won and that's all that matters, FINS UP!
the punter did a poor job as well kicking it to him with not enough hang time to allow his guys to get on him. But regardless, Landry showed alot on that return. One...that his speed is just fine.
so the defense that allowed the Skins to thrash them on the ground and hold 38 Minutes of possession gets a B- but the D- for Tannehill is justified?? IN what world am I living in? Tannehill did NOT have a Terrible game....you guys are either clueless or have REALLY REALLY high (unrealistic) expectations from a QB. I'd give tannehill the B- and the defense the same.
I don't have unrealistically high expectations, but the Redskins missed 2 easy picks that might have been pick 6's as well. He had a costly fumble in scoring position. He missed some routine throws. The stat line doesn't show how poor he was today IMO, I hope you have higher expectations for our QB, because even though he got lucky with those dropped picks he still only led our offense to 10 points. Our defenses run defense did get gashed for sure but they also came up big with 2 picks. They made some important plays and more importantly held the Skins to only 10 points.
I think the biggest problem I had with this game is not the performance of the Offence. It's that the run D looked so lost at the beginning of the game. They allowed some very long drives. That needs to improve because they were playing the Racist Logos, it'll only get harder. That being said, Garcon, Reed and Morris are all elite players. I hope the Run D isn't as bad as they were in the first half yesterday because that's what sank their season last year.
the fumble was not on Tannehill. that and the 4th and 1 failure are both not on him. yet both would have been at least 6 points every QB throws near picks, who cares. You guys are so caught up on these things acting like they are something they are not. He missed some routine throws....meh. SOme were pretty tough. but yea I'll give you that. He also made some really nice ones as well.
It's a simple case of not watching football other than the Dolphins. Even the elite make mistakes. Flacco almost threw a second pick6 manning as well. Rivers was terrible in the first half and he dink and dunked the second half. If this team doesn't win 50-3 every week it's a tragedy. The linebackers were always going to be a problem. The OL was always going to be a problem. The second CB was going to be a question mark. Except for the long kickoff return the special teams play better than i thought they would.
I watch plenty of football other than the Dolphins. Yes, every Qb, even the elite ones make mistakes, but Tannehill was just off today, I'm sorry that's just how I saw it. I think he's in line for a great season but today wasn't his day. Speaking of oline, does anyone have an Albert update?
put your unbiased glasses on and watch it again and let me know http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-fumbles-leads-to-chaos-and-redskins-recovery
I've watched it again and I believe Tannehill could have easily rolled to his right and bought some time. As I said, pressure is always gonna happen and in the past, the oline has allowed jailbreaks cutting off any room for Tannehill to escape from, but that play he had a chance and didn't see the rush until it was too late. That was a bad play on the oline, but it was also a bad play by Tannehill.
have you ever played sports before(not being facetious, just curious) I'm not sure how much you can appreciate how FAST those plays and those players really go. He didn't have any time. He didn't even have time to look at his first option before they were on him.
I didn't get a chance to see the game due to moving, but I appreciate some of you chiming in with your opinions. Just reading the stats and score, I thought the Dolphins did pretty good. Where do some of you see us finishing this year? Playoffs?
I agree, but how did the team look? What was the thoughts on progression from last year. Is this a team that can fix the deficiencies from what some saw in the game.
To me the big concern was the run defence. They were getting gashed in the first half. That changed as they shut out the Skins in the second half. There was a comical stretch where the Skins strung together a run of penalties that got them 3rd and 25+ on two straight drives. You'd have to think the number of holding penalties had something to do with the pressure the line was finally able to put on Cousins. I'm not worried about the offence though. Remember people wanted Tannehill benched after Week 3 last year? He gets better as the year goes on.
that throw to sims was by no means easy, it looks like sims adjusted on the route and went into the endzone and tannhill saw it just as he was ready to throw to someone to else and changed the throw, this was already a tough play since he is much better rolling out to the right
Another thing to remember, many players dive for the ball, not very many end up knocking themselves out. That was a freak accident.
The whole left side of the line collapsed immediately, Tanny tried to roll away form the pressure but he zero chance. He missed some wide open throws and didn't play that great. He also had some throws that were cringers and didn't get picked. That being said, this fumble wasn't really on him, like he held the ball to long. He had zero time. Like a swinging gate they got to him.
The world where a defense giving up 10 points...and letting us start one series in the opponents red zone....should have guaranteed a win. When the QB and the offense only generates 10 points, that usually guarantees a loss.
not taking in to account the defense allowing the opposing team to have 38 minutes in TOP?? or when the offense stalled on a 3and 1 and a 4 and 1? (should have been at least a FG) or when the Line was blown up causing RT to fumble? (should have been at least a FG) or how about then Tannehill engineered the final drive off the first half? or the final drive of the game where he got 2 first downs and closed it out? yea OK, D- is totally justified
I gave my review opening up this thread, so I won't go into details again. Tannehill had a rough day. The defensive line had a rough day. The linebackers were almost non-existent. The run blocking was horrible early, but did get better in the 2nd half. That's the bad. The good was that Washington was scared to throw to Grime's side of the field after he darn near had a pick six (he lept in front of a pass and caught it off-balance. If he kept his footing though and didn't step out of bounds, it was a very easy TD. Amazing play!). Once Miami realized it and adjusted, Washington couldn't move the ball and got two more picks (plus a 3rd dropped on 4th down, which was a good thing). Landry had a great punt return for a TD, and like others have said there was excellent blocking. Miller came on strong in the 2nd half. Tannehill seemed to settle down a little. The defense played a lot tougher and pitched a shutout in the 2nd half. So it was a day with a lot of ups and downs, but it ended in a win and that's all that really matters. And luckily, we have a few more easy games lined up early to figure some things out, so this certainly still could be a playoff team. It's just too soon to tell with the issues we saw....but the defense getting tough spoke volumes about our potential.
I'm not in the habit of arguing with trolls, but in what world does the offense stalling on 3rd and 1 (or 4th in 1) not fall to the offense? In what world does a QB seeing massive pressure coming form two directions not fall on him when he could (A) throw the ball away or (B) just fall to the ground while protecting the football? And the two first downs at the end were almost 100% Miller; Tannehill had one pass completion in that series. So you're saying that for one drive on the entire day, Tannehill had a great showing? I'm sorry, but that's just warped logic. Thirteen points (giving the offense the field goal we should have kicked...that was on Philbin) is just not enough to win most games in the NFL. The offense was largely outplayed the entire day and a big part of that was Tannehill's ball placement and decision-making. And trust me, I hate it as much as you do...I so desperately want Tannehill to be the guy. But he wasn't in week one.
agreed been talking about it in other threads..ive watched it several times..corner undercut that route both sims and ryan had to adjust on fly, and going to his left, got caught up in his release..
