Keith Traylor for President. Great stories about Zach Thomas almost murdering Saban dead during a practice, too. http://deadspin.com/im-a-grown-***-man-how-miami-trolled-the-hell-out-o-1723879297
Great quote: When Traylor and others started to call Saban “Nick” just to get his goat, their teammates saw it for what it was. “That’s just what millionaire A holes do (edited),” says Crowder.
Seems to me the players kind of knew Saban's attitude toward them, maybe based on reputation or maybe based on previously established behavior on Saban's part, and they took it upon themselves to see if they could knock him down a peg...come to the realization that this isn't college and he can't treat players like kids.
I saw it myself. The way he and his assistants accosted players during practice, yelling in their face and such. I said it before, I can't believe someone didn't give him the Latrell Sprewell treatment.
Lol....cant believe he got up and left that Stripper on stage....youd a had to chain a semi truck to me and dragged me off that stage....
Well, that makes a little more sense about why he left now. We heard talk about how his personality didn't fit with NFL players, and this seems to echo that.
I remember Crowder telling the same story on the air, but with more details. The coaches made defensive calls with the intent of giving the offense a certain look. Zach -- with his recognition skills -- would quickly audible into a better defense. After the second time or third time doing this, Saban screamed at him to "stop changing the ****ing defense!!" To which Zach replied,"**** you!! This is MY defense!!" Crowder said alpha males Zach and JT challenged Saban at different times like that when things got heated. That they built this defense, it was their turf and their team. Damn I miss Zach Thomas.
****ing Crowder! He still cracks me up on his radio show sometimes. Don't know if it's still on anymore.
I think this just goes to show everyone that their perception of the coach player relationship in the pros is not what they think it is. Everyone here has been wrong about it. It also shows how much BS is spouted by the players and coaches during interviews. I mean, the players and coaches for the most part all say the right things and you have no idea this stuff went on.
His show was canceled but they just added him to afternoon drive time. He elaborated on the stripper story today, funny stuff, worth a listen to the replay at the WQAM website....
I dunno. None of this really amuses me. I mean, Saban was not built for the NFL and the ultra control he wanted to maintain. But these grown *** men went 1-15 the very next year.
OT but Any player that has conditioning rules like Traylor should have retired... Yeesh, what would have happened if the guy collapsed and died on the field. And I remember how Traylor looked during those years... He was a giant ball of fat...
was it saban or parcel the coach that started gettin rid-off all our good players. I dont remember that well maybe im mixing **** up but i remember alot players we lost C. Chambers W. Welker R. McMichael P. Surtain S. Madison J. Taylor Z. Thomas
Not sure if trolling or pats fan alt acc. What's next, Marino was a choker? The snow plow driver is your hero?
None of the above. Just not one of the those who is going to hold on to whatever from a very crappy time in our franchise. We're the ex who got dumped and went nowhere while the other ex went on to a wonderful life Did you scream in joy when Greg Camarillo caught that pass and went on to score? I lost my voice. How pathetic is that? Wasn't there crying on the football field? Didn't someone cry? Because they won 1 game? Meanwhile two national championships for that other guy. It's been 10 years almost. Seriously. It's time to let it go.
It's not that serious, JDang. Just funny anecdotes from that time. The franchise was a clown car back then. we all get that. We are all just laughing at the clowns while you are telling everyone that the red nose is a fake.
