One of the more favorable round ups out of Walter that I've ever read. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Very fair, and even more insightful in many ways than the national media. Which is rare, because the guy has a pure and irrational hatred of the Fins and has for years.
"Miami allowed a touchdown on special teams and didn't score any itself. The opposition outgained the team on both punt and kickoff returns. " We are not a good enough team to overcome poor ST play and it's not just Sturgis and Fields. Rizzi should go but it's not going to happen at this point.
how many punts did we block though ? 2 ? one being a GW against the vikings...i think this special team unit will be greatly improved
There's two ways to be good on special teams: - Have great kicking or luck into a great returner - Have enough o & d starters that are head and shoulders above the depth players. That way the depth guys can focus on ST knowing their chances of playing on any other unit are slim.
I think it's a good point about the rest of the league catching up by October. However, the delayed entry of Parker might mitigate any drop off. I also think we have too many weapons not to find mismatches. Not to mention three intriguing rb's in Miller, Williams and Ajayi.
I think you are right but mostly because they were bad last year. Easy to move up from poor. And if we hope to make it to the playoffs and do some damage in the playoffs this unit is going to have to play better.
10-6 sounds good until you see NE still wins the division and beats us 27-3 in the wildcard round. http://walterfootball.com/offseason2015playoffs.php
Looking at his week by week predictions, I can't find anything too offensive. He has us starting 5-0, and then going 5-5 the rest of the way, which is plausible. Going 4-0 vs Buffalo and New Jersey, all four in LOW scoring games.
I personally think we'll just play good football and win matchups with the type of weapons we have. There's really no catching up to that because, IMO, our success won't be predicated merely on the scheme. Either the opposition will have the players to keep up with us or they won't. I think we'll be very consistent throughout the season if some key players hold up (knock on wood x1000).
It all trickled down from the injuries we had during the season. I can't recall seeing our ST unit ever looking so thin towards the end.
