And your point is.....? He was tested multiple times each year since what 2005ish and never failed a test. I'm not saying he is or isn't using, I couldn't care less either way. But it's Arod would you really rule anything out when it comes to him?
Hes good at pitching in the 8th.. Dont ask him to save you any games though already has four blown. Oakland fans want him gone.
No one is over rating his defense, but he is better than Jeter out there. He's actually played way better since June. 20 SS over didi that's laughable... http://statliners.com/2015/06/29/didi-gregorius-proving-a-massive-defensive-upgrade-over-derek-jeter/ Speaking on Clippard, what a pile of garbage he's been in Oakland. That being said he was brought in to replace Luke gregorson in the set up role, but unfortunately, Doolittle's arm is about to fall off. I think he's a good fit for any teams bullpen, just not as a closer.
Familia has been a rock closing games. The Mets have 3 major problems pitching wise.... 1. A lot of their SP's are on innings limits 2. Meija is ineligible for the postseason due to his PED suspension 3. Lefties are 7/70 vs Clippard...hitting 282 off Carlos Torres and Sean Gimartin currently.
Victorino traded to the Angels for who really cares. Wish Shane well, he was a warrior in 2013 and without him there's no WS title but his body is just too broken down now. I will be rooting for him and hopefully he has another big moment in the playoffs this year.
Think being healthy and as far away from Kevin Long as possible has everything to do with his success...
Now the mets need to go get reyes and bring him home. No way Colorado willingly keeps 55M in salary. We need a SS upgrade and a leadoff hitter anyway! Plus Colorado Likely won't ask for Degrom or Wheeler plus Darnaud Syndergaard and additional prospects like they did for Tulo.
Tulo cant pitch but the Blue Jays can outscore anyone in their division now, the question is do the yankees have the pitchers to slow them down? The answer is no. You got to get hamels or price now, or somebody. Blue Jays are best in the league against LH pitching.
Yanks hopefully aren't dealing away their prospects for rentals, unless it comes with an extension......Hamels fits that bill obviously but the contract is an issue. I applaud Cashman's efforts lately not to deal away the farm. I mean at the start of the year everybody including myself thought they were a sub-500 team, so for them to be where they are is pretty cool (8 games up on Toronto). I think they are happy to be were they are right now. I think they try to get a bat (Prado/Zobrist/etc) and I think they try to find a McCarthy type (Leake/Latos/etc) but I don't think they deal the farm away from Price/Hamels....In the end they could do a deal to bring another arm to the pen that wouldn't cost much in return... Either way it will be interesting because they play the Blue Jays like 10+ more times...
They already were outscoring every one. By more than +70 run differential. Not even sure tulo is an upgrade. His hips, on turf.....yikes. I think lateral move by the jays. Boik, I tend to agree with the notion of Reyes ending up a Met. Although, I do think they ask for a certain outfielder just brought up....
God I hope they put CC out to pasture..... Cant imagine he'd make it out of the 2nd inning. and wtf... Capuano today?
latos will get traded for sure this week for just about any D lvl prospect. Same with Haren. Theyre fully aware of it already. We will probably call up Jarlin Garcia see if he lives up to the Liriano comparison after we deal those two.
Its not a lateral move, Tulo is an upgrade over Reyes in offense and defense, it's not really close either.
Seriously Tulowitzki 9 year career OPS .893 highest among SS HR 186 most RBI 650 most WAR 40.0 highest among ss Not to mention his defense is top notch, blue jays have lost at least ten games due to Reyes' poor defense.
Eye balls tell you one thing, numbers say Reyes 1.2 war Tulo 1.4 Probably an offensive upgrade long-term. But tulo played half his games in Colorado. Again, he has to stay healthy, on that turf.
Again he played half his games in Colorado and his career road ops is .819. Reyes has very close to .773 both home and away. Not taking away from Tulo, he's very very good, but he's not 7+ games better than Reyes.
His defense makes him 7 games better than Reyes yes. I watch a lot of baseball and Reyes is awful at shortstop, has lost about 10 games alone due to his defense, and probably shouldn't be playing shortstop, he should be moved to left field just like Hanley Ramirez was.
Baseball Reference has Tulo at 1.7 WAR and Reyes at 0.6. Yes Tulo played half his games at Coors but he's moving to another good home ball park in Toronto, so he shouldn't see that big a drop off and he's also moving away from the NL West where there at 4 pitchers parks so that should help his road numbers too. Scouts are starting to question whether Reyes can even handle SS defensively now, so it's an upgrade defensively too. I'm not a doctor but Jays are saying they don't think the turf will be an issue because Tulo hasn't ever had any back issues, who knows though. Agree health is key.
Detroit's GM keeps telling people they are buyers not sellers.....that puts a snag into things and makes Hamels extremely sought after...If the Philly GM doesn't come away with great prospects in this deal he is a fool.... Maybe the Dodgers trade Puig for him?
I find it weird that they're willing to keep Price but let go of Scherzer in the offseason. What's done is done but if you're going to keep one or the other, you keep Max who has more stuff than Price's fastball. And Price is going to get paid. What ever, that GM is a lunatic. 8.5 games behind Kansas City for the division and 4.5 games behind Minnesota in the wildcard race. And Cabrera still not due for another 3-4 weeks. Dodgers already told Puig he's not getting traded but I guess anything can change.
For this yr. Listen, I know tulo is better, I can see, but I don't believe this was the trade the bluejays needed to make. Like putting wax on tires to make the car look great, but forgetting to put oil in the engine. Rarely, if ever do teams that lack pitching win anything.
I think if you go back and look at the last couple of years and the returns GMs got for their "ace" or All Star type pitchers you'd be surprised. There hasn't been a mega deal that's worked out prospect wise in years.
I think it all depends on how they viewed Reyes at SS moving forward. I think that was the key and main factor in doing this deal.
Looks like Oakland is having a firesale... Doubt Gray is available though, his contract is very cheap at just half a million.
