So good when such a dominant player is also a team player. We'll see what Phillips does with the help soon enough..
I believe he will do well. If I were him I would stay as close as I can to Suh and soak up any information he may dish out. He seems like he wants to learn so I hope he takes advantage.
If Phillips can't succeed with players surrounding him who are awesome on the field, clean off of it, and are also going out of their way to mentor him, then it's on him. Great to read.
Man...Detroit lost 3 DTs...the primary reasons they were #1 run defense...that's a massive friggin' hit. And we pick up Suh, Mosley, and the kid here...and what does Suh do? Takes him right in to make him an integral part of this unit's success. Have we ever improved a unit this much in one off-season? Particularly, a unit that was already very strong? Craaaaaazy....... I hope Coyle can grasp the gravity of this unit's capabilities and maximize it for the whole defense.
Coyle's another coach that has no more excuses, specifically in this case for all those 4th quarter defensive meltdowns (often when teams ran right up our gut!).
I love all of the good things that Suh has done since arriving here. What a very humble and intelligent man that strikes fear in opposing QB's. Also, to hear what he has done with Jordan Phillips just adds more value to his signing. I actually think that Suh is just straight up teaching him the ins and outs in the NFL, as well as his training habits...I think that Phillips is going to have a pretty good year and I definitely want to see Suh and Phillips lining up side by side and wrecking havoc to opposing oline's.
I knew of Suh the player, but until this offseason I didn't know Suh the person. Such a pleasant surprise eh? I really thought he would be like his football self off the field, but no he's a Jekyll & Hyde.
i heard someone, I think it was omar say that he doesnt think Phillips runs very well....This is the biggest fallacy ever...Phillips runs incredibly well for a man this size, like better than any man that size ive seen.
Phillips was asked the biggest thing he learned about Suh from those three weeks working out together. “Just how hard he works,” Phillips said. “It’s incredible. I’ve never seen anybody work the way he does, and that’s just something I want to be able to resemble.”
You are correct in saying that. He does backflips and runs very well. He is a better athlete than people would give him credit. This could be a steal. Man, I would love to see Suh and Phillips lined up next to each other. That could be a nasty run defense.
