If Bobby parnell wants to taken a week or two off after blowing two of 2 the 3 games vs pitt I'd be quite happy. And get well soon Lucas Duda, your bat was sorely missed.

Defense let Parnell down today. I have no idea why Ruben Tejada wasn't covering 2nd base on the come-backer. It should have been a double play.

Tejada can have some nice at-bats, but he still annoys me. He's too slow. Too nonchalant. Has zero power. He just seems lazy to me.

I'd like to see Wilmer Flores get more action. Besides that first awful month or so, Wilmer has been perfectly fine defensively.

Hairline fracture to the nose.....too bad the kid supposedly is an ok prospect.....Tex is probably out today which means Bird will play.....Yanks do this thing called Hope Week where they go around and do special things for interesting and tragic stories....Below is one of the kids whose Mom got killed in Charleston, pretty cool....

Yeah no point in waiting, hope they hire someone soon so the new GM has time with DD to make evaluations of the organization and start up a game plan heading into 2016.

No matter what this offseason should be incredibly exciting (good or bad).

IMO with the exception of the Verlander contract I don't think he did a bad job per se.....except for the fact he forgot that you need a BP to win a WS.....honestly if Det had a BP they would have had ring or two by now...

For you Marlins fans out there it reunites the WS 2003 FO as well with Henry and DD....

The Prince Fielder signing was bad although I think that was driven by the owner and giving Miguel Cabrera an extension will probably end badly but DD has made some great trades selling high on prospects.

Cespedes is having a night. 3 Homers 7 rbi a double and an intentional walk. Seriously, can the Mets stop acting like Tampa or Oakland (No offense to fans of those teams) and act like a big market team that has the 2nd or 3rd best revenue stream in the league and resign this guy this offseason. With 20m coming off the books from Gee (5.3), Murphy (7) and Bartolo (11) is it unreasonable to ask that we have a middle of the order presence?

You could even shed Michael Cuddyers 11m and no one would care except maybe David Wright (since those 2 played little league together).

This is going to be Cespedes weekend... Coors Field is a great stat booster. I had several bets on that Mets game, all cashed. Over 5.5 pts for Mets, Over 5 for Rockies, over 11 pts overall, and then a live bet of over 20.5 at the top of the 5th.

Loving my Cubbies. I felt that I was optomistic with my 85 win prediction before the season, and now if they just play .500 ball the rest of the way, they'll finish with 91. That would be their second best record in the last 25 years. 20-4 in their last 24, and now closer to the Cards (1st in the NL Central) than they are to the Giants (trailing them in the WC race). And they're a very young team who's learning on the fly.

Don Orsillo is leaving after this year. Many people aren't familiar with him but he does color for NESN and was pretty great at what he does. Too bad. He lives a few towns over from me. Here are a few takes, he is the guy who can't control himself, the other guy is Jerry Remy...

Wait, what? Why? Where's he going? This is terrible news.

EDIT: Looks like NESN is forcing him out. He's being replaced by Dave O'Brien from WEEI, who's actually pretty good. Wonder if Remy is next to go. If so I would love to have Eck in the booth full time.

I agree OB is pretty dry. Nothing was better than DO and Remy doing the games if something happened in the stands or if the game itself was boring.

Rumors going around that NESN is slowly starting to push Remy out the door too. Word is Remy might just do 40 home games next year and that's it.

Cubs SP Jake Arrieta no hits the Dodgers tonight for his 17th win this year. 1 BB, 1 ERR. First NH for the Cubs since Zambrano in 2008, and salvages a 2-4 record on their West Coast trip, with Arrieta getting both wins. Man, that dude has been amazing this year. Clearly a candidate for the NL Cy Young.

I think the Redsox are not out of the picture yet for a wildcard. Lots of things have to happen but this series against the Yankees is one they must win. Theyre my darkhorse to get in tho the Indians are heating up at the right time.

They are 8.5 games back with 32 left to play, unless they go on like a 30 and 2 run they have zero shot to jump 8 teams. They have been playing better baseball as of late and the younger guys look promising. They need to revamp their pen and get another starter or two but they're not far away from being a good baseball team again.

If they take care of the Yankees these next three games and then the Phillies.. they have a shot.. I know its a long shot but I think it will start to warm up in the middle of September.. Yankees losing opens up the wildcard more for everyone else.

Indians about to take a game against Toronto at a Salazar vs Price match up. Cleveland is definitely getting hot and they have talent galore in that squad.

Yup, it's another reason why you don't just give up on talented young players. Baseball is hard sometimes it takes time to make adjustments or to have things click.

Mets playoff chances right now are at 93.9 percent according to vegas. More importantly, Michael Conforto looks like a legit major leaguer (fantasy ballers take note for next year or keepers) who will hit 25 homers very soon. He's got 4 Homers and over 20 runs scored in under 100 AB's because he's an on base machine. Also Steven Matz should be back this week giving the mets another high potential arm. I'm sure this warms opponents hearts.

The acquisition of Addison Reed the other day from Arizona could be a good one. Reed consistently fell behind the count in Arizona the last year and a half but he's been prioritizing that and according to mets scouts looked good. Can't be worse then Eric O Flaherty and his 10 Era.

The Mets have 2 or 3 games left vs a team with a winning record (NYY in a few weeks) and 6 vs the nats. Otherwise it's a bunch more vs Philly and Florida and other bad teams. The mets are living proof that you beat up on the bad teams (34-9 vs the 5 worst NL teams...milwaukee, col, philly, Florida and cincy...excluded atl because they were not terrible much of the year until the last month +) and play 500 vs the teams over 500 and you'll make the playoffs. The concerning part is the 0-13 record vs Chicago and Pitt. Luckily playoff success is defined in a 5 or 7 games series and none of that will matter should the mets face one of them.

What the hell is Rick Porcello on? This guy was gas can king not long ago.. Now he is pitching a nice game with 11 K's so far... Wtf? This would be his second good game of the season, apparently he pitched well against the WhiteSox a week ago
